Colts Beat Patriots 18-15
Posted on November 3rd, 2008 by Bassett

It’s official. Thanks to Anthony Gonzalez his 2 TDs and the rest of the Indianapolis Colts, the Jets are tied for first in the AFC East with the Bills and Patriots all at 5-3. Of the 5-3 teams the Jets have the most division wins, going 2-1 in division so far.
If the Jets can win at home next week versus the Rams, with the Patriots and Bills playing each other next week, the Jets could create a little space at the top from a third team.

Yip cabbage on three!
I don’t want to see any remaining schedule posts with predicted wins and losses. NFL is week by week.
Have to route for the Bills next week because we have the Pats in NE on three days prep. Not ideal circumstances to say the least.
correction: *root* for the Bills
I saw someone in the comments of another post ask who we should be rooting for this week.
To me, it’s a no-brainer, we root for the Bills. At this moment, I think we’re more likely to have the tiebreaker with Buffalo at the end of the season than with New England. Also, if Buffalo beats New England and we beat St. Louis, then the worst we can be after the game in Foxboro is tied with the Pats, as opposed to a game behind (essentially two games behind since they’d have a season sweep and a better division record), though of course I’m optimistic that we can win.
And of course there’s the bad blood with the Pats on top of everything.
Go Bills.
Yes, now would be a good time to have the Bills recover their desire to win!
Does it really matter who wins between the Pats and Buffalo?
The Jets control their own destiny as they play each team 1 more time this season. I dont think we need to worry whether they win or lose; not yet at least.
If the Jets take care of business in the AFC East (and they still have the Bills and Fins at home), then the Pats-Bills game is irrelevant. But, a Pats win makes it real hard for the Bills to either make the playoffs or win the AFC East because they’ll have an 0-3 divisional record. Either way, the Jets need to beat the Pats, but if the Pats beat the Bills, the Jets game will not mean their season. If the Bills win, that Jets game would be for the Pats’ season. So, do you want a Pats team with its season on the line? I’m tilting to slightly wanting to see the Pats beat the Bills, hand them 3 straight AFC East losses and take them out.
Let’s just hope for a Jets win next week!
LETS GO JETS!
Okay, when the season started I think some people thought we would be at or near the top by this point in the season.
BUT, after a lost to Oakland did anyone think we would be?
If you don’t care about how much the Week 11 game will mean, then yes, the Bills-Pats game is irrelevant. Maybe I’m weird, but I’d prefer not to have that game be a veritable must-win off of one day of practice at our most bitter rival’s stadium.
What is irrelevant is all of this talk if the Jets don’t beat St. Louis.
When looking at a teams record and looking into playoff hopes, there are many solid facts. #1: Your team wins, #2: All other teams in your division need to lose, #3: When Your opponents play, the one with the higher record needs to lose.
Then, when your opponents have the same record one must go with the statistic thing and you would probably want the team you beat to win against the team that beat you. This means Bills over Pats would be the better choice. You want the Pats to end with the lower record because the tie-breaker looks better against the Bills than the Pats.
So GO BILLS.
I really dont care who wins…I just WANT to HANDLE tha patsies next time we play! we OWE them one!
GO JETS!!
GO BILLS!!
Joe B.,
If the Jets are a true playoff contender, they should be able to go into NE and beat the injured and hobbled Pats at home.
Either we do it in the regular season or we do it in the playoffs. Either way, its going to have to be done.
Jets provided better than expected performance yesterday (based on mediocrity of prior weeks) boosting near term outlook for the remainder of this half. Yet, as we all know, one game does not a season make…
They need to execute as well or better and win at least two, and hopefully all three of the next three weeks. For my dime, the season is really that simple. If they succeed in doing that they’ll be on a tremendous roll and the last part of the season will take care of itself.
Let’s expect that they are professionals and have now finally “gotten it,” i.e., the message Mangini purportedly gave that people lose jobs when they’re not winning; and if they win then whatever Bills, Patsies, or Fins do when they’re not playing us is irrelevant, and we can potentially secure home field playoff advantage…wouldn’t it be nice to have teams come to us in January?
