The other teams in the AFC East aren’t providing much help to the Jets, they just won’t quit winning! For the Jets, this game is another must-win to remain in the driver’s seat in their quest to get to the playoffs.

Keys to the Game:

  1. Bad Conditions - See how the bad weather plays into the game. Will the bad conditions and gusty winds play a factor in the teams abilities to execute their gameplan?
  2. Force the Fumbles - Seneca Wallace has been good at not throwing interceptions, but is susceptible to fumbling. The Jets have been great at forcing fumbles all year, see if they can’t get to Seneca this afternoon.
  3. Run Roughshod – Ellis gave them the boost they needed at the end of last week, and there’s no reason that the Jets defense can’t play well today. This is a chance, like the Rams game earlier this season, to get well and have confidence going into their home finale against Miami.

When the Jets Run the Ball — The Seahawks run defense is one of their best assets. DT Brandon Mebane anchors a great front is a beast that the Jets will have to pay special attention to during the game. The Seahawks strength is in their line, and like many of the Jets recent opponents, once into the back seven, they could make some great gains. Look to see if the Jets try to use some of their standard extra blockers (Tight Ends, T-Rich, Wayne Hunter) to make some extra holes in the run game.

When the Jets Pass the Ball — For context, starting safety Brian Russell is a running joke at KSK. The Seahawks pass defense has been one of their biggest weaknesses this year and against the Jets as long as Good Brett plays, this offense shouldn’t have too much trouble with the unit. Coles & Cotch could have big days against this porous defense, as well as Tight Ends.

When the Seahawks Run the Ball — The Seahawks are great at getting short yardage downs and good at getting long gainers … it’s everything else in between that gives them fits. The Jets need to play solidly at the line of scrimmage and play good gap control in the running game. They also need to prove to the world that yes, they can make tackles.

When the Seahawks Pass the Ball — Hasselback’s replacement, Seneca Wallace has had some good games, but he’s also had some real clunkers. Rookie TE John Carlson is the team’s leading receiver (51 REC, 601 YDS, 4TDs) and the Jets have struggled a lot against Tight Ends.
