Silver Lining? At least writers won’t wax poetic on a New York Super Bowl (GAG!!!!) for the next month. Cimini pens a pretty good sum up of yesterday’s game in the Daily News.
After what Mangini felt was a lackluster week of practice, the Jets proved they couldn’t handle prosperity following huge wins over the Titans and Patriots. This was a sobering dose of reality for those who thought they were going to waltz into the playoffs. The only positive was that the Patriots lost to the Steelers, allowing the Jets to maintain sole possession of first place in the AFC East, a game ahead of New England and Miami.
“This was a wake-up call,” cornerback Darrelle Revis said.
Said running back Leon Washington: “It was good to get that humble pie after Thanksgiving.”
It left them with a bad case of indigestion. Asked to comment on Cutler’s performance, affable safety Kerry Rhodes snapped, “I don’t like him. I don’t want to talk about him.”
Now it’s official: The Jets’ pass defense, ranked 26th at the start of the day, is a major concern.
The Broncos whupped the Jets something fierce, that’s clear. The players were expecting a lot from fans yesterday, but in voicing their expectations of us, they forgot that they were supposed to contribute to the game as well. Believe it or not Jets players, fans can’t tackle Peyton Hillis from the stands.
You knew this game was coming eventually. The good thing is that at least it’s out of the way.
I don’t know if this team was looking past the Broncos but it sure looked to be the case when I was at the game yesterday. But I won’t just blame the players, the Jets schemed no effective pressure on Cutler and Schotty was back to his old third/fourth and short throwing tricks, and it just was a pathetic game all around. My hope is that after two big wins, the loss yesterday will serve as yet another wake-up call to this team, much like the Oakland game was. This team needs to determine who they are and who they want to be.
The Broncos bested them all day yesterday, no matter whether there were questionable calls or not. There’s just a certain feel for this team when I watch them and that fire was never there.
Ther are two other teams (Ravens & Colts) with eight wins and two lagging divisional teams with seven (Patriots & Miami). With yesterday’s loss, going 10-6 doesn’t guarantee a playoff spot. The Jets have two teams on their heels for the division, and many more jockeying for the Wild Card. The team now has four games left. Two divisional at home and two west coast trips. Time to

i wasnt there but from what i could hear throught the tv despite the horrible weather the fans seeemed very loud and electric for the beginning of the game until they all realized that it was not going to be a jets victory…
as soon as the fumble by cotchery happened and the indeciveness of the horrible refs in the first half i knew the game was going to result in a bad loss….
i would love to have the refs heads for that game yesterday it wasnt all their fault but you would expect them to get some calls right
i would love to play denver in the play offs….cuz i think our defense will have a chip on their shoulder and i would love to see nothing more then jay cutler being paralyzed by big jinx…
karma is a b**** jay so keep on running your mouth look wat happen to tom brady
and on one more note shanahan is scum bag
The only possible positive takeaway from this is that we all knew they were going to do this at least once in the last five games- but does anybody really think we won’t give one to Buffalo or Miami like we usually do? This was huge- it means no 1st round bye, probably, and might even jeopardize a playoff berth. Really bad loss.
THATS RIGHT RHODES!!!! YOU DONT LIKE HIM AND HE WILL KEEP DOING WHAT HE DID YESTERDAY EVERYTIME YOU FACE HIM UNTIL YOU THROW HIM OFF. RHODES WAKE UP!!!!! RHODES WAKE UP!!!!!
YOU ARE PLAYING WITH YOUR HEAD CUT OFF!!!!!
THE PASS DEFENSE IS SUFFERING BACK THERE!!! YOU NEED TO TAKE CONTROL OF IT. YOU SET THE EXAMPLE BACK THERE!!!! DO IT!!!! GET IT DONE NOW!!!! YOU ARE WASTING TIME AND HURTING THE PASS DEFENSE BY NOT STEPPING UP YOUR GAME. YOU YELL AT YOUR PLAYERS BUT THEY DONT RESPOND DIFFERENTLY TO STOP THE BLEEDING. A TRUE LEADER SHOULD TAKE OVER WHENEVER HE SEES HIS FOLLOWERS ARE STRUGGLING!!!! TAKE OVER NOW!!!! OR WE WILL GET SOMEBODY ELSE TO TAKE OVER BACK THERE.
