Film Room: Snowboulder Fight!!!

During the game, fans seemed more interested in making snowmen than watching the game.  Afterwards, they thought it would be fun to pelt the team with snowballs.  The Jets just lost to a pathetic three win team, so look which dope fiend JETS TEAM CAPTAIN is throwing snow boulders into the crowd

Why, Shaun Ellis of course!!!

This is the classy, dignified, disciplined team that Mangini has built in three years in New York. Good work, coach!!!

Hat tip to John Shabe for finding this.

  1. The fans are throwing snowballs, he should have smashed it on their heads!

  2. Wow. Awesome judgement, no matter what the fans were doing. No wonder we are so awesome right now.

  3. Oh yes, this is why this team is choking. Because one of the captains was caught with weed and tossed a pile of snow on a fan. Thanks for the insight.

  4. I think Ellis was just demonstrating what the Seahawks second and third string offensive line had just done to him and his teammates all afternoon

  5. Row – Can you tell Ellis is frustrated? Can you tell he’s taking it out on fans … stupid as they may be, but fans nevertheless?

He and his teammates should have thanked Seattle fans for getting snowballs thrown at them, in NJ it would have been batteries and ice shards.

He could have taken the high road, but he went out of his way to be a jackass. Take it out on the other team, not on the fans.

  6. Yea, him smoking weed had alot to do with a snowball. And calling him a dope fiend is just not true

  7. Thanks for the video. From watching the game I didn’t know Shaun Ellis had made the trip to Seattle. Good to see Ellis did make the trip and even got in a little exercise.

  8. But I didn’t call him a dope fiend … I crossed that out and put in his role …Jets Team Captain.

Whether he’s habitual or not is irrelevant, do you not see a chain of bad decisions that one of the “leaders” of this team is making? Shouldn’t he be on better behavior? Didn’t he just apologize to the fans for his actions? How does this jive with a contrite player?

  9. I just don’t see it as a big deal (from either side – fan was on his way to a warm car, players were in pads). In fact, it’s sort of amusing. If he did it out of frustration from the game than, yeah, that’s weak, but is it really a testament to Mangini’s coaching?

I also don’t think anyone should be thankful for getting snow thrown at them just because some Jets fans are classless enough to throw batteries and ice.

  10. Shaun Ellis has been sued for tortious infliction of pneumonia

  11. You crossed it out. people can read it still. your implying something mr. bassett

  12. Who cares? Let him have some fun in the snow.

  13. Exactly, Bill. Exactly.

  14. You implied it by even writing it. It’s the wrong thing to do. I suggest you remove it.

  15. I dont see Mr Goodell being pleased with this incident am i crazy to think suspension?

  16. and i have a feeling you’ve probably been a dope fiend (smoked marijuana) yourself

  17. it’s only pot ! wow!!!!

  18. And not to harp on this any longer, but it’s sort of ironic that you’re preaching integrity and class while you call someone a dope fiend.

  19. Cut Basset a break too. Who cares? With all the issues this team has. Who cares?

  20. Bassett:

The true problem is NOT the coaching, but first hear me out:

As you probably know, I have been the loudest, if not the first, anti Farve Jets Fan on this blog since it was anounced by NFL Channel that Farve and the jets had reached an agreement. that infamous night on August 5th.
I have been continously insulted by several Farve worshipers (drunk with all the kool-aid given out tby the media) becaouse i have expressed my conviction that Farve was not compatible with Mangini’s, and in turn the teams, coaching and game philosophy. I expressed that the chemistry of the passing game and rhythm of the offense would not gel. I was criticized when I mentioned that he never learned the play book and was not disciplined enough beause ” you must have fun playing this game” and the offense was dyfunctional. That we trully lost a leader a true team player that lead by example (alwasy first in last player out, worked long hours with the offense, dedicated endless hours one on one with his back-ups etc, etc, etc,) and that these traits would be greatly missed by the whole team.

This said, i realize that farve was blown up larger than the sport itself and that one fan of the TJB even said “FAVRE IS THE TEAM AND THE TEAM IS FAVRE” This view was held by most fans and the media. He was revered, almost worshiped by most and especially by the owner and M. Tannenbaum. They knew the sales(market) value of this guy with investments of a new stadium, $140 M in new players, tons of P$L’s to sell and theiir neighbor having just won the SB….anyone can see this, can’t they?

This gigantic challange was place on the coaching staff’’s shoulders, specially Mangini’s, to make it work.

This challange (burden is more likely) was too great to overcome by a coach and offensive coordinator that are both brand new at their jobs and younger, with less game experience, less fame and fortune, and different core values than their stunent.

Mangini IS a great manager but needs to grow as a coach and he will. Schotty is on his his way to becomming a great OC. Next year with OUR real Brett we will be very proud of our team and both coaches.

  21. So your point is the coaching is great, and that Favre sucks?!

    Sit on it, Fonzi !

  22. This video was the first time I saw of Ellis in Seatlle yesterday. Didnt even know he was in uniform . Along with the rest of the D-line.

