Sackdance,
Great point on the deep safeties and the slants to the TE. You obviously have watched Favre in GB or played, coached competive football. Great breakdown my man this site needs more people like you as opposed to well, you probably know...

Sack99,

I too was surprised to see BF & TJ still in the game after the half, but I guesss Manginuess wanteted to keep them and the team hungry for Pats week.

I suspect that Mangini will use Keller as his secret weapon, he will lull the Pats to sleep with the power running game, and then put Keller over the top to loosen things up, maybe even getting lucky and getting a TD out of it.

Keller is definitely a mis-match for most teams. He will be as good as the coaching staff allows him to be. A game like this past one can only do wonders for his confidence.

This past game would have been perfect, to let Vernon Gholston tee off on the QB. I didn't see him too much. How do they expect him to contribute, if he gets no playing time. There is no way that he caused so much destruction in college and can't become a good pro. Once again, he can be as good as the coaching staff allows him to be. If they put him in the wrong situations or don't put him in any situations -- what can he do. I hope they don't waste him.

Great research.

As pathetic as it sounds i followed Dustin Keller throughout the combine. He first caught my eye in his senior season at Purdue about midway through the season when they played Ohio State, who im pretty sure was in the top 5 at the time. He gained over 100 receiving yards with a handful of catches and possibly a TD. At school i get the NFL network (useless) and was able to watch the televised combine. Keller had a great combine putting up numbers and I remember saying the Jets need a player like this. An up the seam type of guy to compliment the wideouts. When the jets traded up to get the 30th pick i wasnt really sure what route they were going or even if they considered Keller to be a 1st round guy. When the commish announced keller i hit the rough i was pumped and immediately called people.
What im trying to get at is this kid is talented and is everything the Jets needed to diversify the offense.. of course a QB that can stretch the field helps..
Keller should shred the seam against the Pats with injuries to Adalias Thomas and Rodney Harrison...

I was surprised that Favre and TJ were still in after halftime, but remember, this is Favre's 9th game with this offense. I think it's crucial for the Jets offense to be in synch and for Favre to get comfortable. Yesterday, we saw Favre do what he's great at doing. If you play your safeties deep, Favre kills you with slants and seam passes to the TE. Deep safeties also open up the running game. Nobody is crediting Favre for yesterday's win, but he was near flawless and deserves kudos for executing a great game plan (that's 2 in a row for Sch otty).

Belichick relishes making an opposing offense do what it is uncomfortable in doing. The Jets offense, however, is getting to be as complete an offense as we've seen in a long time. Every week, I'm seeing fewer and fewer weaknesses. I suspect that the Pats will try to make Favre beat them. This game will test whether Favre can beat the Pats going over the top. With Keller's emergence, especially without Harrison, and the more controlled Favre, I am hopeful that the Jets can win. The Pats are not built to win a shootout without Brady, so getting an early lead is super-important. Make Matt Cassell have to beat you and that means putting him in a position where he needs TDs. IMO, this is the most important regular season game in Foxboro since 2002. A win gives the Jets a 3-1 AFC East record, with the next 2 AFC East games (against the Bills and Fins) at home. Just a huge game.

I guess you didn't see Trusnik at LB. Remember, with four QB and four kickers, we don't have a lot of depth. I saw Ihedigbo, too. Clemens at QB. Who am I missing?

not really in king's defense, but i think a 40-0 lead is the time to start working in the back-ups. not because of any problem with supposed running up the score, but because it's silly to risk injuries, especially when it is such a short week coming up. with the team ahead 47-3, favre started the 4th quarter with a 30 yd pass to dustin keller. that's great production and all, but not such a smart play if favre gets hurt while throwing deep with an enormous lead in the 4th qrtr.

personally, i think they didn't put in clemens or ratliff because they were worried the back-up might look better than favre.

as for jones still running the ball with 4 minutes left in the game, it makes absolutely no sense to me. or leon for that matter. was marcus mason not activated? if the team only activates two rb's, that is bad enough on its own.
