wats the record for consecutive weeks on the injury report but still playing. I think cotchery and coles can make a run at it.

  2. avatar nyckage says:

Does this mean Clowney is playing

  3. avatar klecko71 says:

look who is unhappy again…… no way he gets a new deal after the season.

Not everyone on the Jets is enamored of having future Hall of Famer Brett Favre as his quarterback, it seems. Laveranues Coles, in fact, sounded almost bitter at the impact Favre’s arrival in New York has had on him. Listen to snippets of his conference call with Bay Area reporters: “We’re in a quarterback-driven offense where he pretty much has control of everything, where before the offense was pretty much driven through me. … I just kind of become a role player instead of a guy that teams had to prepare for.” There’s more: “This is his offense. When we do throw the ball, there’s really no level of importance, where at one point it used to be where I was the guy … in position to get the ball most of the time.” It gets better: “I catch balls from the Jugs machine. The ball probably comes out harder from there than it does from anywhere else.” And, in signing off: “Of course he’s the big name, he’s the Hall of Famer, he’s going to get the majority of the credit but most of the guys who deserve the credit don’t really get it.”

Yeah Kleco71- Tim Graham has the same thing on his blog on ESPN.com:

And I was just on my way here to complain how Coles can’t shut his fricking mouth. We are having a good year it isn’t about you LC. I never saw people game plan against him. They trusted their #1 corner to do the job. Your name isn’t Terrell, Brandon, Steve, Randy or Wes, Laveranues! Shut your mouth and catch the ball and no we wont trade you to Miami!

  6. avatar ronnie says:

i really hate coles and i hope hes off the team next year. Its so disappointing.

  7. avatar nyckage says:

Yea, Coles needs to go, he just isn’t a team player anymore, we can always draft a WR this year, and we have Clowney who can play by the way, so if you ask me Coles is a liability, just don’t send him to Miami, actually don’t release him trade him to the Raiders on purpose so he will appreciate a guy like Favre, his Stock value is probably a 3rd Rd pick, so it’s something Tangini should consider

  8. avatar Mel31602 says:

Wow guys are you forgetting how tough a receiver Coles is? He’s been garnering double coverage the past few weeks to let Keller, Cotch, etc get open. If we put Clowney in at least for the first few weeks everyone will double team Cotch. And if Favre leaves after this year Coles could help Kellen/Ratliff more than a rookie could.

  9. avatar spent says:

Coles has done a lot for this team in the past, but he’s almost out of the league. Cut him some slack. If he can make a couple of catches a game, then that’s fine.. He’s listed as our #1 receiver, but he obviously isn’t. Cut the guy some slack — he’s a competitor who doesn’t want to get old. Who does?

  10. avatar JustAGreenGuy says:

It isn’t about that. Who when you lead the division insults your QB? Owens didn’t even do that and I will trade Coles for Owens in the blink of an eye. He does it to himself.

  11. Just as the media was forgetting about the Ellis situation Coles goes off and says this. Definitely not the kind of distraction a potential playoff team needs.

  12. With that said it will be good to have Harris back this week. Now Bowens and friends can go back to their original roles. Should make the Jets D all the better.

  13. avatar nyckage says:

    Spent
It’ isn’t about his ability, we know how good the guy is, but the guy talks to much, for some reason this year, OK, your QB is getting more attention than you are, you can’t tell me you didn’t expect that when the trade happened, now be a Pro and get over and try to get your first ring.OK maybe I was stupid by saying we should get rid of him but the guy isn’t produciing

  14. avatar Jim says:

Coles is being a selfish little kid. There is no “I” in team Coles you douche bag.

  15. avatar Jim says:

    If Coles can’t appreciate this………….

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEO2HbStl4Y

Then he needs to get his azz out of NYC.

  16. avatar Joe B. says:

Love Coles as a player, but off the field.. What a whiny bastard. You’re on an 8-4 team, you have 55 catches and you’re complaining. Jesus Laveranues, at least try to hide your selfishness.

  17. avatar Bent says:

Coles has a history of mouthing off, but still plays hard. You just live with it. Getting rid of him is not a feasible option because they have guaranteed his salary for next year and have no room cap-wise. Sounds to me like the media baited him into the comments by talking about his lack of production.

Anyway, back on topic, my 49ers source has given me some details of what to expect from today’s opponent:

    1. Don’t expect a bunch of sacks. Although the Niners are near the bottom of the league, they have changed to Shaun Hill, who makes quick throws from 3 and 5 step drops, whereas J T O’Sullivan made 7 step drops and held the ball too long.

    2. Don’t expect it to be Vernon Davis that kills us underneath. He basically stays in to block or runs a go route. Isaac Bruce is the underneath guy in this offense because he is a better route runner.

    3. Don’t expect it to be easy to run on them. The linebackers are good so this will stop the big plays. However, the line is weak, so they have been poor in short yardage situations when teams run.

    4. Hill is a better matchup for them than O’Sullivan because he works the short game better.

    5. Favre should get time to throw if he steps up into the pocket.

    6. The weak link on their OL is Adam Snyder, a guard playing RT because of Jonas Jennings’ injury. He can be beaten by speed or technique.

    7. Watch out for Delaine Walker – special teams monster and a short passing game threat.

    8. If Nate Clements plays, he’ll wear a cast, but their other DBs have been decent, albeit banged up.

    9. Their punter is one of the best in the league but has had some long runbacks.

    10. Their starting free safety has no interceptions in two seasons, so is overdue to snag one.

That’s all I can remember from my chat with the guy, but he knows his team. Interesting to note that some of these comments differ from how we had been perceiving things just by looking at the numbers. Since Singletary, this is a different team, that has simplified everything (gone back to 3-4 instead of hybrid and cut out much of the downfield passing). Perhaps more importantly, they’re playing hard for him.

Mind you, the Rams had supposedly rallied under Haslett before the Jets blew them out, so hopefully the more talented team will prevail.

Let’s hope it’s not the Jets who are caught with their pants down.

I don’t see Nugent listed anywhere on the injury list…what does that mean? Which healthy kicker gets to play today?

  19. avatar Bent says:

Nuge has been healthy for a while now. You don’t need to be injured to be inactive. I doubt they will change it while Feely has been kicking well. Nuge is the better kicker, but I’d take an in-form Feely over a rusty Nuge every time.
