140 million dollar line? That's not right. Add up the total of all the contracts for the five offensive linemen including even unguaranteed money and you only get to about $115m and that includes the years that have already been paid.

Besides, the line wasn't really the whole issue. The primary pass protector (Ferguson) gave up three sacks and overall they were much better than the previous year. Part of it was that they went to so many spread formations, whereas many other teams will max protect.

It is true though, when healthy teams cannot stack the box against Favre like they did in the past, although they did to an extent while his arm was clearly bothering him and he was rarely throwing deep.

Sometimes, when they do stack the box, you can break more long runs. I think this is what happened over the second half where the Jets had more runs stuffed, but broke a few long TDs.

even at 39 there are not many teams that will stack 8 in the box with favre behind center and that does help a running back. favre spent a lot of time on his back considering that 140 million dollar line

The only people that are creating a circus atmosphere is EVERYONE EXCEPT BRETTY FAVRE.

And yes that includes the players, the fans, and the media.

Thomas Jones is an unprofessional punk carbaby to say anything about favre to the media. Jones had his best season ever this year with favre at the helm. He has already been on 5 teams in his career ( mostly average at best ) and by the way he " stands" by his teammates, I'm sure it will be more soon. Favre played with the Packers longer then Jones' whole career will last. He needs to show some respect for a true legend of the game. Favre has played through injuries his whole career and does not guit on his team because of an injury. It would be a Coache's decision to pull him in that situation and maybe that why he got fired. Bottom Line Favre is the best quartback to ever play the game. ( Records do the talking ) and Jones will only be remembered as the player that direspected Favre.

Dysfunctional is putting it mildly.

A fish stinks from the head down, and this all starts with Woody Johnson and his PSL's, thats why he brought in Favre, and in doing so he sacrificed long term stability for short term WOW factor. Now it's blown up in his face and once again we are a joke in the NFL.

I knew bringing in Favre would create a circus atmosphere, and now no established, big name coach will go near us (Cower, Shannahan, Schottemheimer, Holmgren) they will not want to be mired in the Favre soap opera. Our only option for a coach will be some no name coordinator.

This was not Mangini's fault, he was put in an impossible situation, Woody Johnson (WJ) knew he had an inexperienced HC, one who was just starting to learn how to be a HC. WJ should have known that by insisting on Favre he was basically hamstringing Mangini. There was no way that Mangini could control Favre, and he could definitely not bench him, he could only just sit by and put up with it all. Maybe a coach like Parcells could have handled this situation, but not Mangini, and shame on WJ for putting financial gain ahead of the plan that Tannenbaum and Mangini had laid out.

If we fans had any brains and cojones we would boycott the Jets and not buy the PSL's, if nothing else then just to let WJ know that we are not that easily bought.

Elam. Poteat, K Coleman and Baker are good enough players especially Elam and Poteat that dont make any money and make plays. Barton is a free agent so I would assume he will be replaced. If a guy like <Marty comes in a lot fo these players will stay. A new guy like Spoagniolo or Ryan it could get bloody in Jersey.

Atta boy, TJ ! Way to man-up ! But honestly, you didn't need to. We all know exactly how you felt in your original quotes, and we all know that the media blew it WAAAAY out of proportion. I hate the NY media too !!

You guys sure are eager to get rid of a lot of solid players. Barton, Ellis, Thomas, and Baker are good football players. Elam has potential and does not make any significant amount of money. There is no reason to cut a guy who seemed to make a lot of big plays for us this year.

Again...... TJ was just coming off today like a man. He didnt want to make it like he went out of his way to bash Favre. Fact is he said what every Jet player and fan was thinking.
