With Cincinnati coming to New York this Sunday, we wanted to give you a quick preview of how Football Outsiders ranks them.  These numbers will change in the next 24 hours and we will update them once Football Outsiders does.  In the meantime, here’s a glimpse at what kind of a team Cincinnati is.

Offense
Passing Rank — 30th
Rushing Rank — 32nd
O-Line Sack Rank — 23rd w/ 8.0% sack rate
O-Line Rush Rank — 32nd w/3.12 Adjusted Line Yards

Translation — This is a bad offense, one of the league’s worst.  Carson Palmer’s health issues aren’t helping matters, but the line is allowing too many sacks (which will play into the hands of the Jets sack happy OLBS) will allow for the Jets to not have to bring six blitzers much to get pressure as they should be able to do it with less.  The Bengals also struggle to move the ball effectively on the ground.

Defense
Passing Rank — 26th
Rushing Rank — 14th
D-Line Sack Rank — 32rndw/ 3.1% sack rate
D-Line Rush Rank — 15th w/4.20 Adjusted Line Yards

Translation — The Bengals will likely be able to slow the Jets running game, but it doesn’t matter much because their pass defense is so terrible.  The Bengals have been unable to create pressure on opponents and they have been getting the ball to their top two receivers well on Cinci.  Look for Coles and Cotchery to have big days.
