The Jets need to stop the Niners running game, everything of this offense keys off of that, so to do that will make the difference and set up the game to the Jets favor. Meanwhile, with CB Nate Clements not dressing for the Niners, the Jets should attack the ball at the perimeter of the field or attack the Niners front and be prepared to grind out yards with their super coached up linebackers.
Special teams could be trouble for the Jets today. They have to play their best football of the season here to neutralize this component of San Francisco’s game.

I thought it was telling on the first series when they had 4th and 2 on the SF 37 and did not go for it. If they were playing to win, thet would have gone for it. They came into to SF playing not to lose and it showed throughout that first quarter.

Our coaching is the worst in the NFL aside from Detroit. Our chances of going 8-8 are equal to the chances of us going 12-4 LOL. This has been a joke to watch for the last 6 quarters. We need a change next year. We need a boost from somewhere. We have the talent , but no play calling ability. Our Blitz’s suck, Our trick plays suck. 3 running plays ina row sucks. Having no guts to go for it on the road on 4th and short sucks.

You what funny? The pass defense was probably as bad against the Titans and Pats but no one cared because they won. If the Titans receivers weren’t terrible and dropped about 6 balls in the first half that game would have been a lot closer and what Cassell did to this defense in the second half does not need to be spoken. They need a real pass rusher on that line and soon.

Bob Sutton is terrible. He needs to go. The pass defense is inexcusably poor. This game has been incredibly frustrating. Poor all around. Just another tease of a season from the Jets. Maybe they go on and win the division anyway but we all know this will end in a disappointing loss at some point.
If the Patroits lose again it will mean nothing and once again Miami will advance a game to take the tie for the division lead. PATHETIC.

That was an illegal helmet to helmet hit by Willis on Brad Smith. The holding call on Washington’s kickoff return touchdown was weak. I would love to say the referees have been making some very borderline calls on the Jets and disregarding penalties on the 49ers that should have been called but the Jets have been outcoached and outplayed the entire game. It is ok to be outplayed sometimes but outcoached like this is not. I keep giving Mangini a pass and I will not any longer. He needs to answer for all of this including crappy Bob Sutton and the underachieving defense.

Four plays into the game, the tone of the game was set. When they didn’t go for it on 4th and 2 qgainst the 49ers on SF’s 37, they stated they were playing not to lose rather than to win. Non-aggressive. If they had gone for it and not made it, so what. At least they would’ve been aggressive. They were passive all day.

This is as bad a loss as you can get. The Jets have the two worst game day cords. in the game. They take games off its seems. Sutton will never get a job in the NFL again and Schott prob wont either. He is too up and down. The coaches cant get open or rush the passer but come on. The coaches are always on the other end of the whipping stick in terms of schemeing. It is a joke. If the “game plan specific” crap doesnt work in the first quarter then they are screwed. I thought this team could do special things but they lack the killer instinct to be champions. I have absolutely had it with our secondary. We made an old tired wide receiver look like a 22 year old today. Not to mention a CFL/Europe league QB look like John Elway. Where is the D-Line pressure?? Blitz packages??

I like Tannenbaum. I think he does have an eye for talent and tends to draft well. Mangini is really getting to the end of his rope and he will have to either dump his coordinators or face the music. I got fooled once again by the Jets, I will keep coming back for more. Hopefully in my lifetime there will be one season where they will not fool us and will find a way to win. Most likely won’t be this year.
Our play calling sucks, our WR’s don’t know how to play a deep ball so why have a guy like Farve, this short passing game to control the ball does not work with our guys- another game Schotty has blown GET RID OF HIM HE SUCKS…

Sutton must go. He doesn’t understand that pressure forces the opposing QB’s into mistakes and early throws. When we rushed three or four, another mediocre QB picked us apart.
Schottenheimer has lost all concept of an Offensive attack. He cannot call plays, period.
Players have to make plays but, if the coaches don’t put them in the position to take advantage of the opposition, there is nothing that anybody can do.
This being said, how about that garbage call on Leon’s kick return. The fix was in.

JETS Game plan every week is short passes first then run, you cant spread the field that way, whan you have a guy that can throw a tight rope forty yards and has done that for fifteen years, you dont ask him to throw dump passes off the line- this is the difference between a playoff team.
Ten rushes for the top rusher in the AFC against the worst D against the run in the NFL. Can’t win if you’re game plan doesn’t accentuate your positives and the other team’s negatives. Rushing 3 doesn’t scare a rookie QB. The team has talent; it’s confused by the approach of its coaching staff. Hell, I’m confused.

How many times did the 49ers have 1st and 20, 2nd and 20 and still get 1st downs? Why is Coles on the field if he can’t get open? Could the Jets be anymore tentative and playing not to win. Great, you had no turnovers. 1/10 on third down? Jets led league in drives greater than 10 yards and then they have one 9 play drive and the next longest drive is 5 plays? Has Favre completed a long downfield pass since the Miami game. To a WR that is. I don’t think so. I haven’t seen a basic sideline route in 2 weeks. Bizarre.
Bottom line the Jets coaching staff is so wrapped up in trying to fool the other teams by doing something other than what they expect and changing the focus every week for each opponent. Fine strategy if you have the personnel and fool the other team. Not many teams can pull this off. The Jets and their coaches can not pull this off. Schottenheimer doesn’t get it. If a team can’t stop the run you run run and run some more. The Chiefs Broncos and 49ers games are prime examples of this foolish strategy. You can’t win against the 49ers if you don’t maintain possession. The defense will get tired and compound the situation. Then you have the fabulous Bob Sutton. He decides to drop in coverage over and over. Here are the 49ers and Mike Martz as their offensive coordinator. This team likes to call long drops and time consuming pass patterns. Maybe I have no clue but it seems to me the best way to attack that kind of team is to blitz the hell out of them. Sure you might give up a big play or two but you will probably force some turnovers and probably would have seen a better margin in time of possession. The coordinators stink and they need to go. Schottenheimer is a waste of time and has wasted too many opportunities. Sutton has no guts and is apparently too thick to realize that the Jets (like almost every team in the NFL) do not have the players to consistently apply QB pressure with 3-4 rushers and need to blitz. This all comes back to Mangini. He is the head coach and must be accountable. He better wake up and either change the coordinators or make it clear to them they need to change. If the current crappy play continues and the Jets either miss the playoffs or go out without a fight it will be Mangini looking for a job with his buddy Romeo Crennel while they hang out at a buffet.

I agree with you 100 % but the sad part is our organization will never fire a coach, coord before their contract is up because Woody is so cheap
Toon, First of all, if you can’t handle negative comments — you can post somewhere else. It’s called criticism. That’s why we come here.
The Keller drop was one play. We had no game plan. We had no adjustment, after halftime. We have no Offensive Coordination. When I see the Offense forget about our WR’s for an entire game, I know there is a problem. When our play-calling is horrible – I can see it. If Schott feels that we can’t throw to LC, why is he playing him. I haven’t seen a pass to LC in weeks. Our Offense has fallen off the table and Schottenheimer is at the controls. Most other bloggers seem to agree. Time for him to go.
