Pennington Not Looking for Revenge

Chad Pennington was asked if he was emotional about his return to the Meadowlands and whether he was looking for redemption.

“Will there be some emotions? Sure. You’re going back to the Meadowlands where I played eight years. But I just don’t think it’ll be to the magnitude that it was in the season-opener when the situation was so fresh and so new … it’s never a redemption factor. It’s always gratifying to know the things you believe in as an athlete — the work ethic, the preparation — it works. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that when things aren’t going your way.”

  1. You are trully a class act Chad. If the Jets don’t win a championship, I hope you and the Dolphins do. Good luck and best of health.

    A loyal fan,

  2. and if you BELIEVE that,I have a bridge in Brooklyn I’d like to talk to you about! How could he NOT!? He has a chance to make the PLAYOFFS after bringing a ONE win team to double digit wins the next season(first in N.F.L history) and doing it by BEATING the team that threw him to the curb like last weeks GARBAGE,when ALL he ever wanted to do was PLAY/RETIRE for/with the New York J-E-T-S! If justice is served the FISH will win sunday, but after watching how we played the past 5 weeks, that is just stating the OBVIOUS….Merry Christmas everyone!

  3. As a jets fan, im unhappy how this season turned out over the last 4 weeks but we still have a shot. If buffalo wins this game and they are playing for their head coaches job, the jets will be so motivated they will def win… Remember in 2002 against green bay when the fans found out they made sure the jets did and stomped the favre led packers…. im just saying it can happen…. As for chad, i couldn’t be happier for him. The dolphins got a hell of a football player in chad and i only wish he could have retired as a jet as K.C. mentioned… Congrats chad and most jets fan miss you, at least the good ones do…. But as always Go Jets!!!! and happy holidays to all you jets fans and your families!!!

  4. Pennington is way too smart not to say the right thing to the media. Also, revenge is probably the wrong word. It would certainly be the ultimate form of satisfaction for him.

I am 48 and have been a season ticket holder since (thru my father) 1967. I know this team and Pennington was one of our best QB’s. However, the Jets were never going to the Superbowl with him…neither will the Dolphins. The Jets are bizarrely inconsistent.

I am not and have never been one to criticize Mangini. I always liked him but he needs to infuse more energy and aggression into his team and play calling

  5. Pennington is a garbage QB, and will probably get dumped mulitple times like he did by the Jets. I bet Pennington plays on 3-4 more teams before he retires.

    Truly a subpar quaterback.

  6. Sammy G.

You have the football knowledge of an Eagles fan…..why dont you become one.

  7. Pennington get ready cause Revis and Rhodes are gonna pick you off multiple times just like they used to in practice. Favre is gonna suck in the game but I think the Jets win in spite of him. I hope they trade coles to miami for a draft pick next year so our lineup can look like this: qb Ratliff, rb Jones, te Keller, wr’s Cotchery, Henry, Clowney and stuckey. I’m not looking to next year yet but i’m just saying that would be nice.

  8. Chad Pennington was a great Jet, remains a classy pro and I’m thrilled he found himself in the perfect situation for success in Miami. He deserves it.

Also, I hope to see him drilled into the Meadowlands turf on his first drop-back, throw five picks and limp off the field, his head hung low, in a 45-0 loss. As a 4 decade Jet fan, I’ve seen many players come and go and I wish them all the best…except when they’re across the line of scrimmage. If there’s no crying in baseball, there’s certainly no whining and pining for ex-players in football.

The Favre experiment may or may not prove successful in the long run. He may just not have had enough left in the tank when he got here. But there were big games in which he undoubtedly delivered. Just ask Kevin Mawae, who took many a snap from Chad Pennington. From the NFL Films mike on Mawae after Favre threw a dart to LC in the back of the end zone:

Bo Scaife: “I can’t believe he got that in there.”
    Mawae: “It’s Brett Favre, bro.”

I just wonder how many of the fans who claim the Jets would have been better off with Chad this year, are going to call up their friendly neighborhood bookie and send it in on #10 if he gets to take the Dolphins into Tennessee or New England in a playoff game? Honestly.

As it is, I’ll be rooting for Buffalo at one o’clock on Sunday and, if the Magic Football Fairy decides to throw the Jets a bone in that one, I’ll root for the Jets to dismantle Pennington and the Phins at 4.

And, if by some strange turn of events, Favre is quarterbacking another team against the Jets next year, I’ll be rooting for his and that team’s cataclysmic destruction as well.

