  1. A really great win. I wish we had used Keller more in those stalled 3rd and 4th quarter drives but in a way, perhaps it was better that we had him fresh for that splendid OT drive. Although they missed “key” components, I can’t imagine the patriots being any more motivated. The psychological benefit of this win will go far into this team’s cohesiveness and determination.
Question: After an amazing game against the Rams and a solid performance last night that includes coolly kicking the game winner, can anyone deny Feely’s place in the starting position over Ted Nugent?

  2. I just read Ron Borges article. Wow. The NE/ Boston persepctive on this game is unbelievable. If any Jet fan wants to get pissed off, read that article. He makes fun of Woody Johnson. Ridiculous. And basically says the Jets got lucky and the loss is not really a big deal and the Pats are still “King”. Very sour grapes.

I think Feeley is going to have to have a bad game for Nugent to get back on the field.

  3. I’m a long-suffering Jets fan who lives in upstate NY (grew up on LI), but I work in Rockford Illinois living in a hotel far from home. Thank God I was able to get the game on the radio (CBS / Westwood One), WSCR Chicago.

However, for the life of me, I was screaming when “Mangenius” (* tongue in cheek *) called that time-out with 8 seconds left in the 4th. Dennis Green was doing color analysis on the radio and he was (politely) upset with Mangini’s time-out. I must admit, I thought that was it – the Jets were going to blow this – and they almost did with the Moss touchdown. I wore green all day and my Jets hat to work and forund religion last night as I prayed that the Jets would win the coin toss and take it home. There is a God!

    Bottom line:
New England Patriots and Eric Mangini: 31
New York Jets, Brett Favre, and God: 34.

Seriously, Mangini being coach has got me worried. I don’t think he’ll take the Jets to the Promised Land. Favre had to literally rescue the game _from_ Mangini. Hopefully, Favre will stick around for next season and stay with the Jets – maybe as a player/coach!!

  4. It’s going to be interesting to see if Peter King gives the Jets any props in his MMQB column. It must be his worst nightmare right about now that the Jets actually beat his beloved Patriots, so I’m sure he’ll play the injury/age/lots of mistakes card that most other Pats apologists are using.

The article by Borges was just sour grapes. No sportsmanship or class whatsoever.

  5. VJR,

Are you implying they stopped the clock with 8 seconds left? Cause that is not how it was. The pats spiked the ball to stop the clock. The jets just took a timeout to think about the down, which I think any coach in their right mind would do.

Obviously they didn’t play it right, giving moss a lot of room off the line. And should have been roughing him up at the line like they had been doing all game. Either way, it was a really good catch by moss, and a really good throw by cassel.

  6. What a bunch of whiny bullcrap from Borges. It has all the insight and evenhandedness as a jilted 14-year-old girl’s letter to an ex-boyfriend.

  7. If you watch the post-game presser for both Mangini and Favre, there was someone in there with a thick New England accent, asking both of them if they thought this win was a “changing of the gaaad”. It must have been him.

He also says that we better hope we don’t get a rubber match? Bring it baby!

  8. yeah Ferraro, that rubber match comment was the icing on the cake. I would love to see the Pats again in the playoffs, especially in our building.

  9. LOL on the old curmudgeon from the Globe. He needs some prune juice to clear his head a little.

I can’t be bothered to do all the math, but I’m sure the average age of the Jet roster in that game was not much different (one way or the other) from the Pats. But I suppose it gives him comfort to think of his “weary and wounded old king” (eeeww), putting up a valiant battle against “a strapping healthy young bully”.

They should transfer him to the Romantic Historical Fiction section of the paper. He could spend the rest of his career reviewing novels with Fabio on the cover.

  10. bob ryan went on around the horn today and said “whoop de-damn doo” to the jet win….. “no brady, maroney, adelius thomas….they were supposed to win”

does every boston writer act like such a loser??

  11. They were supposed to win? Really? Tell that to Vegas, morons. Pats fans were perfectly fine with being the favorite before the game, but as soon as they lost, they retroactively became the underdogs.

    Bob Ryan is a moron.

  12. Hey enjoy it. I love listening to these a-holes whine compared to their bragging.
