The Jets will be travelling west this week to face Mike Holmgren in his last home game as a head coach (for now at least). Holmgren is planning a chance to say thank you after the game, via a lap of the stadium.
“What I’d like to do, if it’s OK with everyone, is when the game’s over, for the folks that want to just stick around just a little bit longer. They might leave if they have dinner reservations, you know, but I was just going to take one little walk around the field and thank the people. It doesn’t sound very exotic, but that’s what I’d like to do.”
Even though this 3-11 season has disappointing for the Head Coach and the Seahawks fans, this is their last chance to play spoilers at home this season, so the Jets should expect a loud crowd and a group of amped up Seahawks players.

What I don’t understand with this team is, we have the most talent in the division, hands-down. We’ve seen what that talent can do (Titans) yet, they are severally and repeatably coached down to a mediocre level. It’s hard for me to fault the players, b/c they are not the ones who pick the game plans or the plays. And those coaching moves are not putting them in a position to make plays.
What I really don’t understand is that this sounds like a broken record. Why is it being repeated every week?

The Seahawk game will be extremely difficult to win – not just because of Holmgren’s swan song lap. Seneca Wallace will likely start at QB for Seattle, and the guy is elusive as hell. Think of what Cassell did to us last time v. New England – that’s what the Seahawks are likely to do. Better plant that guy and plant him often.

The next 2 games are going to be extremely difficult for the Jets. I will be very impressed and a little suprised if they win both games. I believe that they can beat the Dolphins, but for some reason, I just don’t see them getting past Seattle this week.

Zen, if you bet the odds, we shouldn’t win this weekend. 0-3 on the west coast already, 2 of those losses to teams under .500. But this is a game we should/NEED to win. I hope Schott gameplans for more than just the 1rst quarter this time.

I can’t believe people are worried about Seneca Wallace. He’s a crappy QB who can run the ball. I think that having David Harris back will greatly help our spying capabilities, but let’s also not forget that Wallace is no Mick Vick circa 2003. Or Matt cassell for that matter (cassell is way better).
And everyone’s talking about how the Hawks have this nothing to lose, let’s mess up someone’s season mentality…they also have a nothing to play for, coach who’s leaving, injured line up mentality as well.
There are arguments either way, but I don’t think that “spoiler motivation” trumps “heartbreaking season ending upset” avoidance that the Jets will be going for.

and if Ihedigbo has another special teams penalty, I’m sending him a stocking full of poo for christmas.
-
I kind feel bad for Ihedigbo, those penalties are suspect to say the least…but I have seen him take horrible angles on special teams tackles and thats bad.
I guess I feel for him b/c I randomly met his brother at the Pats/Jets game in foxboro last month. (it was his brother, he talked the talk and I doubt many people actually wear signed Ihedigbo jersey’s)

No one playing out the string on an 11 loss team wants to get hurt. I think you have to come out very physical, with some very hard hits right away, to make them revert to Pro Bowl rules. That should trump any emotion over Holmgren’s last home game.
-
yea, good point subway. I’m excited that our designated hitter is back on the field, as I thought he looked pretty good last week.

Evan,
The problem is lack of execution. The coaches can only do so much for the players but they have to go out and do it. We have players who can talk the talk but can’t talk and walk. Those players need to step up their game because I know that with the tremendous character that is instilled in this team that one player will take over the leadership role. I know its not going to be FARVE though because even he was happy at the end of the bills game that he didn’t have to go out there and win it for the team. He thanked ellis and elam a whole lot for their contribution in saving their season.

Additionally, they are already banged up — their last two starting offensive linemen got hurt in the last two weeks. They are all backups now (and already were having a tough time protecting their QBs). If we can;t get a pass rush this week, who cares anymore.
-
we should destroy wallace all game long. they are on their 3rd string LT and the rest of the team is severely banged up. i would actually like to activate gholston – maybe riding the pine has woke his @ss up and it will come out with a purpose. there wont be a better chance to get his first sack than this week.

Bassett,
Could you give us a playoff breakdown and tiebreaker’s?
If the Raven’s lose to Dallas sat. how doe’s this effect the wild card?? -

Subwayfare,
Thank’s!!! So I guess after reading all this,The Jet’s have to win out in order to make the playoff’s??
CONFUSING!!!! -
Yeah, all the tie-breaker scenarios are pretty mind boggling. I’d treat Seattle like a playoff game and forget about everything else.
-
You got that right!!!! This is a scary, scary game!!!! Well one good thing I guess,Miami will finally have to play in a weather game on the road this week end.Forcast in KC for sunday is a high of 19 with wind!!!!

Dave, everybody said Tyler Thigpen sucked before we played the Chiefs. All he did was look better than Brett Favre that day. Same thing for Jamarcus Russell.
If you ever SAW Wallace play, you’d know better than to write him off.

that guy kind of looks like you bassett
