Titans Don’t Think They Lost to a Better Team

Clearly some of the Titans leaders don’t feel like they lost to an opponent that is better than them.

Keith Bulluck, LB — “I’m not going to sit here and keep complimenting them at all. Defensively we didn’t answer the bell and that’s it. Not to discredit them [but] I don’t think that team is better than us. They were today, definitely by far. They put a lot of points up and held us to very few. They are definitely one of the top teams in the AFC. We got embarrassed at home, [but] we are going to do our damndest to make sure anything playoff-wise in the AFC is coming through Tennessee. Football is a mentality. A game like this toughens an already tough team.”

Albert Haynesworth, DL — “I think we are. We just didn’t have a good game. They played really good ball. We didn’t show up. We didn’t play nowhere near as good as we can.”

That’s fine, they can think what they want, but every undfedeated team is going to face a game like this eventually, it just happened to come to the rising Jets.

Clearly the Titans didn’t lose their confidence, but from watching the game, you could tell they were extremely frustrated towards the end of the game and got quite chippy. I’m sure they’re looking forward to a rematch … but we’ll just have to see how they would do things differently next time.

  1. that comes from the head coach on down…hes a sore loser too….they play dirty and got a bunch of calls in the first half…it’s tough to say you got beat by a better team…but we DESTROYED them yesterday….the better team clearly won…and if we see them again….we’ll beat them again

  2. [...] land on against Detroit on Thursday, but a tough twosome to finish the season) Via The Jets Blog: the Titans don’t think the Jets are a better team. (Patriots 7-4) Nov 30 PIT @ NE Gillette Stadium 4:15 PM Dec 07 NE @ [...]

  3. Well if the Midgets play well enough the rest of the way, maybe we can convince them we are better come the playoffs.

  4. Did Haynesworth play yesterday? The only time I heard his name mentioned was when he got hurt- twice.

  5. They got whooped. Aww poor babies are 10-1 and lost to the best team they have played. Waa waa. Get them their bottle. Big year this year. Maybe the best Jets team I have seen.

    J! E! T! S! JETS! JETS! JETS!

  6. I mailed a box of tissues to Tennessee. I mailed a separate box for Lendale White. Have you seen his postgame interview? He sounds like TO. He thinks HE woulda been the differerence.

  7. Actually I like Jeff Fisher a lot as a coach (he’s a very smart individual and I give him all the credit in the world for his team’s success) but the Jets did win.

That doesn’t mean we should get all cocky and start mouthing off about the Super Bowl. As far as I’m concerned there’s still a legitimate chance we won’t make the playoffs at all, so in spirit of the Jets’ collective sentiment: one game at a time.

  8. JB- Duly noted on our ability to miss the playoffs, but we haven’t had reason to be so excited in a long time. Lets enjoy it.

  9. The fact is they don’t match up well against the Jets. I think the Pats would whoop them too, with a similar game plan. And they’ll have no answer for Rothlisberger and Pittsburgh’s bunch formations, either. For all their whining about how much better they are than everyone else, this team could be one and done in the playoffs.

  10. This was the first time that they played a 3-4 defense this year. They definitely did not match up well against the Jets.

Jets had 2 turnovers and still won by 21 points. Give me a break Tenn… we beat the crap out of you at home.

  11. I haven’t thought much of them this season. They beat up on weak teams and squeaked by the better teams. They now got a taste of what a real team can do to them. Collins was exposed as a mediocre QB at best. They can’t run the ball and they can’t stop the run. Good luck in January.

  12. It’s always arguable who the “better team” is but if you’re losing to teams that are worse than you, that isn’t exactly a good thing either. I wonder if teams around the league are still underestimating us- not necessarily a bad thing.
Let’s build off this great win this week; Denver’s always a contender and a solid squad never to be looked over.
    Go Jets!

  13. Every time I hear a team cry like this, I’m reminded of this line from the “Usual Suspects”:

“The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist. And like that, poof. He’s gone.”

Yes, the Jets are Keyser Soze and let’s hope the rest of the NFL still thinks we’re like Verbal Kint or “the same old Jets.” If they do then “poof” we could have our 1st Lombardi Trophy (our AFL-NFL championship trophy is so old that it wasn’t even named for Lombardi).

  14. Great fact Sack now I’m even more depressed about the championship drought. If we keep playing the way we are my saving just in case we ever go to the Superbowl may no longer be the joke it has been. Bring it on Denver and your non existant defense.

  15. Titans call the WAAAMBULANCE!!! They got pushed around a little bit yesterday, now they cant take it. Classic bully team, couldn t rise to the challenge when a worthy opponent smacked them back… 10 and 1

  16. we are the only legit team they have faced and we squished them… they were never the best team in football

  17. Why would the Titans think were better?? We only walked into the home stadium and whipped thier ass for 4 quaters. We ate up thier great run game and punched their scary defense in the mouth. This game was a laugher…….Dont these people think Elvis is still alive??

  18. Titans are not the better team in any sense….the Jets know how to put teams away this year unlike it seems like the last fourty years and the Jets are really coming together as a team….. the first couple of games were rough because Favre was learning the new system as quickly as possible but i can see the Jets running the table and possibly a number one seed because I see this loss coming back to hurt the Titans and they still have to play the surging Colts….Good Luck Titans you can’t stop anyone and you cant run the ball……Try to win in the the playoffs i see them one and done

  19. We were clearly outplayed yesterday but you cannot fault players for thinking their team is the best in the league. If you don’t think your team is the best with a 10-1 record then you have some confidence issues. The Titans have been riddled with injuries the last few weeks not to mention we were outschemed. However, I would watch the confidence level if I were you guys. As I can vouch for things can change very quickly in this league. I still can’t understand why Heimerdinger went to the pass so quickly. 11 total rushes? You’ve gotta be kidding me!
Either way good game guys. For the most part your fans were pleasant and all ribbing was in good fun. I won’t fault you for the bad ones. We’ve all got em. Look forward to seeing you guys in the playoffs!

  20. We didn’t understand Heimerdinger either. Thats why he left the team.

  21. Big W. I think the hype of the undefeated season went to some players heads. Also, it looks like your team didn’t take the Jets seriously enough.

Maybe they just studied the tape of the Pats moving the ball against our “prevent” defense last week too much. Anyway, I can’t say that you were doing much running the ball.

If the receivers didn’t drop so many passes, the game might have been closer. I don’t blame Heimerdinger for those drops.

I’m sure you guys will be ready next time we meet, but I don’t think it’ll make that much of a difference.

  23. Words mean so little..They gave us no respect, and now they’re talkin trash after getting spanked like little girls.

    Jets are for real!!

  24. I don’t think it was disrespect or the fact that we didn’t take you seriously. I know the guys over on our blog had been apprehensive about the J E T S for awhile now. Granted the drops were a huge problem for us (as they have been for the past 3 years) but at the same time 11 total rushes is a joke. Gotta give your guys credit on both lines. They are tough. Should be a fun playoff matchup