The particular strain of the disease Jet Fandom I’m afflicted with forces me to root for whomever is in that rather unlucky shade of green, no matter what letters are on the back of the shirt. This Sunday will be no different.

  9. The big difference between this Sunday and 2002 is that once the players found out they were alive and stepped it up, the Packers wanted no part of it, having clinched and playing for possible seeding. The Dolphins will be playing for the division too.

The only advantage is the sudden surge the Jets will have to be resurrected at 4:15pm. I’m not expecting any miracles but will be there just in case.

  10. craig, you’re just upset because your Pennington Jets jersey, boxers, and picture of him hanging on your wall at home, are combined worth less than a pack of chewing gum.

  11. Actually I do not own any Penninton Jerseys…..I am upset that uneducated fans ran him out of town….
    Pennington is a top 10 QB….Look at his stats….
    He is getting MVP consideration.

Sammy are you a football fan??? Or a Mets fan looking to complain about something on the off season.

Chad won with the Jets…He is winning with Miami. He has never had great talent around him. Ted Ginn is their number 1 WR….are you kidding. If having a strong arm was the only thing important to being a QB…Browing Nagle would be in the fall of fame.

  12. Craig, I can see that you have a strong connection with Pennington. I hope you don’t lose too much sleep about it. Thad…I mean Chad won 4 games last year with the Jets. Is that your franchise QB?

Pennington will never win the big game, and Parcels knows it.

It’s pretty easy to have good stats when you’re playing in 80 degree weather with no wind for half of your games.

    DUDE GET OVER IT

  13. Sammy,
True they won 4 games last year. It must have been your first year as a Jets fan. You probaly also wanted to drop Thomas Jones.

It is easy to win games/have good stats in 80 degree weather….Is that why the Dolphins won 1 game last year and made the playoffs 10 years ago. Pennington will never win a big game and Parcels knows it….why would he give CP 11 million? Well thought out analysis.

    I’m over it….

    Get a clue…He is good..

  14. Of course Chad is not looking for revenge… He has played a Pro Bowl Caliber year with a team that has the chance to win the division. He was replaced for a quarterback that has played mediocre at best this year and has been consistent with one thing.. timely interceptions. If anything Chad is probably getting a good laugh out of this.

Lets just pray the ravens or patsies slip up and we can start fresh in the playoffs.

    GO JETS

  15. Chad Pennington is a great Jet! Will always be a great Jet in my mind. He was Joy to watch when healty and had some time to throw the ball.

Remember one thing about last season that all of you have forgotten… Chad on all pass plays took just a 3 step drop and released the ball. On a 3 step drop he was running for his life and getting pounded. That offensive line was TERRIBLE!

Chad would have had a great season with this Jet Offensive Line. The Jets would have won 10 to 12 games with Chad at QB.

All you Guy’s last off season who posted on this board who in effect ran Chad off the team. By saying he can never win were DEAD WRONG!

Just look what he did running that CRAP Dolphin offense this season!

And you know what? If the Jet Offense doesn’t score at least 30 points on Sunday! The Jets will lose and Chad Pennington will get all the glory he deserves!

I was not for the Bret move at the beginning. I didn’t want a QB for one season and then have to look for a new QB for next year. Bret has sold me on this move right into the Tennesee win. At that point he won me over.

Bret needs to go out this Sunday and score Touchdowns. Many touchdowns… 30 to 40 points worth. Then next week he needs to tell all Jet fans that he will be the Jet QB next season with no hesitation!

  16. Eric Mangini is to the Jets Like George Bush is to the U.S.
When an incompetent leader is at the controls the organization fails. We should be 12-3 going in to this weekend. I hate seeing all this talent wasted. I think that a change is warranted and with our talent we could win it all next year with a great coach and a 4-3 defense.

  17. I really don’t understand the some of the bitter ignorance I hear from you heart broken fans, as a LONG time jet fan myself, I don’t see why chad pennington couldn’t take a team to the superbowl(he almost took ours) or win one when rex grossman almost did. People can be so bitter and stubborn to where it makes our team laughable. Get over it, he’s a good quarterback with more to be happy about than his former employers who sold their souls for popularity and not for wins(by getting favre)…..talk about karma, hahaha

  18. It sounds like sammy walked in on his girlfriend with chad pennington, do you own a #10 voodoo doll or somethin?

  19. Subwayfare, you hit the nail on the head! We root for our laundry, no matter what. Win or lose, they’re ours to cherish/ loathe/ revel/ mourn/ get sick with/ jump for joy with.
