  1. Makes no different to me , we are still gonna kick their ass

  2. you know I find it funny the bills owned the AFC East for like 4 weeks straight and they are now about to end up in the bottom

  3. This is BS. What reason could they possibly have for doing this other than to avoid the whole “Western teams shouldn’t be playing at 1:00 Eastern” scrutiny. I haven’t seen the NFL do this with any other games. Explanation?

  4. When you look at the description for the jets 2008 ticket page linked there….

“2008 New York Jets Football Preview:
The New York Jets put together a disappointing season in 2007. There’s no other way to describe it, but there are bright spots for next year. With Chad Pennington’s shoulder surgery making his arm nearly ineffective, the Jets had to rely on undrafted backup Kellen Clemens to lead the team. Clemens has had his work cut out for him and has had to compete in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL, the AFC East, which includes the Patriots and Colts – probably the two best teams in the AFC. ”

The Colts are back in the division ey? hehe.

  5. And Clemens wasn’t undrafted..

  6. Makes a huge difference to me.

I live in Texas and am in New York for Thanksgiving weekend (with work early Monday morning). I had a flight scheduled for 7 and now I am in quite a tough situation. I planned my whole day around going to the Jets game (and invested a lot of money in the tickets). I hate that they have the right to move games when people make plans around the original time. Big bummer.

  7. Vinny -

Really sorry to hear that. Someone needs to demand an explanation from the NFL for why this was done. It’s not as if NBC chose it as its flex game and moved it to 8:15. This is unprecedented and very weird.

  8. JOE B….gotta assume this was one of the games CBS had a right to change the start time for with some kind of notice.

SO…think about it. jets are good, broncos are good even if they lose next week. A 4pm game is seen by more markets, so it makes sense for them to choose that game and make it a national telecast.

    …..the other 4pm CBS games are steelers pats….big game…falcons chargers pretty good…..but chargers 4-6…and chiefs raiders….weak.

SO they want 2 games that are worthy of of a national audience…some will see jets titans, some pats steelers…..nobody besides SD and ATL cities will see that game.

for those of us going to the denver game…..yes….it blows =)

MLB sells its soul to the networks…sunday day games become 820 first pitch ESPN games….world series start times……nba playoff games…

gotta deal with it….99% of the money made by fans going at 1pm is made by fans going at 4pm…..so the league / tv networks rule.

  9. CBS and Fox, along with NBC, have the right to “flex” games to make them their national feature game. CBS is probably banking on the fact that this game is a match of two teams that will likely be in first-place in their respective divisions. Also, it’s Dwayne Robertson’s return to the Meadowlands…that’s something NFL fans have been waiting for (please note the sarcasm).

  10. JOE….and others…

that “flex crap” we all heard about also applies to sunday games….but only means 1pm moves to 4pm type changes…

    scroll down to “flexible scheduling”….
note the paragraph….and read past the NBC part..

    Flexible-scheduling
Since the 2006 season, the NFL has used a “flexible-scheduling” system for the last seven weeks of the regular season where there is a Sunday night game. The system is designed so that the league has the flexibility in selecting games to air on Sunday night that will feature a more even or intriguing contest as well as make it possible for teams to play into prime time, so to speak.

Under the system, all Sunday games in the affected weeks in the Eastern and Central time zones will tentatively have the start time of 1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. PT). Those played in the Mountain or Pacific time zones will have the tentative start time of 4:05 p.m. ET (1:05 p.m. PT). Also, there will be one game provisionally slotted into the 8:15 p.m. ET slot. On the Tuesday twelve days before the games, the league will move one game to the prime-time slot (or keep its original choice), and possibly move one or more 1 p.m. slotted games to the 4 p.m. slot.

    …..note the last sentence….

it sucks for fans…cold weather…a game that starts at 4pm and ends at 730 instead of 4pm…maybe a 10-20 degree difference…..but we are 70,000 at the game…
they want millions to be able to see it at an easier time for them…including fans in denver where its earlier…

    such is life….

  11. They can change this game to a 6am start dosent matter. Unless B Marshall rips up the best corner in the league in D Revis we should eat the Broncos alive. They cant stop anyone and I think Bassett is suting up to play RB for them. Plus I have a noon birthday party for my niece that I was trying to get out of. Now I look like a real sweetheart and still see the game. Thanks for a ridiculous start change NFL. It helps this diehard.

  12. the reason the game is 4:15 is because the giants are playing in washington at 1p. the broncos are a west coast team. which game would you move to 4:15?

not really hard to figure this one out fellas.

  13. It’s annoying because it removes a competitive advantage for the Jets (one our divisional rivals have all enjoyed over any West Coast teams coming over here).

However, the Jets should be able to beat the Broncos anyway, if they’re becoming the legit contender we all hope.

  14. I wonder if the Jets-Dolphins game gets moved from 1 to 4 also in week 17. Giants are slated to play in Minnesota at 1pm, and the only CBS game at 4 is currently San Diego vs. Denver.

Is there a rule/policy as to how many times they can change the strarting time per team? I would also assume that either the Jets or Giants will have to move to 4pm that week.

  15. mole….if the jets and dolphins are still in a race for a playoff spot…its a lock that game will be moved to 4pm for a national audience.

and on a side note….anyone catch the end of the bills game last night??

specifically the HERM-LIKE play calling by jauron from the 34 with 38 secs left…..3 straight runs totalling 4 yards….and lindell misses a 47 yard fg…..

season on the line….and u pull that conservative crap…… juuuuust like herm did in the playoff game at pittsburgh….

  16. Yes, I get all the reasons but personally, it blows. My family is traveling to NY for the game and scheduled late evening flights home . Now it is either leave the game at half-time (for which we paid $600 for tickets) or change airline tickets and spend another $1,500 (ticket changes + hotel) plus miss an unscheduled day of work.
