To give you a sense of what kind of team the Chiefs are this year, last spring Herm Edwards told reporters he was looking to pick up ten starters in the draft.  With such a young and inexperienced roster the Chiefs have had a tough time translating it into wins.  Worsening matters, Larry Johnson is sidelined because of his pending legal issues and the Chiefs are playing with a third string quarterback Tyler Thigpen. Larry Johnson’s bruising replacement Kolby Smith is only averaging around 3 YPC. For the Jets, all Brett Favre needs to do is not turn the ball over to win this game. The Jets could focus on letting Thomas Jones and Leon Washington run the ball for the win.

Matchups to consider …

Jets Run Offense v. Chiefs Run Defense - As noted above, this is where the Jets could and should win the game.  Thomas Jones and Leon Washington had good weeks against the Raiders, and should look to have favorable numbers again this week.

Jets Pass Offense v. Chiefs Pass Defense -  The Chiefs woes begin up front where they are unable to rush the passer effectively.  From that, although Herm does a good job with his secondary, there’s gaps that the Jets will need to exploit.  The problem is, two of the Jets best receivers are going to be iffy with injuries.  Coles is recovering from a concussion while Jerricho Cotchery has a shoulder injury.  We all think that the Jets have a deep receiving corps, now’s the time for them to prove it.

Jets Run Defense v. Chiefs Run Offense – Jamaal Charles is the Chiefs change of pace player, while Kolby Smith is the more powerful back of the two.  The Jets are playing well against the run, but if the Chiefs can run the ball well they’re much more likely to stay in this game.

Jets Pass Defense v. Chiefs Pass Offense – The talent on this team is in the receiving corps.  Darrelle Revis will have a tough task facing Dwayne Bowe, one of the league’s most talented receivers, while the linebackers and safeties will have to contend with Tony Gonzalez.  Kerry Rhodes has played well against Gonzalez in the past, so look to see if he can make an impact against the Chiefs.

The key to our whole season starts today. If todays win reflects a good chunck of offensive plays (around 60)with a 3rd. down efficiency about 60 to 65% and plus takeaways it will tell us that the team is finally comming together to make a strong statement towards the playoffs. Its not enough that Farve does not turn the ball over but he must get us good third down efficiency .

a miami win today would be nice for us as well

The JETS not only have to win today, they have to win big. If they lose, Woody should fire MANGINI, SCHOTT and SUTTON and make Westhof interim head coach unless he can convince Cowher to come out of retirement.

hank it doesnt matter how badly we kick the chiefs , they just plainly suck , a college team can score 60 on them , it wont prove much if we have a 100 % 3rd efficiency its the damn chiefs , but the good thing that will come out of this is after Rhodes gets like 3 INT and brett breaks a record , our team will be confidant against the bills next week , and the rams and the pats who I think we can beat with out harrison and maroney , oh and we have to face the titans , thats 4 tought back to back games

Hey, just in case you and your kids don’t know about Brett’s high school and college years… this is a great story at Free Brett Favre Book.com

Yeah… Cowher is now the answer….
I thought replacing the QB was the answer…
I also thought adding a veteran guard to o-line was the answer…
I thought revamping our weak run D was the answer…
I thought getting a RB was the answer…

Must win, today we should score between 34-42 points. They have to dominate the crap out of the Chiefs, really take last week’s loss as motivation and beat the shit out of them. If they lose like last week season’s over…

Also bubba franks is out, maybe DK can get some more snaps, should be interesting

    Hey PREd(itor)

bad playcalling all season. the coach and the coordinators are not smarter than the game of football. if its 3 and 1 run the ball. dont throw it. if leon washington gets a 60 yard td run, give him the ball some more. reward him, he’s probably pumped up. don’t hand the ball to favre and let him throw it 3 times for a 3 and out. and as far as getting veteran linemen, you coulda just used the 6th pick in the draft for an offensive lineman like albert. at least he would have a shot to play, and you wouldn’t have to pay woody 30 million.

Herm needs a gameplan together. The Chiefs have struggled for far too long.NFL also need to stay out of trouble .Injuries and thugs are ruining the league.
