50,000 Comments (and Counting)

by Bent on December 29th, 2008 at 8:17 am

Last night, at 11:18pm, a comment from Dean was the 50,000th comment on thejetsblog.com since version 2.0 of the site was launched in September 2005. This includes 10,000 over the last 9 weeks alone, which is a testament to how quickly the site has been growing.

Allow me to take this opportunity to thank you all for the contributions you make. Members of the local and National media have apparently complimented the standard of intelligence in our discussions many times. We will continue to encourage and foster healthy and respectful debate.

A quick count-up indicates that only 49,000 of the comments were about Favre v Chad. Most of the rest were about Spygate.

Hey guys, can we get a bare-bones draft preview up asap? I sorry for the obnoxious request, but I need something…anything to try and get over this. Maybe just what pick we have and 3 or 4 possible options….?

Congrads to TheJetsBlog! The Jets may be perpetual losers, but they have by far the best blog in the NFL thanks to Basset and company. The rest of the AFC East fans wish they had a blog for their team like TheJetsBlog, as evidence of the recent surge in non-Jet fans to this blog. Keep up the good work, the Jets have at least have you guys going for them.

Bassett, Bent, and the rest of the TJB crew…my thanks to all of you for creating and maintaining such a high quality blog.

  6. avatar kj says:

the jets next QB is currently a giant lets get going for David Carr
    to be our next QB

mangini out ..lets get someone thats gonna actually gonna coach to win now ..and lets fire sutton fire sutton ..fire freakin sutton ..and schott too

  7. avatar rob says:

YESSSS! NO MORE MANGINA! NO MORE FAVRE!

  8. avatar Kaan says:

They had to do it, they should have lost the last 5 games, in which they were all favored to win and looked terrible the last two games. Somehow he lost the team. I’m still trying to figure out what happened after that Tennessee game.

  9. avatar kj says:

ps. i was a huge coles supporter throughout the contract crap ..but he might be done too ..although if we let him go he WILL be a dolphin instantaneously

  10. avatar JeffF says:

Thanks you Chad Pennington for beating the Jets. If Mangini gets fired that was teh nail in the coffin. Please bring someone in who can lead these men.

  11. avatar kj says:

spagnuolo for head coach and david carr as starting QB

  12. avatar klecko71 says:

    david carr…..ugh….not happening.

spags is my #2 choice behind cowher though

  13. avatar Dean says:

Wow, what a way to wake up! I am 50,000, lol. I wonder who is going to be the 100,000? I wouldn’t be surprised if its reached today after the news Mangini was fired. I have to be honest, I was expecting him to be fired but not this soon. I thought they would find out whats going on with Favre first. I guess whatever Favre’s status is he wont’ be a Jet in 2009.

  14. avatar JAY says:

    BILL COWER MATT CASSEL

  15. avatar kj says:

cowher won’t be coming back to football anytime soon or ever again ..and on cassell the pats have no choice but to franchise him or lock him up long term because tommy boy might still be hurt going into the season

reasons for my lobbying for carr:

1.) as a starter with the crappy texans and that awful line he consistantly had the 2nd best comp % behind who? pennington. and that was a david carr who was running for his life

2.) he’s been coached up by chris palmer who is an outstanding QB coach to the point of almost being a miracle worker

    3.) cheap cheap cheap

as for coaches other then spags who i hope never leaves the giants who else is a top prospect ..will urban meyer be a quality nfl coach and how soon do we see sutton fired and who will replace him ..crennel maybe? (but only as the DC)

  16. avatar Bent says:

David Carr is absolutely and unequivocally awful.

    No.

  17. avatar kj says:

yeah u football genius’s said the same thing about pennington the people football IQ and instincts on this blog site are serious in doubt in my book if you’re not crying over how bad the jets suck you’re shooting down ideas for how to get better how bout taking a step back and looking at things before u judge just because he had a couple of bad years on a horrible team ..matt schaub who is a highly touted QB can’t even turn that craphole around

lose some of that arrogance and swallow some pride and wipe the mascara from your eyes before u negative nancy’s dismiss ideas to help ..no wonder why no why theres no Good jets blog sites the ppl on here suck and theres more pats fans on here then jets fans

  18. avatar GeorgeFoley says:

I hope that Woody looks at Tuna’s status. Have Tannenbaum in as Tuna’s subordinate or let him go as well.

  19. avatar dean says:

ok mangini out lets start over again?what is this find the right coach and stop this same old jet thing!!!!!every three or so years we go through this XXXking hell enough already find out what it would take for coach bill cower to take this mess over? we want chad back hahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. avatar Bent says:

kj…I apologize for my unnecessarily curt rebuttal to the Carr proposal. I was merely in a hurry, but I do feel strongly that Carr is an inferior option and that is based on last year and this year, not his time in Houston.

Personally, I was a Pennington supporter. I hope you’ll agree that this is a good blog really – and the comment that there are more Pats than Jets fans here is obviously not true because I haven’t seen a single Pats comment since before last Sunday’s game.

Once again, I shouldn’t have been so dismissive of your post and I apologize.

  21. avatar Mark says:

Thank You Woody. This one was for the fans. Now do the fans another favor and axe Sutton along with Schottemhiemer. The entire staff is a disaster and there needs to be a total change of culture for the next couple of years.

Hey thejetsblog people, thanks for providing such a great site. Shamae about the year, but here’s to 40 more!

  23. avatar CM says:

I could not agree more, David Carr Should be brought in we have a line to protect him he scrambles very well and he has a great arm, Tannenbaum should also persuade Holmgren to the jets

  24. avatar CM says:

At least they should bring in Carr as a back up ….(eventually to take the job after two games). Kellen Clemens is not a NFL starter

  25. avatar CM says:

I shouldn’t say we, I don’t play for the jets
