This is the worst coaching staff in football. At least Herm gave good interviews and gave us reasons to be angry by throwing players and coaches under the bus. Eric talks a good game and then evidences he does not understand game planning, play calling, or motivation.
At the start of this game, our OL was dominating the hawks. Even Tony R was eating up large yardage. So what does Shottini do, he starts passing the ball to prevent the Hawks from finding a way to stop our running attack. Brilliant. Rest our running backs instead of making them carry it for four to five yards almost every play. Let Favre throw in the snow before the Hawks figure out a way to stop our ramming the ball down their throats. And, by stopping drives with pass plays that don’t work, he rests the offense.
And, he continues to play losers like DeVito and Pouha. They come in and what do the Hawks do, run it to their side. For big yardage.
You can blame execution. I won’t. The coaching staff prevented us from dominating in this game by once again outthinking the opponent instead of relying on our superior talent and once again playing scrubs to allow the rested regulars try to play from behind.
The good news is, no one will be able to pretend Mangini and Shottenheimer are anything but sorry jokes. Only they could preserve the legacy of Winner, Walton, Coslet, and Kotite. 7 pro bowlers. No other team in our division has three. We cut the QB of the team most likely to win the division. Cut him. I guess we needed more talent.
The only good news is the next coach is likely to have the benefit of eventually getting to coach our first two ’09 picks. Even though Woody and Mike will still with Eric so he can ruin another season or two, Tannenbaum has shown that he is likely to get a good player or two for Eric and company to misuse until we hire a real coaching staff.
I am just sorry that my Dad took us to watch this sorry team all those years ago. Somehow we ended up with Hess who refused to get serious until too late and Woody who doesn’t know how to manage a hospital, much less a football team.
Maybe they will come back. Who cares. Eric and company will never take us to where real fans want to go.

As a fan since 1981, this may be the most frustrating Jets team I have ever watched, and that is really saying something.
The talent is undeniable yet they are completely inconsistent after tearing off 5 wins in a row in mid-season.
I’m starting to really think these coaches are sub-par and Penny was a major scapegoat.

I don’t wanna say I told you so but on Monday I was on here saying the Jets didn’t stand a chance.
Now, many of us as longtime fans knew it. I wasn’t some sort of prophet but I just want to speak to those who claimed someone like myself was not a ‘real’ fan.
Well to those- I say that players and coaches like this do not deserve any type of fan.
For all the money, frustrations, time, etc that we invest- what a disappointment for a team to show up like this.
What a disappointment that these players and Mangini’s staff can actually collect their checks.
What a joke!!!
Today, for one of the first times in my life, I am depressed to say- I am embarassed to be a Jets fan.
And the sad thing is- we knew this would happen. Because they’ve let us down so many times before.
Congrats to the Dolphins, Patriots, Titans, Giants, Steelers, etc. as they are class act organizations. They take pride in what they do. And no matter how much I hate them, today I can give respect and say, I envy you. I envy the commitment they have and the way they can perform.
Jets are a joke.
And I said it after the Patriots game 1. And I said it after the Titans game. No matter when it’s been- from the embarassment at Jacksonville in his first year, to the false playoffs in Year 1, to the 4-12 disaster and now to the biggest collapse in franchise history.
Mangini and his ENTIRE staff must go. Mr. T- pack your bags also.
We need an overhaul and change this mentality.
$60,000 for PSL’s?! For what? What a joke- Jets, you make me sad…

The Jets woes basically boil down to two (huge) problems.
1. An Inability to rush the passer, stemmed from a breakdown of Jenkins and Pace, and the wholsale bust of Gholston
2. An inability to remain consistent to the run, stemming from a head coach who thinks he’s smarter than he really is.
All the rest is window dressing.

Other than Jay Feely and Thomas Jones, there is not a single player or unit on this team that is playing well. How this all happened is beyond me. I’m on the dump Mangini bandwagon now. I’ve had it, dump the entire staff and bring in Cowher.
God obviously hates me for being a Jets and Mets fan. How many chokes can a fan take?

Not to finish first with the softest schedule, and being outplayed by lousy teams is a reflection of the coaching and some of these players. In every game, they showed they wanted it MORE.

Anyway, I was in Buffalo week 4 of 2007. I and my family were treated by Bills fans like something their dog puked up. But I thought the jets winning would make it all worth it. Obviously not.
The disappointment I felt that day was crushing, but I never felt it again. Until this afternoon. Thank you, Jets organization, for making my life even more difficult. With your crappy playcalling,your making stars out of no-names and your losing when it matters most. I’m watching the post game and these reporters are too soft on Mangini. These same sports writers went after Isaiah Thomas (deservedly so) but they are too soft on this guy. Mangini is always PROUD of these guys.,
COME ON! It does’nt take a genius to know the players take on the personality of their coach. Mangini is too soft. That’s why we need Cowher. This teams needs to be pissed off on Sunday’s versus what they’ve showed.

The Jets went from competing for a first round bye to strong leaders in afc east to barely controlling it to NEEDING a win to now.
