my question is who the h*ll is tara sullivan? and who cares what color they are wearing….if they were gonna where pink and purple and still one who cares!!!
i just wanna win!!!!
figures it would take a woman to worry about what colors they are wearing!!!
i mean won not one…. sry its still to early
she really does have a point. the uniforms are ugly, and if the team wants to use throwback uniforms, how about the early 80’s ones? that is the era they should be recognizing. only the jets could share a stadium with another team, and sometimes share a name with another.
I don’t understand the problem with our Titans throwbacks. I do not think they are ugly. Ppeople just aren’t used to them. Come on, are they any worse than the neon orange that the Bucs used to use or the pewter ones they use now? And you can’t argue that they are any worse than the Eagles retro uniforms from last year. Donovan McNabb looked like a canary in those. Besides, the Titans colors are the same as the Rams, but noone complains about those.
Nobody on the national scene complained about them last year when we wore them in a losing season, but because Brett Favre was wearing one last week, after bringing the media with him, everybody’s trashing the Jets.
I like the old uni’s
I’ll agree with using the 80s throwbacks too. They should never become the main uniform again, but it would be nice to use as a throwback. It’s been long enough to bring it back here & there.
What is up with the Jets playing so much in these old Titans throwback unis? This is unprecedented, isn’t it? Are they trying to change the entire identity of the team? Not only the colors, but also the logo and even the name? They are not moving to a new city. There seems to be no rational reason for it. So what is going on???
I read that they will be adding a white “away” Titans uni next year too! http://www.jetsinsider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=178880&page=3 I read somewhere that the current owner doesn’t like the Jets’ uniforms. I am worried that perhaps this is true.
When I first became a Jets fan as a child, green was hardly my favorite color. However, for a variety of reasons, (including a crush on a fellow college student whose favorite color was green,) the color green grew on me until it has now become my favorite color, particularly forest green. Indeed, the color green is part of what it means to be a Jets fan. In the history of the Jets, I read that the new owners, (after the Titans team had died an untimely death,) wanted to associate the team with the modern (at the time) age of jet travel and also chose the color green as part of a new, environmentally-friendly, (and very forward-thinking for the 1960s!) identity.
Of course, if Woody Johnson really wants to alter the Jets uniforms, then that is his right. But if the rumors are true, this will be a radical reinterpretation of a team! The last time this happened is when the Oilers became the Titans, but at least they had moved to a new city. So a new identity was reasonable for them. What would be the Jets’ excuse?
Personally, I hope they don’t do it. I don’t mind changing the uniforms if they really want to, as long as it is changed to something good-looking of course. (Granted, good-looking is subjective, but there are some things that everyone would agree is ugly. For example, the old Orlando Thunder of the old WLAF.) But PLEASE don’t change the name and the primary color! Green and the Jets go together now.
Also, I don’t like the Titans throwback unis. They are old school, both in a good way and a bad way. They are too boring! At least college teams like Penn State and Alabama have years of history and tradition for their boring unis. But the Titans? Come on! Didn’t the Jets already give up the rights to that name when the Tennessee Titans took that name. The Jets can’t change their name back to Titans, and I sincerely hope they wouldn’t want to.
And why pay so much tribute to the Titans anyway? What did they do? They weren’t necessarily an embarrassment on the field, but they were off it! At least the Jets have Namath and one Superbowl win that was the greatest upset at the time and almost single-handedly justified the fact that the old AFL teams could indeed compete with the NFL.
The only reasonable answer is aethetics. And that is what scares me. The old Titan throwback unis are not awful, just stupifyingly boring. And they don’t look like the Jets! When you see those unis, you don’t see the Jets. Now maybe some people might think that’s a good thing, but as a lifelong, diehard Jets fan who bleeds green, I certainly don’t! The Jets are associated with green, now and forever. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing is irrelevant. The Jets are green and should remain green! Go J-E-T-S! (Not T-I-T-A-N-S.)