It was a bad loss, but this was the best team left on our schedule and they played like it.
IT LOOKS LIKE FARVE AND RHODES TOGETHER TALK TOO MUCH TO EACH OTHER AND THEIR PERFORMANCES WERE UNACCEPTABLE AS CAPTAINS BACK THERE YESTERDAY. WE CAME OUT SLUGGISH AND THEY DID NOTHING TO CHANGE IT!!!!
WE CAN’T LOSE ANOTHER GAME !!!!!! I HOPE WE DONT FU*K IT UP!!!! GO JETS!!!!!!!!!!
I DONT KNOW WHAT WE’RE YELLING ABOUT
Our major concern yesterday was not stopping the run. We knew we couldn’t stop the pass, But we should have stopped the run putting them in tough passing situations. That didn’t happen, it rained, the refs screwed up about 6 plays.(some in our favor, but most not) and things just didn’t roll our way. It happens.
I think Shanahan’s statement that they thought this was maybe the best team they’d face this year was telling. They prepared and played like it. Much like the Jets did at Tennessee. The Jets prepared and played like they were taking on an average team they were annoyed to have to get out of bed on a rainy day for.
VCD, nice post, you had me laughing
As a Broncos fan, I’m not going to lie. This win was AWESOME! Cutler definitely outplayed that stupid hick Brett Favre. With injuries decimating us on every side, we’re 7-5. I guess Shanny knows what he’ s doing after all!
Our defense played just like we did all last year… no pressure, poor tackling, and a tendency to give up big 3rd down conversions/ big plays.
Dude you’re from Colorado, can you call people Hicks? Guess it depends on the part. Cutler did play a great game tho.
Brad, real injuries or fake injuries? ;)
Brad James – In case you did not see, this is the Jets Blog!!!
Go find a Broncos site to rant on.
You can talk to your fellow Denver fans about Cutler, Shanahan, country music and Omelets.
Go Jets!!
Mangini didn’t have this team prepared to play,The Jet’s secondary has been weak link all year!! The 49er’s will beat them this week. There “D” is pretty good with better secondary than the bronco’s……The Jet’s will be lucky to finish 9-7 and to top it off they will lose to the dolphin’s and the phin’s will make the playoff’s……………Watch and see!!
Keep this mind. Almost exactly a year ago, the team across town loss a similar type game to the Vikings at home 41-17. Eli was picked off 3 times for TDs that day. You can move on and get better from such games.
Tc? are you feeling alright?
In case you haven’t noticed, Buffalo is falling apart, Miami is banged up bad and are finally losing their effectiveness their gimmicks on offense, and Seattle is one of the worst teams in the league. SF is ok, they’re defense is better than Denver’s, but they still just barely squeaked by Buffalo and that was their first win against a winning opponent. To go 1-3 the rest of the way is abig stretch and you should step back off the ledge very soon.
What is the reason you cannot challenge a fumble play? I don’t understand that.
And Shannahan should be fined for teaching his players to go down with injury every time we got a first down…it’d be ok if they didn’t make the injury look so serious only to come back and play a series later.
Here’s what I posted in the other thread:
“Whether a fumbled ball has or has not been recovered is not reviewable (imagine trying to review that in a pile-up of players). However, down by contact IS reviewable and Stevie Wonder could have seen that Cotchery had possession of the ball before contact was made. Atrocious call by the on-field officials and a dumb interpretation of the rules. Maybe the league thought they owed the Broncos one because of the Hochuli fiasco, but how is that fair to the Jets? When Royal fell onto the bobbled kickoff, Wallace Wright should have pummelled him into the endzone just to prove a point, unnecessary roughness penalty or not. See if you can hold onto that…”
As for the feigning injuries…I see enough of that in soccer, thank you very much. But if it’s not in the rulebook, then it can only be called gamesmanship, not cheating…sadly.
