Thursday Practice Notes
With a little more look at the team today, Erik Boland writes on his Newsday blog about a few topics of interest
Pellman Up to His Old Tricks — It’s unclear as to whether Coles will play this weekend. Mangini laid the blame on what the crap Laveranues Coles was doing back in the game shortly after getting a concussion at Elliot Pellman’s feet without saying so. “There’s an in-game protocol and there’s a prior-to-the game protocol. That’s why we have the doctors and the trainers on the sidelines. They make those decisions. Those aren’t coaching decisions. We won’t put anybody back in the game until they’re cleared medically to go back into the game.”
The Jets doctor, Elliot Pellman is misfeasant in his responsibilities at best. You’ll remember that Pellman was ousted from his responsibilities heading a league head injury committee, which he repeatedly stated that cumulative head injuries don’t have increasing effects. Wayne Chrebet and Al Toon (who were both under his ‘care’) would probably disagree. He’s clearly not learned his lessons as Eric Smith suffered a second concussion in less than a month last Sunday.
Bubba Bye — TE Bubba Franks missed his second day of practice, which explains why Brad Listorti was added to the show team. Don’t expect to see him suiting up this Sunday.
The Next Level — With Cotchery and Coles both iffy, can Brad Smith, Chansi Stuckey and David Clowney step it up? This is a good chance for them to show what they’re made of, facing a soft pass defense. David Clowney is feeling it. “I cannot even describe how bad I want to be out on that field right now,” Clowney said.
Wounded Woody — Damien Woody is back on the field and was practicing in a limited fashion after his calf injury this past weekend. Wayne Hunter filled in decently, keep an eye out on this.

I hope either Coles or Cotchery are ready to go. Bubba Franks being out wont hurt us. Hopefully we will see a lot more Keller this week and a lot less Baker slipping. It would be nice to see what Brad Smith, Chansi Stuckey, and David Clowney can do whe ngiven the opportunity. Damien Woody being out hurts us, Wayne Hunter is suspect at RT.
If woody is out we are not in trouble the chiefs suck , ok I know what you guys gonna say so do the raiders , well the raiders have talent they have a team that can be as good as the colts they have all these weapons they just need god coaching and Al davis ot die , and we need to sack some people this week , jeez we made Russel look like Peyton because of the lack of pass rush
I cant wait to see if clowney can be a legitimate deep threat for us that will open up everything else on the field!
btw, i have been a strong supporter of Mangini since day 1 but i draw the line this sunday. If we lose he must go, unacceptable not to blow out the cheifs at home
Chris Baker the Touchdown Maker is going to see some action this weekend!
Elliot Pellman, a football and baseball groupie had to go to Guadalajara, Mexico for his medical school training because of poor grades as a biology major at NYU.
Medical Adviser for Baseball Lists Exaggerated Credentials

He’s an internist with a credibility problem.
If the Jets had any smarts and cared about their players they would retain a neurologist and get rid of this problem.
If either Coles and Cotchery are out I want to see MARCUS HENRY. Yes MARCUS HENRY !!!
IT IS DEFINITELY SHOW TIME FOR DAVID CLOWNEY!
i agree marcus henry looks like a young keyshawn johnson (without the mouth)
Moyvore:
Excellent, excellent research. This guy is a phony and should be prosecuted !!!
SOME SIMPLE MATH:
After this sunday we can afford to lose three out of the next nine and we will make the playoffs. We can split with Buffalo, loose to NE and Tenn. Which leaves us with Miami as our last game. Our whole season, and possibly our future for the next two or three years hangs in the outcome. How is this for the final act of an icredible play?
hank/naples,
I love the enthusiasm, but what about Buffalo Bills? They’re coming off a big win over San Diego and sitting atop AFC East with 5-1 record.
QB Trent Edwards is back and has an alternative to Lee Evans with a defense that was giving up just 15.6 points per game. Also, their schedule is the same only they don’t have to face the undefeated Titans – Jets do!
Say it with me… If the Jets get good enough to be competitive in the post season, they won’t. Because, the loss to Oakland will cost them the 10-wins they need to win division.
I don’t want to be Dino Downer, but come on?
Do the math!!! Jets are getting better, but staying home again this year.
Why the hell is this clown still employed by the Jets??? FIRE HIM IMMEDIATELY!
Pelman is the same medical advisor who had shelved a promising finding where Patriot players were found to have reduced concussion rates due to a corrective mouth guard. Since then the NFL has shunned any connection to the procedure, only to have it recognized by the international community http://www.mahercor.com. What is it going to take government intervention, if so, Pelmen will be held accountable for his misdeeds.
Dean Barbella:
Maybe you missed the part where i said ‘ we can split with Buffalo, lose to NE AND the Titans’ and still make the playoffs. How?
VERY SIMPLE MATH:
We beat the Broncos for a wild card spot with a 10-6 record.
PS.(They’ll lose to Miami after the Bye ;)
We are looking at the wild card right now. Colts and San Diego are in trouble. Hell those Raiders are only two games out in the west and they lost in the 4th qtr to San Diego.
For those who want Marcus Henry to play – he is not on the team. He’s on the practice squad. If the Jets sign him to the active roster, they have to cut somebody.
With Woody hurt, any roster additions should be at OL where we’re very thin. And the kicker question is really beginning to get interesting with Feely playing well and Nugent…well, what the hell is going on with Nugent?
Up until last week Feely wasn’t as good as Nuge. He had a good game. We of course would want him killed if the Cable guy hadn’t foolishly tried to ice him.
hank/naples,
I see you’re thinking wildcard and I’m thinking which four games can Buffalo lose to help Jets win the division.
Anything is possible, but I’ve been of the mindset only one AFC East team will play in post season, because the AFC North has Steelers and Ravens and AFC South has Titans, Colts and Jags… all of which have better records than Jets.
At this point we’re playing K.C. to win the game – ironic, eh?
DB:
I’m not even thinking division, that would’ve made my ICD explode. I’ve been thinking 10-6 since free agency ( before Farve) and that should be good enough for the playoffs, then it’s a new season and anything can happen.
We can afford to split with Buffalo, lose to NE and TN.
By beating the Broncos we should get in. But you know football, It’s Murphy’s Law. The best part of all this however is the final game with Miami. It’s going to be great !!!!
“and AFC South has Titans, Colts and Jags… all of which have better records than Jets.”
The Colts and Jags both have the same record as the Jets – 3-3.
Maybe its just me but im not afraid of the games against NE, Tenn, and Denver. If theres one thing we know about the jets; although they may play down to weaker opponents, they also play hard against good opponents. There is no reason to think the Jets cant win these games. Im well aware that Tennessee is undefeated but they just dont scare me. There QB is Kerry Collins and there best receiver is justin mcdrops. There biggest strength is running the ball and, hey guess what, WE STOP THE RUN. Denver is a mess and we should be able to light up the scoreboard on them, and New England, well the Jets just better win that game.
The Jets are better than the Colts and Jags too
THE NY JETS……………THEY”RE ALIVE!!!!!! , THEY’RE ALIVE!!!!!
