46 Responses to “Pro Bowl Voting Leaders”

  1. Thomas Jones leads the AFC in rushing and he is not in the top 5? Come on Jets Fans…vote.

Don’t forget to vote for Revis, Ellis and Wright.

  2. This is what bothers me about the probowl voting…its all a popularity contest. Yes, Favre is one of the greatest Qs ever, but he is only playing well this year…not great. He is not playing anywhere near pro-bowl caliber.

And how can Revis not even be in the running? He has basically shut down every receiver that he has covered this year.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d like to see as many Jets at the probowl as possible just for bragging rights, but this fan voting is a joke. Hopefully the NFL personnel vote a little better than what is listed above.

  3. By far the most egregious errors in voting are TJ not being in the top 5, Leon being behind MJD, and KRIS JENKINS BEING 4th! How is it humanly possible that Marcus Stroud is getting more votes than Jenkins?! Not only has Jenkins played better, but he plays on a first place team, has been almost entirely responsible for the top 5 run-D, and is almost hands-down the team MVP.

  4. wow jets fans, revis not on there and Ryan Clark beating out Rhodes…everyone go vote vote vote!!!

  5. To make sure the Jets players move to the top, only vote for them and don’t use the other 1 or 2 available choices

  6. Faneca is not playing at a pro bowl level but is KILLING it this year.

TJ leads AFC in rushing and is behind Marshawn who has 200 fewer rushing yards, 3 fewer TDs, and almost 1.0 more YPC. He beats the crap out of every one of those backs (besides CJ) in stats. UGH

Jeff Saturday has been out half the season and is killing Mangold and the other centers.

Shaun Ellis is second among DE’s in the AFC in sacks!

People vote probowlers in by their Madden ratings, makes me furious.

  7. or atleast in the AFC-fill out the ballot for the NFC

  8. Keep in mind that voting started ridiculously early, before Thomas Jones began his ascent (and right around Favre’s 6-TD game) so the numbers may be skewed based on that. Luckily, fan voting only accounts for one-third of the selection process, so there’s more hope for TJ and Revis.

  9. Dan, look at the other QB’s on the list. Favre is playing as well as any of them, and he has his team in 1st place. With Brady out, and Manning’s Colts having somewhat of a down year, the AFC QB race is wide open. And Favre has the biggest name.

  10. Have you seen Manning in the past 4 weeks? He is fine and still the best QB in the NFL.

  11. Popularity contest. That is all.

  12. It’s also worth noting how many Steelers are in the top 5. They have so many fans voting for them. Stupid giant fanbase.

  13. where do you find the standings to see where everyone is ?

  14. Kerry Rhodes should be higher up, as should Revis, Jones, Jenkins, and Ellis.

The players should just be selected by writers or something, fan voting is absurd. But I’ve known this for quite some time, so it isn’t exactly news or anything.

  15. DanF, I agree with you that Favre is only playing well this year. But keep in mind that he is 39 and just switched to a team that runs a completely different offense. Aside from us jets fans, i dont think many people believed he could do what he has done so far for the jets. It cant be easy to switch to a different team with a different offense but if you do it and do it well that deserves pro bowl consideration. This is all just my opinion.

  16. Popularity Bowl voting sucks

  17. NY stand up for yourselves…how many years are we going to let Kerry Rhodes miss Hawaii? It’s stuff like this that keeps people out of the Hall of Fame, people.
    (i.e. Marvin Jones/Mo Lewis/Curtis Martin)

T.J. leads the AFC in rushing, and Mangold is one the best Centers in the NFL…How are we not voting for K. Jenkins?
    (T. Jones 854 yards, 9 TDs vs. L. Tomlinson 686 yards, 5 TDs)

This “bleepin” pisses me off. Jets get no love on TV, I blame the PR department. Mangini won’t let anybody else get some shine, but it’s okay, playoffs are more important anyway.

  18. For once in my life I voted for only Jets cause some of these guys are playing head and shoulders above people and are getting no credit

  19. coachmarv, Martin hasn’t been out of the league the mandatory 5 years yet. He’ll be a first ballot HOF winner when he passes those 5 years. I’m also not sure Jones and Lewis are HOF caliber either. Klecko is the clear example of a HOF snub for the Jets.

