Wallace Wright Continues to Contribute
Katie Strang of Newdsay does a short feature on Wallace Wright and how he’s polished himself into the role of being the best special teams player he can be.
“Special teams have always been my niche. I was never gonna be a starter, that was evident,” Wright said. “If you’re not a starter, you’ve got to play on special teams.”
We know that Wright might not catch a single pass this season. But I’d argue that having him make 20 special teams tackles, effectively disallowing opponents from getting good returns for the Jets is much more valuable than him catching even 10 passes while the team already has some good receivers. Wright’s ability to contribute so effectively at the fifth spot for receivers is one of the reasons that this special teams unit is as good as it is.
Note: We’ll be back more later, but I’m going to do some volunteer work this morning.

Everyone knows I love Wallace Wright!
Wallace Wright Continues to Dominate. He & Leon Washington should earn All Pro invitations to Honolulu. Be sure to rock the vote:

Also, Revis wants a window seat; Mangold likes center; Rhodes aisle seat and our tweth man Jenkins needs a whole row – First Class!
Plus, who knows mayby Harris can rebound from his injury, plus Calvin Pace, Shaun Ellis and Brett Favre if he keeps the Jets winning and the INT’s down?
Barbella -
Really? Pace, Rhodes and Favre? A bit of homerism, perhaps?
Revis, Jenk and Leon need to go. So far, that’s it.
Dean:
This is why I’m thoroughly disgusted with this Farve thing. What the heck has he done so far to even mention his name next to Jenk, Revis and LW for a trip Hawaii this year?
Wallace, leon, Jenks, Revis, Rhodes (if he PICKS it up, rember, he had a 4 -game streak of INT’s) and possibly favre if he keeps down the ints. And oh yea, Thomas Jones? Second in afc in rushing wit 6 total TD’s (or 5) And Mangold nd Faneca. D’BRicks no pro bowler yet but hes only let up 1 sack and it was aginst seymour week 2
Hank I actually can’t believe it but you are absolutely right about Favre not going to the bowl. But why are you so disgusted with Favre? Where does this animosity stem from? Why do you constantly make it a point to rain down on the vast majority of Jet fans that are perfectly happy with Brett at the helm? Why do you act as if it’s the coaching staff (the same one that brought Favre in in a NY minute over Chad) versus Brett? I think you should try to look at like this.
Favre’s numbers and accomplishments are on par with all the top QB’s of all time, and in any sport players of his status will always be mentioned whenever they have more td’s than int’s and there team has a piece of 1st place. Now I agree with you his performance doesnt merit a pro bowl selection but you have to try and understand that his name is gonna come up because of his resume.
Now please we all know how you feel about Favre, it’s no secret. But he isnt going anywhere this season. He’s our QB now, so get with it or get gone. If you are gonna call yourself a Jet fan, this is our team this year. The season looks like it could be pretty special so if you want the wins GET ON THE BUS. If you want to continue bitching and crying about Brett than please go to the Dolphin blog and cry to them. Your negativity is not gonna bring Chad back and it’s bad karma for the team that we have RIGHT NOW. If you’d rather be “right” about Brett Favre than see us doing something big this year then I’m almost positive that i speak for 99% of us TRUE Jet fans when I say, “get over it”…
well said eddie i agree 10000%
D. Revis
K. Jenkins
L. Washington
W. Wright
K. Rhodes (by default as no other FS has played considerably better than him, but his play will determine whether he gets in)
Besides Rhodes, if those guys do not get into the probowl, I will accuse people of Anti-Jetsism
I agree with anyone that Hollywood must get consideration if not for this year for past seasons. A trip to Honolulu is long overdue for Kerry. Also Big Kris and Revis should START for the AFC no doubt about it.