Who cares about the snowball. We still sucked

  23. I agree with BubbyBrister/shovelpass

    Sit on it, Fonzi!

Good manager? Lose to Oakland, San Francisco, Seattle, KC (almost), Buffalo (almost). Screw him. Dump Mangeneric.

  24. Fonz go home. Time to grow? We don’t get a coach and allow him time to grow. He is not a rookie, we didn’t draft him. He doesn’t have time to develop- he must see immediate and consistent results or he should be out of here. Especially with 7 pro-bowlers, 140$ mil in free agents. You can’t blame the players anymore- we have a great roster. Mr. Mangini: if it were up to me you’d be packin your things.

  25. Farve is mediocre and the coaching is too. Some changes need to be made. I could care less if Shaun Ellis smokes weed or throws snow at some fans, at least he had some fun after a miserable game.

  26. How awesome is it being die hard Jet fans who are passionate about our team? We care, and the overpaid athletes and coaches we have don’t! Woo Hoo it’s a wonderful feeling being a ‘bleed green’ Jet’s fan this time a year! …and just to think, I actually believed we were going to do some damage when we were sitting at 8-3…ANOTHER TYPICAL RIP YOUR F’N HEART OUT DISAPPOINTING YEAR GANG GREEN!!!! Screw Mangina and his girls…wow, completely embarrassing to be a die hard Jets/Mets fan…

  27. “Sparano:Jets to face a different Dolphins team” well…

“Magina:Dolphins to face a different Jets team”

At least in the first meeting with the fish our team had some heart and passion….no we just roll over and play dead…what a bunch of fish smellin’ p*ssies!!!!

  28. at least someone shows signs of frustration after a loss!!!

seriously though, those a-hole were wipping snowballs at the players faces, what do u expect?

  29. Shaun Ellis had a great year despite NEVER getting help. He can throw as many snowballs as he wishes. I hope he ties an S.O.S. note to one and throws it to another coach.

  30. At least Mangidiot has a kid named after Favre to always remind him of this waste of a season.

  31. fonzi- correct that favre was a PR move, and just because everyone doesn’t comment, don’t think you were not the only one that disliked that move. It was an obvious hail mary in terms of on-field results. We win AT LEAST 1 more game w/ Penny at the helm. just swallow that.

BUUUUUUUT- this coaching staff is pathetic. No, and I mean NO defensive pressure in weeks, offense so stagnant, ZERO game plan, ZERO in-game adjustments. No fire, no anger, no motivation, no dissapointment in the team. Just that all too familiar “aw shucks” look on the sideline. I have never seen such bad coaching, Mangina makes is making Herm look like a decent coach this year.

masochism, to root for this team.

  32. Bubby / J D / Eddie C:

I know you guys feel like the bride that got stood up at the alter by the groom. You see, that is the difference between you guys and I , I never got my espectations crushed like all you Farve worshipers. I know and expect ,that the owner, Peckerwood, will not be that stupid to cut off his nose to spite his face. How is he going to sell all those P$L’s with a re-building (again) franchise? Specially is his neighbors win again?
Even you guys are smart enough to realize that, aren’t you?

You guys drank too much marketing koolaide to see this guy is all washed up. The real sad part is that we lost possibly two years in getting REAL franchise QB,and by then, our $140 M option (players) we bought will be very close to expiring.

You see guys, I expected this to happen and I’ll continue to enjoy Pennington and root for the Jets, Mangini, and Schotty. Next year Mangini and Schotty will make us ALL proud with our real Brett and the real JETS

  33. Blair:

I realize what you say is fact. I have also said from day one (ignored by critics) the we wuld go as far as the defense would take us. that this team was built to stop the run and run the ball. That we would come close to our team sack record (I miscounted @ 541/2) I was ready to scream for Sutton’s head last year, but at mid season we were on pace for sacks so I felt maybe i was wrong. But now looking back I believe that he is too much in Manginis mold with no fire or emotion plus no imagination or cojones. He must be fired!! If we get a strong willed DC he will make the whole difference in the team and the only thing we will need is a good QB, that is team leader that doesn’t turn the ball over every other play.

  34. I have a terrible feeling that if he’s fired, New York will be Mangini’s Cleveland.
And you all know what I mean.

  35. Give us a break Bassett. So the guy likes to burn one. Big deal.

Watching that clip, I was not impressed with the Jets scampering off the field because the snow balls were coming down. Cheers to the guys that just took it and walk it off — they deserved a good snowballing. Don’t rake Ellis over the coals because he showed some life, even in defeat.

  36. I’m not sure if Mangini should be fired, but I definetley think the two coordinators should be fired. If Mangini is fired, I’m not sure Cower is the answer either.

I think to really make a difference it would have to start with a new GM, and let him build a team from his experience and philosphies. Question is who (GM) is available, and knows what they are doing? Ron Wolf, Carl Peterson, Mike Holmgren? Maybe an assistant GM from a winning program?

