Favre Installs Quarterback & Wide Receiver Meetings
Erik Boland writes today in Newsday that Favre talked about how he has set up a weekly meeting between him and his receivers weekly to make sure they are both on the same page and that from that, it allows for more flexibility in-game:
Favre said in a way it resulted from one of the weekly meetings he has with his receivers. No coaches. Just receivers.
Favre has been doing it all season, sessions in which the quarterback and his receivers share the floor equally, learning and exchanging ideas. “We’ll do it today,” Favre said. “We’ll watch practice [the tape]. First and foremost, and this goes for anyone – any team, any level of play – it’s not so important you know what the other team is doing; it’s more important to know what you’re doing first and that’s what we try to get accomplished. How can we make our routes better? How can I make my read better? If we have a check, let’s make sure we’re all on the same page . . . I think it’s important to know what we’re doing first, and then we’re about who we’re playing second.” …
“You can draw up all the plays you want,” Favre said. “But it really comes down to the individuals, and that’s what we figure out in those meetings.”
It’s great to see that he’s brought this tradition from Green Bay to New York and that the extra effort will pay off for both groups.

once again favre prooves why he is a leader and hall of famer.
the same exact article was in today’s Daily News. isn’t it great how they all write about the same thing?
I’m hoping that Clemens, Ratliff and Ainge are all taking notes and do this if they are ever the starting QB for the NYJ
Think the Packers miss his leadership? He was not only their quarterback, he was the heart and soul of that team.
He will elevate the play of the entire team- something the Packers management overlooked. (How???)
The best part of it all, is that this team will have a lot of fun!!!!! He’s one of a kind!!
I never knew Favre did that. It is nice to see them taking the extra step to become better.
MUSIC to my/our ears!!!
Does anyone know if the other QBs sit in on them too. It would make sense in case Favre had to miss a series or two and would be great development for them.
i’ve been saying,,,,,big things this year
