According to the Denver Post, re Robertson:

While playing exclusively on first and second downs as part of the Broncos' eight-man, game-day rotation along the front four, Robertson has brought a quiet, lunch-pail presence.

The situational role has served not only to keep Robertson fresh but produced other big-picture consequences. The Jets will receive nothing in terms of draft-pick compensation for Robertson if he plays less than 65 percent of the snaps this season. He is playing considerably less and isn't expected to approach that threshold by season's end.

i agree that the line has looked much much better lately. but i don't think it's unreasonable to want a 3rd year tackle drafted number 4 overall to be able to pass block against a strong bull rusher . . . it seems that he's no longer d'bust but rather d'average.

Drob has started all but one of Denver's games, and the condition on copmensation is 65% persent of the plays, so looks like that may happen...

Kendall - 2009 4th rounder

Vilma - As reported above BUT a New Orleans blogger reported that their owner said he definitely wouldn't extend Vilma until after the draft. This would prevent the conditions for a 2nd rounder from being met. Since they also traded a second rounder for Shockey, they would instead have to give the Giants their first rounder if the 2nd rounder went to the Jets and they apparently are willing to risk Vilma hitting the open market first. As it was reported, I think the playing time (which he will meet easily unless he gets hurt) still enables a possible third rounder (but if the Jets do get an extra 2nd or 3rd, they send their 4th to the Saints).

Robertson - Nobody knows, but based on differing reports, it seems likely that the best the Jets can expect is a late-rounder (6th or 7th). Denver's line has been effective at times, but DRob himself has not been statistically productive. His knee is always going to be an issue, so maybe they got rid of him at the right time.

I can't wait until March 1st when Woody flies Cassell in on his jet, takes around NYC in a helicopter and then out to Florham Park to meet Favre and does it just to irk Belicheat...of course, he leaves without a contract, but at least they get a chance to irriatate the hell out of everyone in Foxborough.

I did some research on the internet and here is what I found out:

Kendall - 2009 4th round pick from Washington

Roberson - 2009 3rd round pick from Denver; if in on 65% or more of the Denver's 2008 defensive snaps, if this condition not met the no comp...

Vilma - 2008 4th round pick from New Orleans; 2009 2nd round pick from New Orleans; if in on 85% or more of the New Orleans 2008 defensive snaps and resigned to new contract, and return the 2008 4th round pick with 2009 pick, if this condition not met the no further comp...

I think there is "gentleman's" agreement to not purposely not playing someone because of trade comp... otherwise other teams would shy away from trades with that team... Not like we would sit Farve...

billvv,

I have and still will call for a new defensive coordinator instead of Sutton. I think Mangini has alot to do with why the defense is better. Sutton is to conservative for me and you can see that when the team has a lead the defense lets up. He is trying to protect a lead and is almost always backfires...

Out with Sutton....

The terms of Vilma becoming a number 2 pick were 85% of defensive plays and a contract extension. IF that happens, then the Saints would have to give the Giants their number 1 pick for the Shockey trade, so I have a feeling Vilma will either have a few games off towards the end of the season, or will not get extended.

I don't remember the exact terms of the D-Rob, but I remember that there was little chance to get more than a seven for him.

Piggy backing on David I and JustAGreenGuy... Can someone summarize what the Jets have going in 2009 draft (trades of Kendall, Roberson and Vilma)?
