    Very interesting.

I was just thinking about Ellis at DT in Spag’s defense when you mentioned it. I actually think Ellis and Jenkins might work quite well together inside on that defense in certain looks. Ellis in the Tuck role, Jenks in a more traditional DT role (and yes, I do remember what a disaster it was when they tried him there in 01-02, but this would be a more similar role to a 3-4 end than in the Jets old 4-3).

I think the DE’s and the weakside LB could come from Gholston, Bowens, Pace and BT (with a resigned Murrell or Trusnik also in the mix for that weakside LB position), although they’d need to draft a fast strong side backer who can go sideline to sideline (and Harris would have to slim down from 260 to 240).

My other thought is that now Tangini/Mannenbaum is a thing of the past, what will we call the new power couple?

    Tannuolo/Spagenbaum?
    Tannahan/Shannenbaum?
Cowhenbaum? (Oh right, that one’s gone).
    Tannenbrett/Favrenbaum?

But why would my dreams came true as a true Jet fan?

    Excellent interview!
Boland really hits it on the head with the characterization of both Tannenbaum and Woody during their press conference and how much it appeared to suggest that this organization is looking out for bringing back #4 next year in the name of the $$$, nostalgia and star power. Mangini appeared to be the scapegoat for a season gone wrong, rightfully so or not.
I also liked his view on Glauber’s questioning prowess which actually gave me pause to respect the man as a journalist even though his views aren’t always in sync with mine or most fans.
BTW, I have to say I am in the Rex Ryan bandwagon as well, and I realy do encourage everyone to read the inbox interview with him in SI recent 12/22/08 issue.
