For the first time since Week 2, the Jets injury report doesn’t list Mike Nugent as out, but rather that he practiced in a limited fashion this week. Many of the team’s beat reporters noticed this too. This is good news, and Nuge must have cleared whatever hurdles he needed to from a rehab standpoint to get back onto the field.
Whether or not he’s ready to play this weekend, is unclear, as noted by Jay Feely’s continued presence on this roster.
Had Nugent been fully ready to go, the team would make a move to protect one of it’s other players (like Kenwin Cummings, Kareem Brown, etc.) on the practice squad by cutting Feely. We’ll have to see how the rest of the week plays out, but unless Feely is cut in the next day or two, I wouldn’t expect Nugent to start.
Tangentially, Greg Bishop writes a bio article on Jay Feely.

I would keep Nugent. Plus Nuge has the stronger leg.

I don’t imagine they’d cut Feely and risk losing him to another team till they see Nugent hold up through a game or two.
A bummer to suck up the roster spot but if Feely gets picked up by another team and Nugent relapses from whatever mysterious injury he’s got they’d be screwed.

now the question is,is NUGENT a BETTER field goal kicker than FEELY? who would the REST of you rather KEEP and why??
