Remember David Harris!

by droseatwork on November 23rd, 2008 at 8:00 pm

My man Eric Barton and David Bowens have been holding it down. Harris’s return will allow Bowens to focus more on pass rush. Harris is also a beast against the run.

Just something more to look foward to Jets Fans!

Oh right, I completely forgot Harris is not playing, once again this is a side affect of having Kris Jenkins, you don’t need your star LB to stop the run, but wait till this guy comes back, hopefully in time for Bills

  2. avatar Big A says:

Barton has been great making stops in the gap on run plays. These guys have elevated their games with Harris out, although I think Bowens is vulnurable in some pass situations.

Speaking of Jenkins, I missed most of the fourth quarter- what’s the word on his injury?

  4. avatar LIMM says:

It was a foot injury, but they really did not elaborate past that…any updates?

  5. avatar JUNIOR says:

Eric Barton has always been solid i think he didnt fit the herm system and now in the 3-4 he’s feelin it as for Harris he needs to come back strong or come end of the season were in trouble

  6. avatar cbiscuit says:

I had binoculars on Jenkins when he went off. He was rubbing his hip, but actually laughing with a couple teammates. Can’t imagine this is anything serious.

  7. avatar EddieC says:

wait, when is harris supposed to return??

  8. avatar JUNIOR says:

in the post game interview he said he was cleated and just needed to compose himself

I think Barton is still better at pass D than run D, but he has been playing better than I could have imagined. But Harris is the most complete ILB we have. Glad to have him back.

The win over the Titans was a great victory and hopefully this now means the coaches and players are finally on the same page!!

  11. avatar Jose the Jet says:

Can it get any better? Harris is coming back. Nobody is seriously hurt. Top 5 in the NFL. All we need is a first round by this year. But first Denver!!!

I’m crazy excited about the direction of the team and how were just eatin everybody for dinner, but the better and better we do, that lucky win the raiders had on us keeps comin back to haunt me, hopefully it doesn’t cost us a first round bye, anybody get the same notion?

  13. avatar Frank Cip says:

cant agree more. barton is such an underrated part of our defense. does alot of the little things you overlook. dont get me wrong i cant wait till my boy harris is back and he will just help our on fire defense.

By the way is he going to be back for the denver game.. anyone know??

  14. avatar Harlan Lachman says:

Mr. Rose, Any word on the alleged Lowery injury?

    harlan

  15. avatar Frank Cip says:

does anyone watch Gholston when he comes onto to field..i do.. and all i have to say is god almighty he better wake is ass up and make his 6th overall pick be worth it

  16. avatar Drew says:

Having the beast Jenkins makes Harris’s injury much less a factor. It not like Bowens is doing anything special. Barton is playing nasty hard nosed ball. Got to love this guy unless he is hitting the QB late in the playoffs

I have a feeling Harris will come back with a bang and make us remember why we fell in love with his brutal tackling.

Here’s something to chew on Jets fans. Right now, the Steelers are in the bye slot because of a better conference record (7-1 to the Jets’ 6-3). The Steelers have 4 conference games left against the Ravens, Browns, Titans and, next week, against the Pats. The Jets have 3 AFC games left (Broncos, Bills, Dolphins, all at home). So, do we root for the unthinkable? Do we want the Pats to beat the Steelers?

  20. avatar Dan says:

Yea, when is Harris coming back, he makes mention about him, but never says when or gives a time table…..

  21. avatar James in TN says:

Please don’t mention Gholston , it’s a buzzkill. This victory was awesome and Oakland throttling Denver takes a little of the sting away from the Oakland loss. Just a little. I love being in first place. WOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!!
    Go Jets!!!!

Frank Cip…I watch for him all the time and when he is on the field, he plays like he has no heart, like someone who has no interest in the game and plays like he has no idea what he is doing, what to expect and his read and react skills are terrible…I want him to step up so bad and show a glimmer of what he is capable of doing, but he he shows us more of what the negative wrap on him was…did you see him get decleated from a chip block from the RB when they were using him and Murrell to rush as ends when they were playing the prevent? his lack of hustle was noticeable when he turned on a play to run downfield and he half-ass jogged and Murrell was flying like a bat out of hell to chase the play down…he plays like he has no heart…it seems more and more like he is not a football player and instead more of weight lifter…very disappointing…especially when you consider it was garbage time…

  23. avatar dan says:

Yea Gholston is a huge disappointment i hope he gets widely noticed for his horrible play, and (david i), I did see that play where he got thrown to the ground like a rag, and its so disappointing to see where the jets money is going to. I hope he is noticed for his horrendous plays, and gets criticized more so he can be pressured into being a better player. Because he looks like the biggest bust i ever seen as a jets fan recently. I mean our first round 6th overall pick is playing special teams, anyone tell me where these other first rounds are playing special teams, cause you won’t they are all starting!!!!!

  24. avatar Frank Cip says:

david i… have to say i didnt see that play in particular but it definetly doesnt shock me. he doesnt even play good on special teams. you would think a guy with his alleged speed and strength would be able to get down the field on kickoffs but i rarely see him.. i see wallace wright, brad smith, murrell, and Ihedigbo all the time.. and what are they late draft picks or guys picked up off the scrap heap.. not 6th overall

believe me i hope he proves us rong and can play outside linebacker and book end on passing downs. if not oh well we got a good batch of players from this draft and all the other drafts under this regime.