Evan,
Feeling just fine! Believe me I’d like nothing more than the Jet’s to win out………But you have to admit the secondary has been terrible all year.A good team doesn’t play the way the Jet’s did yesterday this late in the season. The Jet’s don’t travel well, look at the SD and Oakland game’s…….You can’t go by the team’s record’s…..And you don’t think that Pennington won’t be fired up for the last game??
It’s a very real possibility………..
Go 7-2 in your last 9 games, including wins against the Titans, Pats and Buffalo all on the road and now the sky is falling? I think we have to look at the Bills, who just lost to the 49ers, at home, and lost their starting QB to a groin injury. And, while I applaud the Fins for their impressive comeback season, has anyone noticed that they barely squeak by bad teams? The Fins face the Bills in Toronto next week and the loser is, for the most part, out of the playoff picture. So, let’s go Buffalo!!! I want the Jets to take care of business these last 4 weeks. The Bills, 49ers and Seahawks all have offensive woes and the Jets loss to Oakland and the sting of this loss should cause them to treat those West Coast games very seriously. The Jets can stop the running games of the next 4 teams and, with all due respect to Chad, none of the remaining QBs have Cutler’s skill set or weapons. I’ll take a “bad day at the office” loss to a good, although inconsistent, team like the Broncos, but the next 4 games will really tell us what this team is made of.
No pash rush, can’t cover the TE. These are things to be worked on. But, maybe they were due for a stinker.
I just don’t understand how Thomas Jones had some big runs, other than his 2 TD runs, and we were providing him with some good holes with our O-line vs their smaller D-line, and we don’t give him the ball more. In a wet game where its harder to throw and catch than to handoff, why do we choose to do the former? Not to mention 2 consecutive short-pass calls on 3rd and 4th down.
Bent, I was thinking the same thing with the Royal fumble on the kick-off. At least try and knock that ball loose.
S
Fumbles should still be re-viewable for the simple fact that if you can’t see it through a pile of players than state how there was no definitive evidence, play stands…whats the harm in that? At least it’ll provide other fumble-plays, where a good angle is available for, a more accurate review.
Did anyone notice how Gholston made no attempt to force Cutler into a bad throw? He was pursuing and when within reach did not dive at him instead waiting until he was right next to him to touch him. With a big frame, he should have thrown himself at Cutler forcing Cutler to either make a poor throw or even get sacked. And that was big long-distance 1rst down throw.
The Dolphins are basically the 2006 Jets. Revitalized team with some good pieces, very well coached, playing over its head but not a real threat in the end. The Bills are falling apart, we match up well with them and get them at home.
I HATE the two west coast trips in three weeks and take nothing for granted, but the Jets should be able to handle both teams if they stay sharp and play to ability.
One game at a time, though.
You know I really REALLY enjoy RHODES AND WHAT HE SAID ABOUT THE GAME.
“WE WERE BAD AT TACKLING” OKAY WE WERE BAD AT TACKLING ARE YOU DONE POINTING THE FINGER AT OTHER PLAYERS? POINT TO YOURSELF!!! MENTION YOURSELF FOR ONCE!!!
The Jets need a “statement” win this week in San Fran.
That statement better be that they are aware of their shortcomings and will dominate in other areas to win football games.
Run Thomas Jones and then run Leon Washington and then stop the 49ers running game.
Pace and Thomas need some help in coverage so they can rush the passer. Only 6 sacks for the Defense in the last 4 games is not getting it done. The 49er QB’s have been sacked 43 times this year. Only the Detroit QB’s have been sacked more.
Nice post Bent, Wright should have creamed Royal as he flopped around trying to pick up the ball, it would have been well worth the 15, simply an atrocious call on the Cotchery non fumble. The Jets secondary has been a concern all season, San Diego lit them up, New England in the Jets win lit them up, not sure if its the safety play or there linebackers who are absolutely horrendous in covering the TE, this problem needs to be addressed asap. Come back soon David Harris, please, but do not rush so you can get re-injured, just get back as soon as your healthy.
