Jay Feely Likely to Kick Again This Weekend
Posted on October 6th, 2008 by Bassett
Although Mangini noted that Mike Nugent was “close,” and pointed out that Nugent had cleared some level of his recovery but that he wasn’t completely ready to kick. Mangini made a point to say that he didn’t want to rush things, only to let Nugent be sidelined for a longer period of time later. So at the present, look for Feely to kick this weekend, but that Nugent might be waiting in the wings for a comeback this month.

My call is, put Nuge on IR and free up the roster spot for Clowney without having to get rid of anyone else. Nuge, is not working out. Let’s face it- the guy is bad news. When was the last time he came out for a FG and you felt, “OK, we got these 3 pts in the bag?” I say, let’s see what “Ace” Feely can do for us.
Clowney is already on the roster, so there is no need to free up a roster spot for him. Next week we will need to free up a spot for the returning Eric Smith (whose spot was taken by the returning Jesse Chatman)…that’s when Feely or Nuge is gone.
Feely has missed three field goals in three games (albeit that one was negated by a defensive penalty). I’d take my chances with Nuge, given the choice.
Oh yeah. I’m sorry, you’re right. My bad about Clowney.
I know Feely isn’t exactly a lock, but Nuge with his weak leg and his weak kickoffs… I gots no faiths in him, but I suppose the argument can be made for Feely being just as bad. Here’s hoping for a better kicking game soon somehow.