Pro Bowls do help a candidate, but the Superbowl is really the factor that keeps the players in or out of the HOF. Teams that won the SB and were dominant tend to have more HOF players than teams like the Bills who went 4 times but never won it. And the players that won get voted in faster. Look at how long it took the HOF to get Kelly in. If Norwood makes that kick in SB XXV, Kelly would have been in on the 1st or 2nd ballot.

  20. what no votes for ty law, are you f’in kidding me!!! coachmarv, are you by chance marv jones sr? as in marvin jones father??

  21. This is why the Pro Bowl is a complete farce. The league needs to install an electoral college in the pro bowl voting process.

  22. sec108. the NFL does not release the overall voting as best i can tell … they send out emails to reporters, it seems.

  23. thanks bassett, I was just curious, glad to see you (tjb) made the reporters cut.

  24. Come on, coachmarv. It is not the fault of Jets fans that Jets players don’t make the Pro Bowl often enough. Not only is fan voting open to anyone and everyone, but fan votes are only 1/3 of the calculation, if I understand correctly. (Where are these numbers from? I assume this is fan only?) The Jets are not usually a highly regarded franchise, so they’re not on national TV as much, their players are not household names, and their players are just not going to be as highly regarded by fans or their opposing players and coaches.

There are plenty of negative things to be said about my fellow Jets fans, but I don’t think that a lack of stuffing the Pro Bowl ballots is one of them.

In any event, I find it really interesting that Jenkins is not higher up, and that Leon Washington is not at the top for kick returning. I mean, come on. I guess at the end of the day, it comes down to, who is a household name? People know the Jets are a contender and they know they got Favre. They may not know who Washington or Jenkins are or why they make such a big difference.

But hey, how often do we have a QB considered at the top of this list? That alone is a wonderful thing.

  25. DON’T VOTE FOR ANY JETS PLAYERS!

Yes, You got it right and here is why:
football games are won by good players not by famous players (just ask Cowboys and Chargers). By voting Jets players to the pro bowl You are helping to generate hype around them and in turn forcing us to spend money on escalators and bigger contracts. Let us keep our good players to ourselves as long as possible and let them win games for us, not in a stupid Hawaiian media show!

  26. Rasmus, not a bad thought

  27. were bad fans vote vote vote!!!!!!

  28. Favre played well last year as well……………….Jay Cutler is a young version of Favre!!

  29. Im surprised that D’turnstile Ferguson is regarded so well by many fans.

Only reason Faneca has soo many votes is because Steelers fans love him or still think he is on their team. Plus you have to add the Jets fan votes also.

  30. I am not surprised that Favre is number one, and I think the comments on how he is playing are too harsh. For the reasons already mentioned, he is 39, learning a new system, etc. He also was the number one vote-getter last year too. He is incredibly popular since he is also a stud. The female fans love him too. I am sorry to say that Jet fans are just not as rabid as the Steeler or Pack fans. Maybe you’ve been overshadowed too long. Hopefully, this will be a break out year for you. At least the fan vote is only one-third, not like the baseball All Star game.

  31. What an embarrassment that TJ and Hell Relle aren’t listed and that Jenk is fourth. It’s one thing to be a homer, it’s another to vote for guys you know have no business even being in the stands at the Pro Bowl.

  32. JAKE LONG THE BEST L TACKLE IN THE AFC!!! This is truly disgusting. I can understand Hanynesworth mabye getting the most votes, but Jinx has to be a close second. This is a joke man. Im really pissed reading this. dcpackerfan thanks for the info about the fans only one third of the vote. Im pretty sure the players coaches etc will put TJ, Revis and Jinx in. Those guy ABSOLUTELY DESERVE TO GET IN. Im going to vote right now…

  34. “Im surprised that D’turnstile Ferguson is regarded so well by many fans.”

It boggles my mind that people are still thinking like this. He’s given up one sack all season* (on an inside stunt against the Chargers when the Jets were down like 20) and has developed from a poor run blocker to an above average one.