  37. I think Tannenbaum has done a great job. If there’s one guy who should be spared a lot of criticism, it’s him.

  38. i think that was funny

    good work ellis

  39. Everyone needs to just relax for a few days. We had what looked like a potential Super Bowl contender and now suddenly we’ve crumbled. It’s something that’s disappointing, but there is nothing we can do as fans. If there was, I’d be the first to help. Let’s just root for Jville and Buffalo at 1:00. If neither works out, pack it in and give the division to the Dolphins. If one does, get pumped up for the 4:00 start. Now, we don’t have to watch if it doesn’t matter. That’s a good thing for all.

  40. Ah no big deal…I was expecting to see worse. Honestly who cares if he smokes pot or tosses snow into a crowd that is pelting him immediately after a loss.

  41. This was perfectly OK for the following reasons:
    1. It releases frustration, so all jets should have done it.
2.I’ve seen the jets (including Ellis) take a lot of crap from opposing fans.
    3. It looked like fun.
    4. Ellis coulda put a joint out on the bottom of that fan’s foot instead.
    5. captains should defend their team.
    6. Eye for an eye, mother******!!!!

  42. Ok, I understand you and a lot of some of you bloggers are upset about the game, but calling the man a dope fiend???…….easy there buddy, its not that serious, be more concerned about the state of your team, than a snowball fight between ellis and the fans. This is just another avenue for people to say “man, I hate being a jet fan”, but that’s not the reason we blog here, is it? Who cares?…better a snowball than flippin the bird…..next subject please

  43. Bassett -

Don’t be so hard on the Big Katt. He’s clearly just trying to see how many different things he can be in the news for this season. Pot bust, check. Miracle touchdown, check. Chucking glaciers at opposing fans, check. He’s a midget prostitution bust away from the superfecta baby!

  44. Why is this blog getting worse and worse? Weed now makes you a dope fiend, alright Fred Phelps.

  45. i actually have no problem with ellis throwing that snow boulder. it was funny. and it is just snow, not like it was really going to hurt anyone and the fans started it. the people who write for this site are to right wing in my opinion. OMG its weed…OMG ellis threw snow…seriously, if you are goiing to bash anything bash ellis for now playing well.

  46. Who cares if Ellis threw a snow ball at the fans, he was frustrated. And would you please stop bringing up the marijuana thing. The guy way caught with a small amount of weed, big deal. I smoke 4-5 times a day

  47. Bassett, you can’t be serious about this one. I read your articles, and appreciate your opinion, but this time you are being cynical when there is no need for it. Human Being is what the guy is. Leave him alone. You bought his jersey last week when he ran that fumble in, today though, you’re crucifying him. Get serious Bro. I would really like to see your behaviour on day to day bases. No insult, but please man don’t let your frustrations get the best of you and make you say things worthy of a “stunar”.

  48. i have to say… i think it’s kind of funny.

  49. [...] There is always a ton of rain in Seattle. Not so much snow, though. However, in Mike Holmgren’s final home game as Seahawks head coach, Mother Nature decided to get a little funky and pelt the ‘Hawks homefield with a ton of the white powder. Seahawks fans responded accordingly, pelting everyone in site with snowballs. Including the Jets as they did the George Michael walk off the field. Shaun Ellis, Jets team captain, didn’t take this so well, slinging snowballs back at the fans.(Gracias, TJB.) [...]

  50. That “pathetic” team just beat you and threw snowballs as you deserved. While I know the seahawks 4 win season is a 1 time event decimated at injury, the jets my friend are also a 1 time event. 9 wins you’ll be LUCKY next year. My god without favre wtf is going to be your QB? Clemens?? LOL Anyways sore losers i’m not going to waste my time in here anymore and now know that the jets are by far a bunch of sore losers. I would have never guessed in a million years you guys are a 9 win team. Your TERRIBLE! You guys are by far the softest team we’ve played this year. WE HAD 5 PRACTICE SQUAD OFFENSIVE LINEMEN STARTING! I would love advice on how a nfl fan spends the playoffs when their team isnt in the playoffs. I almost don’t remember. If I wanna know what a lonely playoff season is like i’ll come back here and ask. Later losers

  51. Fonz, you are defending Mangini and the coaches? I think you maybe have been partaking in Ellis’ stash. Come on, its a piss poor offense with no adjustments just like the D. Mangini has made so many mistakes and he is not a motivator. I hope we don’t make the playoffs or they will keep him ,uggh.

  52. EastSideKahaluu, on December 22nd, 2008 at 3:30 pm Said:
I have a terrible feeling that if he’s fired, New York will be Mangini’s Cleveland.
And you all know what I mean.

Mangeneric is not and will never be Belichick. He’s at best a .500 coach FOREVER.

  53. Ellis just got fined 10 Grand by the NFL for this!!

  54. Is it me or did it look like Ellis was doing it in fun? Seems like a ridiculous fine. Are the fans that threw snowballs being banned from the stadium? Did the guy that got hit make a complaint. Come on Good-ell.
