There is nothing wrong with his shoulder…

He was using it as a scapegoat for his lackluster performance.

anyone see that cowher denied the jets only because of tannenbaum ..fire this idiot pls he’s avoided the guilotine too many times

  3. avatar zenlaw says:

Not sure where to post this, but ESPN is reporting that Cower will not interview for the Jets job unless the Jets lose Tanny.

If woody keeps tanny and skips over cowher, i will be one furious jets fan. seriously??

This goes to show you how bad the Jets coaches have been though out the years, when Joe Walton couldn’t even crack the top nine worst.
The Jets need a coach who can be the face of the franchise. Something that they havnen’t really had, other than the short term stay of Parcells. I believe Bill Cowher can bring stability to a team that has pretty much never had any. Someone who will be there coach for the next ten seasons. Someone who will be able to use the talent they already have with the 3-4 and the ability to run the football. Woody should do whatever it takes to bring him in. Why not show the fans that he is serious about winning and taking this team from the doldrums and placing it as an elite organization. This franchise doesn’t need another unproven coach. We’ve tried that with Groh, Edwards, and Mangini. I would like very much for the Jets to be a perennial playoff team, let’s get someone who can establish that. When Cowher took over the Steelers he had some mighty big shoes to fill, and he filled them very nicely. Let him come in and put his stamp on this team for years to come. To borrow the most over used phrase of 2008, we need a change you can believe in, and that’s Bill Cowher. IMHO.

Calvin Herd of ESPN Radio’s “The Herd” says, “Bill Cowher passed on Jets interview and why would he? Cower’s a first rate coach and Jets are a second rate team.”

    Ouch!!!

  7. avatar Harlan Lachman says:

Two thoughts. Sammy Baugh was before my time but that means Eric was the 7th best coach. And how anyone could rate him worse than Herm is beyond me. The players played hard, were organized and had two winning seasons. So he was 6th out of 16. I would rank him ahead of Walton (at least Eric did not pick his nose). That would put him in the top third. A sorry commentary on our coaches but…

But what struck me most interesting on this day after was the mean spiritedness of the NY media — and their stupidity.

Individual coaching decisions are relatively unimportant in games. But most of the criticism involved that, Eric’s demeanor, or the fact that he was called Mangenius, a name he never called himself.

It would be fine to criticize selection of starting personnel, play calling since the coordinators answer to the HC (too few runs, too many empty backfield sets, too many passive prevent or non-blitzing plays etc.) or specific in game adjustments (as opposed for criticizing someone for doing an unspecified something). But none of the articles I read did so.

Some seem like the Times Rhoden seem completely out of touch with reality and call for another blowing apart of a team that finished a disappointing 9-7. What a moron.

I look forward to seeing how Tannenbaum and Woody decide to define the Jets. Will it be two steps back (hiring Spags who relies on the wrong D) or will Tanny be thrown under the bus to get Cowher, or will they..

The next several weeks are now more interesting.

  8. I don’t understand what Jane says that the JETS opted for Favre over Mangini because their relationship was strained. If Favre wants out, whats the point of choosing him over Mangini.
It’s not like they need a reason to fire Mangini and this reason is not confirmed anyway. Doesn’t make sense.
