Buzz: No Respect For Their Elders?
Uh oh … looks like someone is giving the Patriots some bulletin board material …
One Jets offensive player, who spoke under the condition of anonymity because he didn’t want to provide bulletin board fodder for the Patriots, talked about being “sick to our stomachs” about the Jets’ 19-10 loss in Week 2 at the Meadowlands. He felt the Patriots were vulnerable – particularly on defense. Not to mention it was the first game with Matt Cassel at quarterback, after Tom Brady was injured in Week 1 vs. the Chiefs.
The player spoke matter-of-factly about how “slow” and “old” a number of the New England defenders are and how he believes the Jets should be able to put up “a lot of points” on them tonight.
Well I’m glad they were sick … because I know I was.
Hmm … let’s think of offensive players who are generally outspoken and have been on this team for a while … who could it be? I’m glad the Jets are feeling good about themselves and this game. The team has won five of their last six, but maybe we misunderstood how good/bad the Bills were. This is one of the best barometers for this Jets team to gauge who they really are in this division … at least for this year.
I guess we’ll find out tonight whether they’re slow. To paraphrase Toby Keith (my wife likes Country music, blech) if one thing is clear, it’s that the Patriots defense may not be as good as they once were … but are they as good once as they ever were?

good choice of the picture for coles….it made me chuckle
For the last decade or so, the Pats of been the Harlem Globetrotters and the Jets have been the Washington Generals.
Lets hope that doesn’t continue!
I would consider this a successful season if we beat the Pats, regardless of what else may happen the rest of the way.
Love the spirit!
Whoever said this is an idiot and better be able to back it up. I prefer when the players do the talking on the field. Plus why anger a hurt animal? They have less to lose and I don’t want Wilfork hurting someone.
I was beginning to think this team had the makings of the 2001 Patriots team. Given that they have picked up Law he is much older but he tongue is still young and prone to make himself look really bad. What I can take from this post is that the team realy doesn’t need that and if it is Coles then I think he should be shipped out. He never wanted to play for the Jets (money talk in 2003) it just so happened that Chad was a high character guy and Coles couldn’t handle him. Even in 2006 he was a distraction when he complained about Mangini and labeled him “a penguin”. Coles like Farve is a cancer to this team. Ty Law wont last a drive as he will miss an assignment tonight. Expect the Jets to win but to expose a weakness. The weakness is a bunch of players who have selfish attitudes. This will be a team win and like or not FARVE but sometimes you have to SHARE in order to play.
correction:
His tongue is still young
I love this part: “…who spoke on condition of anonymity because he didn’t want to provide bulletin board fodder for the Patriots…”
Um, Cimini and LC (probably) do realize that this is still bulletin board fodder, right? It doesn’t have to have a name attached to it to be used as motivation.
This is pretty cowardly, because this player is still providing bulletin board material, he’s just making sure the Patriots don’t target HIM specifically.
I completely agree with JAGG, this anonymous player is a moron and leave it to Cannizzaro to stirr things up for the Jets. That being said the Jets will win tonight convincingly because they are hitting their stride within a game plan constructed during the offseason. This team was designed to be a run first, pass second team and as long as Farve stays within the game plan, doesn’t put the ball up for grabs, we will win. As long as the team continues to execute what started in Buffalo, we will own first place in the AFC East tonight and for a good part in the future. I bet the ranch on it.
cannizzaro is piece of ****….why is he beat writing for a team he hates…and if he claims he doesnt then y is it that he writes so negatively about them all the time…
for example when i was at the game this past sunday i stopped by the espn tent outside of gate D well there was cannizzaro stating that the pats will win tonite and then win the division…
as a jets beat writer if u really believe that dont say that in front of a group of jets fans before a game that doesnt involve the patriots….
its amazing how these people keep their jobs
i hate ny media
I dont really mind the annonimous trash talk…i think if your going to do it you should put your name out there but i ont buy into “making them angry” i doubt it makes them play harder….look what happened when plax made the 24-17 call.
They were over confident and laughed at Plax’s prediction. They were inviting Giants to their huge party after the game.
I too hate NY media, as we all should. Half of these writers don’t even look at the stats or watch games. There are way too many. They just spew opinion after opinion. They do what we do and get paid for it. Hence why I come here for my Jets news. We know the stats.
I would guess C Baker
Of anyone on the Jets Chris Baker needs to keep quiet. He wa snot worth the headache this offseason. Like I said all offseason.
Pats d is very different from last year, when it was one of the oldest units in the league, and even earlier this year. With Meriweather starting for Harrison, Woods in for Vrabel, and Guyton in for Bruschi, the avg. age of the Pats defense in terms of years in the NFL is 3.9. So while they still might not be as good, they are definitely younger.
Sorry, meant to say Woods in for Thomas…
I wouldn’t put it past MC to make up a story like this. He’s done it before. It’s curious that there’s no full quote… only a few words quoted. Background-speak doesn’t preclude using a full quote.
And if it is true, first person to come to mind, is Baker.
But, I think MC made it up.