RUN THE DAMN BALL SCHOTT, STOP WITH THE SHOTGUN FORMATION 2 PLAYS INTO THE GAME AGAINST TERRIBLE RUN DEFENSES, in case he didnt notice Jones averaged 8.6 yards per carry, yes 2 long runs, but hey give him the ball more and he could have had 3.

The Hochuli call gave the Broncos the win and screwed the Chargers, so I don’t know why the NFL would feel the need to make anything up to the Broncos.
first off, denver stole 7 points
secondly, the drops killed the jets
and for the 1st time in a while the jets didnt play well
you dont win every game and denver is good
san fran and seattle gets the jets to 10 wins. if they split the other 2, its a 11 wins and most likely a 1st round bye. thats a solid season in my book
also please dont write in full caps,

After Pittsburgh’s win yesterday, we’re most likely not getting a bye with 11 wins. We need to win out to have a chance to pass the Steelers. Secondly, if we want to sew up the division, we need to win both of the remaining division games. At 11-5 and 5-1 in the division, we can’t be caught. At 11-5 but 4-2 in the division, New England and Miami could both end up tied with us. Therefore, if we’re going to lose another game, it’s preferable that it’s one of the west coast games against NFC teams. Though I’d prefer it came against Seattle since a loss this Sunday might really shake the team’s confidence.
With all of that said, considering how good this team had been in the four weeks before yesterday, I don’t think it’s unrealistic to believe they can still win out.

Sometimes it’s a good thing for a team to lose to a team with a worse record. It puts things in perspective and shows the Jets that they still have work to do.
If Mangini was a defensive coach in the past, it wasn’t apparent yesterday. We sat back all day and watched Cutler pick us apart. It showed a lack of confidence in the defense. This has been our biggest problem, all year. How many times must the coaching staff watch films of QB’s picking us apart — before they put on a pass rush. It didn’t help, that Abram Elam had his worst day as a Jet. Decisionmaking is everything and he just didn’t use his head.
Cotchery had his worst day of the year. He should have held that ball, in the first quarter, as well as a number of important passes.
We have the players. If the coaching ever catches up, we might have a shot for the playoffs.
Coaching won us some games too. The players were not on the field yesterday. The team has done little to convince me that we have amazing talent. We have good O and D lines which are essential, and Leon and Darelle can play ball, but we aren’t all that talented. The majority of the players on this team went 4 – 12 last year. Keller is our only big recieving threat. I think the coaches expected more intensity. We didn’t bring it. We came out flat. We would win a rematch.
Sutton should never put Elam in coverage, but the team lost this game not the coaches, not the players the whole team did it together.
first off there is no doubt that shannahan instructed his players to not be afraid to get “hurt” in order to slow down the pace / if we went no huddle.
the rules need to be looked at for that….. its no coincidence that most if not all the plays a denver player went down we were looking to get to the line and snap it quick.
secondly…i was there…the weather was pretty bad…it was cold in the rain. i was under the overhang =) and the crowd was into it until the game got out of hand in the third. some people left at halftime no doubt….mostly from the seats that were in the rain!!! but those who stayed were still into it until our 3rd and 4th down play fakes…
hey schott…the wheel is round….stop trying to re-invent it….
Why didn’t Coles play? Brett sure didn’t see him. Elam hero to goat in a week. He is a typical old Jet, no wonder he was signed. Jets finnish 3-1 make playoffs then will tease with first round win.
Does anyone else realize that Abram Elam might be the worst starting Safety in the NFL? He blows 3-4 big plays/tackles a game on a consistant basis. Am I the only one who saw his enormous flail Eddie Royal in the first quarter? Elam has been whiffing on pass coverage left and right since day one (certainly I’m not the only one who remembers the intereception he jarred out of Revis’ outstretched arms last season). If you look around for the weak link in the secondary, it becomes clear that Elam is the play that opposing defenses are exploiting (Revis is playing incredibly as a shutdown corner, Law, Lowery and Poteat are all servicable at their respective positions (discussions of Lowery’s demise at his position have been fairly exaggerated), Rhodes has been solid if not spectacular, and even Barton, Pace and Thomas, the latter two of whom are primarily pass rushers, have been decent in pass coverage). Elam is the problem. We need a solution (waiver wire, backup, practice squad, out of work free agent, draft next year) at this Safety spot as soon as humanly possible.
