News: Jets Waive Marcus Mason

by Bassett on December 10th, 2008 at 9:14 am

The Jets have announced that they waived RB Marcus Mason. Mason never saw time on the field, and was a pickup I gushed over when they made it after Jesse Chatman’s season ended.

Although no one has been announced as a replacement yet, they likely will be soon. The Jets do need defensive help in the secondary … it’s been abysmal back there and Kerry Rhodes admitted yesterday on WFAN that guys are missing their assignments. Still, I don’t like this roster move very much … there wasn’t someone else who the team could shelve?

Mason had a tremendous preseason, and could be a real cheap find for the Jets long-term with a solid offensive line in front of him. I would be very surprised to see that Mason makes it through waivers.

why be surprised? The Jets are now desperate to turn things around. Otherwise, bye, bye, Mangini and his asst coaches.

i guess it all depends on who they actually sign that will temper my frustration with this move.