    * I think officially he has been credited with two sacks because on two occasions he and Faneca were given a half sack-allowed each when a linemen got to the QB in the gap between them, both times against the Pats and both times more due to Faneca’s tardiness because Brick’s assignment was to protect against a rush from the outside and then help out on Faneca’s man (Seymour) if no rush came.

The sacks allowed stat is pretty useless anyway – for example last year against, guess who, the Titans, he allowed three sacks to Kyle Van Den Bosch, only two were Adrian Clarke’s fault and one was a coverage sack. In the one other game where the Jets saw a lot of pressure, Brick was beaten once by Kalimba Edwards, but recovered to force him back out of the play as Favre stepped up.

I can’t put any stock into the votes because there are so many ridiculous omissions and overrates across the board, but the days where you could call Ferguson D’Bust or D’Turnstile are long gone.

  35. I go on nfl.com everyday and vote as many times as possible. IT IS ABSOLUTELY ABSURD FOR DARRELLE REVIS TO MISS THE PRO BOWL. Other players like TJones, Kris Jenkins, Ellis, Mangold, all deserve strong consideration as well. EVERYONE GO ON NFL.COM AND VOTE 20 TIMES A DAY. IF THATS WHAT IT TAKES, THEN WE’LL DO IT. PLEASE EVERYONE GO ON TO NFL.COM AND VOTE FOR THESE PLAYERS THAT DESERVE TO MAKE IT. IF YOU DONT VOTE, YOU HAVE NO REASON TO COMPLAIN. GO VOTE

  36. I gotta be honest, I’m not to concerned about the pro bowl. Let’s beat the Titans.

  37. Bent -

Good post. If you still think Brick is a bust, you really don’t watch the Jets. The guy’s developed into a top tier left tackle.

  38. i love how they expect people to vote for positions like oline and fullback. the apathetic or un-knowledgable fan will vote based upon what reporters say only. I mean who studies the linemans’ form in blocking or how fast he comes off the ball? (outside of someone with absolutely no life or someone who gets paid to do it) The nfl should disregard any votes put forth by fans and just pretend to be a democracy like our country. Just kidding, Americas great, were just fat and lazy

  39. plus it seems this election is more controversial than our latest presidential one. just putting it out there. BaREVIS THE VOTE. not as catchy as BARACK THE VOTE but im trying

  40. Thomas Jones leads the AFC in rushing and is close to the top with 9 TD’s rushing. LC and JC are both ranked around 15th in the league in pass catching so I can see them being left off. Kris Jenkins is dominating the middle, and is the leader of the highest ranking run defense in years. Revis has as many INT’s as Cortland Finnegan, and shouid at least be 2nd on the list. Lastly, Leon Washington has a return for TD, and is getting 30 yards per kick return the last few weeks. Just horrible people! Lets fix this.

  41. Jerod Mayo right now is better than James Farrior, and I Know he is a rookie, but that dude is a beast. How in the world is Tedy Bruschi in the top five and he only has 24 solo tackles which is not even have as much as Jerod Mayo’s. This is a joke that this is the way it is because , I just have to say to everyone; please watch Mayo play and call me crazy but tell me he is not the best player on this Bill Belichick coached defensive as a rookie !!!

  42. Come on Jets fans let get Chad Pennington to the Pro Bowl!! I know Farve is better than Chad but Thanks a lot. How did you guys go 4-12 with him?? Oh thats right last year Mangini thought Clemens was the answer. He’s a genious!!

    Go Dolphins!!

  43. hahahahaha good one jcb clemins what a joke chads a beast thanks remember j-e-t-s suck suck suck i cant wait for the last game whan we beat you for the division and yay yerimiah bell is in there sweet

it is a popularity contest thats why players and coaches should be only allowed to vote

  44. hahaha jerod mayo is better than farrior what a joke your just a dumb pats fan

  45. Wait until Chad’s balls start floating in the wind. You haven’t seen Chad ball yet. Enjoy and learn how to spell.

  46. Tony Gonzalez All the way Baby He’s straight pounding on them line backers, safetys, and corner’s. He should had the most votes 4 the tight end spot…
