1. There is no way the Pats are franchising Cassell. With a $10MM franchise tag it would mean $20MM+ tied up in the QB position.
2. Cassell is in his fourth year in the same system. He will not be a solid QB in his first year in a new system. Any team that is not in a rebuilding mode will probably want to pass on signing him.

I'd love to see how Ratliff would fare- the guy was a highlight reel this summer. Personally, Clemens seems to be less intriguing to me- we know what he can do and we know what to expect. And who knows about Body-Builder/IR QB Erik Ainge. It would be nice to get another year of Favre- I'm not holding out hope on that though.

We argue it every couple days. At this point can't say all that much. Pennington wouldn't have won the last two games.

And I dont think the Jets are going to be looking for a quarterback this up coming offseason, whether or not Favre retires.

They have Kellen Clemens, Brett Ratliff, and Eric Ainge already under contract and waiting to be tested

Personally, I have not given up on Clemens, rather am very intruiged about Brett Ratliff.

I still like Clemens and some others do too. Ratliff became popular with his strong preseason. Next training camp it should be a good battle if Clemens (in his contract year) loses I believe he will be traded to a QB needy team.