Fonz (or FONZ), Rhodes said “We.” That includes himself. He knows, too, that “We” is synonymous with “Team.” And he was perfectly accurate; this was a team loss if ever there was one. The problems were across the board — perhaps with special dis-credit to Sutton’s pass defense schemes, both his flacid pass rush, as well as the downfield coverage, and his inability to make in-game adjustments.

You said we’d most likely get a bye at 11-5. You really think it’s “most likely” that the Steelers are going to go 1-3 to finish the season?
what the hell is shottenheimer thinking?3rd and 1 and we go 2 straight play action plays? that guy really is an idiot…. we are good enough to beat any team in the nfl if (and thats a big IF) our coaches are not retarted …i thought after the last 2 weeks that he was getting there aparently not…. that punt in the 4th quarter when we were down by 17? we loose when we put the game in favres hands and get away from running the ball….bottom line this loss is no big deal…we played poorly against a team that is a bad matchup for us…and we still had many chances to get back in (unfortunatley the play clling was pathetic)… i think wer still alright lets try not to be classic jet fans right now and go insane and then when they beat the 9ers start talking about the super bowl.
Hey md,
“We” is a word that coach and the coaching staff should use only. Rhodes is part of the team and part of the team’s performance. I dont like his attitude that he has now. He more angry for how much he talked before the game and Cutler beat him one on one throughout the whole game. you cant tell me that he underperformed against the Broncos. He uses “we” because he feels he has some authority because of the respect he has build the last few years. I didnt know he could not back up his words with his play. I thought he was going to have a big game I really did but he is the safety valve back there (pun intended) and should help even if it means leaving the backfield open and the defensive backs in man coverage. I said before “small packages would have made the game closer” things like more of Rhodes on the line since the defensive line wasn’t neutralizing their offensive line and dominating and we were gashed all over the place on the ground would have helped. Elam is showing that he can hold his own. He racked up the most tackles yesterday for the team. Give him some more time, he is learning.
What i dont like is that Rhodes is not pointing at himself for part of the defense not stopping the bleeding against the pass. He is the brains back there (in the secondary) and should of matched the Broncos play a lot better.
I love how everytime we tried to get the hurry up offense, some Denver loser fakes an injury. There should be a rule against this or something that penalizes them. A time outs should have been taken away as they basically slowed down our offense without making a defensive play. Amazing how rules and regulations can be bent.
This was one of those wacky NFL games where once that first ridiculous fumble call was made, the game was decided. Funny how a game can be decided by officials trying to make up for, or misinterpretation of rules. If Cotchery was not ruled down, then when can you rule someone down?
This team will never win as long as Shottenheimer is the OC.
Period.
Whatever happened to the rule that the ground can’t cause a fumble? Cotchery was on top of the ball, on the ground and the ball was jarred loose when a Bronco player pounced on him. Just a wacky play.
Two other observations. First, while the Jets running game was productive, it was not productive on 1st down. So, how about play action? Favre didn’t have to throw a bomb, but an 8 yard pass to either Keller or Baker was open all day. Second, Favre desperately needs a bona fide deep threat. There’s no way Dre Bly should’ve gotten deeper than Coles and against the Titans, Coles stopped on a fly pattern when if he had gone all out, he would’ve caught a bomb. I would really like to see what Clowney can do, or maybe Leon can run a fly pattern.
I spoke with a friend of mine who is a big Oakland fan from way back, his first question was did any of our D linemen have any knee injuries because Denver has a really dirty OL. When I mentioned the excessive injuries, he said that the Broncos do that alot to slow the momentum of the no-huddle. My question is can we make a protest to the biggest Patriot fan I know, Roger Goodell, about this?
There’s only 1 solution for the pass D. And its name is Drew Coleman. He might be undersized, but he might just be the only jets DB with any speed.
P.S. DOWN WITH SAN FRANCISCO!!!!!!!!
after 15 years of growing up a jets fan i finally understand the term same old jets.
