I guess that makes some sense, but when the schedules are so dramatically different between NE and MIA, I think it's reasonable to expect the Dolphins to be more likely to be 10-5 or 9-6 than the Pats by Week 17. I don't see the Pats as nearly as much of a threat as the Dolphins. Therefore, if the Dolphins lose, that is good.

Joe B-

Since no one can empirically predict who's going to have what record based on upcoming schedule, I'd rather have the team win that I have a chance to take out head to head. If - for whatever flukey reason - we wind up being tied with the Pats for the division lead on the last day, we'll be at the mercy of math. If it's the Dolphins there's an opportunity to beat them straight up and take it.

subwayfare -

But the Pats aren't going 10-6, and we're most likely going to have a better division record than them. Miami has a much better chance of going 10-6.

I think you have to root for Miami because then you have a chance to control your own destiny in case of a tie. The first tie breaker is head to head, then division record. There's the possibility of a sweep with Miami in the season finale whereas we've split with the Pats.

Yeah, how silly it is to root for our best interests in games other than the ones we're playing. Let's just forget altogether that there are 30 other teams and numerous games every week that affect our playoff chances. We can only be asked to pay attention to so much!

If you don't think that the last three weeks have made up for the Raiders loss, then you probably also think that Brad Smith should be cut and Dustin Keller should be deactivated.

Again with this rooting for teams we hate.

If we win all our games, we win the AFCE and likely are the #2 team in the conference, get a bye, etc.

We needlessly blew a game versus the Raiders. The hated raiduhs. I don't think it is too much to hope we put one on the Titans to make up for it.

As others have posted, at least we should be able to stop their run.

Really, if the Fish and Pats win the rest of their games and we cannot, they deserve to play and we deserve to go home.

This weekend either NE or Miami takes a loss and that team can only afford one more loss the rest of the way. That should put two of the three teams in the rear view mirror.

If Farv gets injured on Sunday it's all over for the Jets boys, besides Chad isn't good enough to continue to be consistent.....Go Pats!

Once we get past Tenn, the Jets and Miami have about the same "weakness" of schedule. Guess who has the weakest ?

Ans: Indy even with playing Tenn the last game.
