Although they might not be marching on Florham Park just yet, PETA has taken notice of Favre’s turkey blasting shenanigans (allegedly) and isn’t taking too kindly to the whole affair.
Blood? Guts? HILARIOUS! What do you think he follows this one up with—the old “kitten in the microwave” gag? That one’s a real knee-slapper too. I hate to be the one to tell you this, Brett, but people who think dead animals are funny don’t typically end up in the Hall Of Fame—sometimes, they end up in custody.

What do you expect PETA to say? Their name is an acronym for “People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals”. Did you think they’d applaud? I think an argument can definitely be made that shooting a turkey and putting it’s carcass (complete with blood and guts)” in a bag in someone’s locker isn’t all that funny. I love the fact that the guy plays jokes and is part of the team & building camaraderie, but if it was my locker, I’d be pissed and I’d probably take a dump in his (which he’d probably find hilarious).

First of all, nobody knows what Favre put in Barton’s locker. Secondly, the guy from PETA does not now either, nor does he know what weapon Favre used, if any. So his statement about Favre using “military-grade weaponry” is baseless. When this story broke it was the beginning of October, I’m not sure that Turkey season even opened yet in NJ, and I doubt Favre would hunt out of season. I’m willing to bet it was road kill or something like that.

You are what’swrong with this country, your stereotype of hunters is dead wrong. You obviously read the liberal media. I just got back from a hunting trip from Montana. I used a bow to hunt Elk and Deer. Although I didn’t bag one I still had an amazing time. Montana is truly a beauliful place. Our base camp was at 5,000′ and we climbed to elevations of 7-8 thousand feet every day, and I didn’t have a beer until after dinner, which was usually around 9pm every night. I am also not obese, I’m 6′ and 220lbs. I ran 3-4 miles several times a week to get in shape for this trip. So please, be a little more informed before making ridiculous ststements like the on eyou did above.

Hey, I’m probably considered PART of the liberal media and I don’t make broad generalizations about hunters. I tend to feel that if broad generalizations don’t work for one group, they probably don’t work for others, either.
I’ve written this before, but I’ll say it again. PETA is the same organization who protested and held rally’s in the town of Fishkill, NY because they thought the name of the town promoted cruelty to animals. PETA found out, much to their embarassement, that the name of the town is actually an old Dutch word for “stream”, Fishkill is a word for stream. So all their self- righteous, bible thumping BS was for nothing.
I should also note that the President of PETA is on record as saying that if faced with the life and death decision of saving a retarted child, or a healthy dog, she would choose the dog. Now, I ask you, are these the words of a sane group?
PETA is a fringe group well outside the mainstream of any political philosophy. Extremist perspectives exist on the perimeter of all ideologies. Personally, I think the choice between a dog and the PETA leader would be a tough one. What kind of dog is it?

does anyone know if the Jets game will be played in CT? i’m visiting family this weekend and i’ll get back to NY by 1pm if it’s not. the Pats aren’t on until the evening, so I’m assuming the 1pm CBS game has to be the Jets. Just don’t want to get screwed as I turn on the TV.
I have 2 dogs 2 cats and a sister who is an ASPCA member. I don’t hunt because i don’t think its a sport to sit in a tree a hundreds feet away and shoot an animal.
That being said its a wild turkey not a dog. All this talk about Mike Vick is retarded. Huge difference between a dog(man’s best friend) and a turkey(most likely dinner). Vick tortured and killed dogs that wouldn’t fight. And th ones that did died fighting. As far as Im concerned Vick can rot in Jail for the rest of his life. Farve i could care less about a turkey. This is America land of the FREE. Hunting is 100% legal. Dog fighting is not.
P.S. If/When Vick gets out of jail, if Roger Goddell lets him back in the NFL that will be the last time I ever watch or go to a game.

Hunting isnt for me but that doesnt mean that is wrong or says anything less about a person who hunts. Like i said before this is America, that used to mean something. These days people are way to up tight. People just need to relax. Hunting not for me if it is for you good for you Im glad you found somthing you injoy. I love to go skeet shooting btw. Liberal or Conservative it doesnt matter. America is supposed to be this place where everyone coexisits and just lets everyone be who they are even if you dont agree with them. Im sorry for ranting but I think that America has got to get back to a time where people were free to be who they wanted to be.

I really hate that argument. You may as well say, how can you justify raising money for your local PTA when there is genocide in Darfur. They are two separate issues, and while one is definitely much more important than the other, it doesn’t mean that other should cease all activity.

Mole, it’s been my experience the people that “hate” that argument, hate it because they don’t want to address it. Your example of PTA vs Darfur doesn’t hold water. First, both of those issues deal with helping people. Second, how many people have the ability to actually go to Darfur and help. Not many. Again, everyone makes a choice as to what is important. PETA makes animals more important than people, plain and simple. Every person who belongs to PETA has people, children, who need help in their own communities, yet they DO NOT do anything about it. I would also like to find out who is taking care of their own children while they are out throwing blood on people in furs.
“Military grade weaponry?” PETA (the domestic terrorists they are) know just as much about weapons as I do about tofu. PETA as far as I’m concerned get just as much respect as do cockroaches.
There’s a reason why humans are on the top of the food chain PETA. Get over yourselves.

I’m just saying that there’s always going to be something that’s more important. PETA is a fringe radical group, but the ASPCA is not. Do you think the ASPCA should not exist until all human suffering is gone? I hear this argument of “priorities” so often, and it is very manipulative.
The ASPCA serves a useful function, for people.

FWIW, I don’t really care that Favre (or whoever) blew a turkey’s head off and put it in Barton’s locker. If you read my initial post (and perhaps buy a dictionary), you’ll see that my main point was that i wouldn’t want to find that in my locker and I’d do something nastier in his if I did. My other point was that why would anyone expect PETA to react any different than they did. Not defending them, just saying that this is what they do. Asking them to do otherwise is like asking George Bush to speak intelligently and pronounce the word Nuclear as “New-klee-er” and not “New-kew-ler”.