I happen to disagree with Nep Oznat this team will never win if Sutton is the D corrdinator they don’t understand the concept of a blitz.
guys….calm down..this was a bad day….thats all
we’re back to winning starting this sunday…as namath said…I GUARANTEE IT
Anyone know who wears # 56 on the jets heard in 3 years he’ll be bagging groceries
SD99-
The referee’s call was that Cotchery never had control after the bad exchange, that he was still attempting to secure possession on the ground, and therefore it was a live ball that anyone could pick up and run with. It was also an atrociously bad call. Cotchery had total control on the ground before the Denver player hit him and jarred it loose. The whistle should have been blown. Horrendously poor officiating that dramatically affected the flow of the game.
I also agree about the lack of a deep threat. This is the NFL. You have to have a receiver that can run under a forty yard pass in one on one coverage. It looked suspiciously like Coles quit on the route but he doesn’t have the speed he once did, anyway. I see people saying just don’t let Favre throw deep but then we’re right back to defenses only having to cover a much shorter field. Why not give Clowney a shot out there, if only to keep defenses honest?
i have utter and complete confidence in our team but its sad to say i have no confidence in our coaching staff i think both coordinators are below average and that is what really kills us
All Things NY,
I agree about the injuries. They should definitely make it a rule that if an injury time out is used to get a player of the field, that player needs to sit out for a minimum of 10 plays before returning to the game.
I guarantee that will discourage teams like the Bronocs from getting “injured” everytime another team gets a first down.
NAJY- ARE YOU INSANE
This is not a contact sport its a collision sport your talking about a players safety listen in shannahan did that then he has to have that on his conscious. I dont think they would play around like that. Even though it looked that way
I’m going to go against the grain here and defend Shotty a bit. First, make no mistake, this was a very difficult loss and we were outcoached on both sides of the ball. That being said, let’s remember a) we previously just set franchise record for most points scored in 3 consecutive games. He deserves some credit b) we all slammed him for the failed runs on the goaline in the first NE game, yet are now slamming him for failing to run on 3rd and 4th for a yard. Understandably, a goaline situation is different, but you get the point. c) though we ran the ball well, we consistently did not do so when faced with an obvious short-yardage running situation. In fact, though our line has been gelling and doing a tremendous job over past 5 weeks, I still do lack confidence when we have to simply line up and gain a needed yard. In fact, I would venture to guess that if we had simply lined up on that 3rd and 4th there would have been a good chance we get stuffed.
Again, I’m no super-fan of Shotty’s, but weren’t people reporting just a week ago that we would surely lose him next season to a head coaching gig? Let’s not get crazy. If anything, I’m more concerned about Sutton’s side of the ball….
You cannot blame Shotty for this game. Things just started happening and escaladed to a point where the play calling didn’t mean anything. You cannot drop passes and not execute. We lost!! Get over it.. Sunday we’ll win again.
This post is a classic example of the lack of respect and character that supposed tough guys from New York have. One of you mentioned that you wanted Cutler paralyzed in the playoffs. It is true that not all New Yorkers are bad but your culture as a hole is below scum. You fake tough like the Broncos fake injuries. The Jets are still the better team for now but at least Denver has a stadium. Good luck the rest of the year New Jersey.
BigKatFan -
I really, really, really, REALLY hope that was sarcasm. Drew Coleman? What has he ever done to suggest that he’s anything close to a competent NFL quarterback, much less “the answer to our problems” in the secondary? He’s beyond awful. He’s mega-awful.
I honestly can’t believe I just read that.
Not to mention the hysteria before about Abram Elam being the worst starting safety in the league. The influx of “fans” on this site since the Pats win is starting to rear its ugly head.
* cornerback, not quarterback.
ganggreen4ever – Really? Jet fan for 15 years, huh?
junior – They absolutely did “play around like that.” Those injuries were faked.
I blame the loss on the JETS coaching staff. Poor play calling especially on offense and no pass rush on defense. And if the team wasn’t up for the game, where were you Mangini? I state again, this team is much better than the coaching staff. And if Woody wants to sell PSLs, he will need to make a change.
