Analysis: Titans vs. Solid Defenses
Just a couple of statistics to add to the discussion. The Titans have played three games against arguably good defenses (especially against the run). These were against Minnesota, Chicago and Baltimore. In these games their average rushing per game was 95.3 yards. Their overall offense in these three games was an average of 267.6 yards.
In these three games, the opposition committed eight turnovers. Still, they won two of the games by only a field goal. The exception, the Vikings game, ended 30-17 after four Minnesota turnovers.

We have to blitz Kerry Collins all day. His number one wideout is McStoneHands. No need to double team him, may not even need to cover him at all. They have a good TE, but not great. We need to cover him, but everyone else should be blitzing.
The Titans have had their share of problems running the football as of late, thanks mostly to teams daring Kerry Collins to beat them with his throwing arm.
Thankfully, KC has been up to the task. At WR, Brandon Jones has finally started to live up to his potential by making plays, and IMO, he should start ahead of the guy you all love to hate: J-Mac.
Should be a great game this Sunday.
I think we can beat these guys, all we have the run, I know what you guys are thinking , What about the Bears? well for them it was unexpected and their secondary isn’t all great, we have Revis, Law, Rhodes, Elam, and Lowery and we can force turnovers and we had a short bye week.
They play a complete game. I havnt watched them much this season but Jeff Fisher always coaches up his talent in all three phases. Kerry Collins is a deadly intermediate-long distance passer. Short range he telegraphs his passes and aims them. This should allow our lbs to tee off on screens and our secondary must be wary of getting beat deep. I expect our corners to cover like a blanket.
The TItans are certainly not insurmountable. The Jets run D needs to play well. With Jenkins in the middle they need to stop that fat @#$%$# Lendale White. Defense needs to put COllins on his back all day. The offense needs a big game from the workhorse Thomas Jones adn for FAvre not to throw those hasty picks he is so capable of. If the Jets can play relatively mistake free by not losing the ball, they have a great shot at handing Tennesse their first loss. Like their chances at home a lot better. Hopefully they can pull it out.
run the ball – stop the run – no turnovers = win the game…..and we will GO JETS
would anybody know why pittsburg has the tiebreaker over us right now?
johnl, better AFC record they are 6-1 we are 5-2

At least someone in the media picks the Jets to win….
Kewpie to Jim.
Good analysis.

I think the Titans are very beatable and the Jets match up well against them. At the same time the titans have this swagger about them and always seem to win their games.,..
JETS need to walk with their swagger to win this….
This game will be won or lost in the trenches. The Titans maul teams on both sides of the ball. Hopefully DE Vandenbosch stays on the sidelines. The RB that worries me is not White, but Chris Johnson, who is a major problem if he gets in space. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him as a primary receiver, along with TE Scaife. It’s really key that we get an early lead, take the crowd out of it and make them throw.
Titans play everyone close, we should be in this game to the end, they have been winning by making a few more plays then the opposition.
The only thing that scares me is the Titans do have that swagger. They have that “refuse to lose” mentality. They scracth and claw on every play. If we can match that, on talent alone we match up pretty well with them.
The Jets are actually 5-3 in conference, with losses to NE, SD, and Oak. We will need to finish with a better record than Pittsburgh to get the bye.