Joe B,
Yeah, you’re right. My bad. Either way, the Jets got screwed.
Sack,
As we discussed earlier this year, Coles cannot and does not beat anyone deep one-on-one. It only ever happens when there is a coverage breakdown on a playaction fake. That was clearly intended to be a jumpball, but was just overthrown slightly or maybe Coles slipped or took a bad route. In other words, yes, they need a deep threat, but will probably have to do without until next season.
I couldn’t tell you who had a worse game… Cotchery or the Refs. Schott and Sutton need to go. What happened in the second half when we started bringing the blitz more and started using Leon? As for our 1st down runs… Jones starts off the game with a 4yrd run and then it’s off to the shotgun formation. 3rd and short??? Shotgun formation.
The 3 man rush against anybody doesn’t work; see: Oakland, KC,NE,SD,DEN. ANYONE!!!! Who mentions the blitz in terms of risk has to account for the personel. To prove my point… Name one player or one play where either Thomas or Pace (Both over 260lb) had solid coverage on any TE. It’s not that we are bad covering TE and RB… We asking our outside LB’s who are OBVIOUS pass rushers/run support to cover these people. Do you remember Bryan Cox really trying to cover anyone? Nope!
The Jet’s have lost 3 of 4 to the afc west!! Are you kidding me…….The Denver and Oakland loss wil cost them……………………
If the Jets sweep the next 4 games, against two weak teams on the road and two teams they’ve already beaten once at home, the AFC East crown is with the Jets. Thus, the Oakland and Denver losses are meaningless. The only games that count are the next four. Period.
Bent, point taken that Coles isn’t a bona fide deep threat, but what happened to an all out sprint for the ball? Did he forget how to run a fly pattern? Every elite NFL WR runs the fly pattern now and then. If Coles did, it would only help his shorter routes. Favre puts deep balls up for grabs, so a WR has a chance to make a play. Since Coles and Jericho are fighters, I thought the deep ball would work because I expected Coles or Cotchery to out-fight the DBs. Instead, it seems like the DB only wins the fight or our guys can’t get deep. I’m still holding out hope for Clowney, or let Leon run the fly pattern…he’s short, but I know he’s a fighter.
Hey Jet Fan’s,
I did a little research and here is why the Loss sunday is a bad one,you may find this interesting:
1) Jet’s secondary now ranked 30th
2) Pitt,Tenn and Denver can clinch playoff berth’s this week end…….Jet’s can not.
3) Wild Card will probly be Indy & Baltimore……Jet’s will pretty much have to Win there division to get in…..
4) Possible # 2 seed fading fast,if they win division would be a 3 or 4 seed.If tied with Denver, Jet’s would be 4 seed cause of head to head.
Schedule’s=
Pittsburgh= Dallas,Balt,Tennessee,Cleve.
Denver= KC,Carolina,Buffalo,SD
Pat’s= Seattle,oak,Ariz,Buffalo
Miami= Buff,SF,KC,Jet’s
Division,=Jet’s 3-1,Pat’s3-2,Miami 2-2
Coference=Jet’s 6-4,Pat’s 5-5,Miami 5-4
2 west coast trip’s and 2 divisional game’s left for the Jet’s………………….Kinda get the feeling this is all going to come down to the last game against the Dolphin’s and Chad!
Oh and by the way,NO Rain in the forcast in San Fran. so if they lose they can’t use that for a excuse!!!!
This loss was just the Jets’s and Brett’s luck catching up with them. Brett can only pass the ball 7 yards between the hash marks. He can’t throw deep. He is awful. He is doing a poor Pennington impression.
The Pats didn’t show up to play in the first half against the Jets and the Jets got that phantom call at the end of regulation to give them a new set of downs inside the 5 yard line that allowed them to score a TD.
Tenessee’s receivers forgot how to catch last week.
The Jets finally got the best that a decent team had to offer and they lost.
What will the have to show for the Brett trade next year? Nothing. Maybe a playoff win. No second round pick and no QB. At least play Clemens and see if he has a future. Last year was not a proper evaluation of him given the atrocious O-line.
