News: Atlas Blasts Jets Front Office for Scapegoating Mangini
Did Teddy Atlas just send this organization’s public image down for the count?
Teddy Atlas of course is Mangini’s friend, a renowned boxing trainer and (was) special assistant to the Jets. Atlas pulled no punches in an interview with the New York Post, so if you thought the anonymous comments from a Jet about Brett Favre the other day were strong, wait until you get a load of what Teddy Atlas told the NY Post after the jump.
On How Favre Changed the 2008 Plans …
“Mangini went into the season ready for a whole different approach, whether it was going to be Chad Pennington or Kellen Clemens (at quarterback), whoever won that battle, it was going to be a secure, protect the ball, intelligent approach. It was something he was comfortable with, something he believed in. The whole plan, the whole blueprint got thrown out the window when Favre came. He’s the antithesis of that. He throws the ball all over the place.”
“Mangini had no choice in the matter. How you going to argue with a Hall of Fame guy coming in and the business part of it? He did the best he could to adjust to it.”
On Favre as a PSL Ploy …
“You’re paying a guy ($13) million, you’re asking fans to buy PSLs, you’ve got a new facility, you’ve got money all over the place. You bring this guy in and in your mind, you’re looking at Mick Jagger. Now who’s to say the owner doesn’t start to meddle? It can disrupt a lot of things and it can explain some things that fans don’t see.”
On Favre’s Me-First Approach …
“I think Brett Favre basically is a selfish guy. Brett Favre goes out there with his gray hair, his Wranglers and gets up when he gets hit. I understand why people like that. But there’s another side. He’s a selfish guy.”
On the Jets “Fear of Losing” …
“When you’re a fighter and you’re going into the fight, your fundamentals have to be there. We always say, ‘The jab leads the way.’ If you took that analogy and put it in football (terms), the quarterback leads the way. If you lead it in a reckless way, bad things are going to happen. (Favre) was reckless.”
Atlas knows he’s not going to be back with the Jets in 2009, and has no problem saying the things that Mangini couldn’t or wouldn’t since he’s left the organization. Taking into account Atlas’ loose cannon status, it still confirms everything that I thought Mangini felt saddled with about the whole circus this season became because of Brett Favre.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, I was convinced before the Jets settled on Pennington or Clemens that this season wasn’t going to be about passing as much as running the ball and taking some opporunities deep … but ultimately always about securing the football.
Adding Favre was about other things, and it failed miserably. Credit to the organization for trying something bold, but to be so out of step with their coach, to not see Mangini’s misgivings seems mind-blowing. We’re in a bit of a “he said she said” situation here and will never know the truth. Maybe Mangini played the good soldier with his superiors just like he expected from his players … maybe he told them no and they didn’t listen, we’ll likely never know. Either way, if Mangini never voiced his opinion about the trade, then it’s his fault, but if the ownership wouldn’t listen, then they’re to blame.
I like Woody, I think he’s a decent guy, but I just don’t understand what’s going on in his head. For ownership to be as myopic about the real reasons for the collapse of the 2008 season is the most damning evidence of the overall competence of this team’s ownership. As much as this organization tries to emulate the Patriots, they’ll never do it without the vision that our friends in New England bring.
Let’s just hope the ownership can pick themselves up off the mat from here.

Atlas is also backstabbing the Jets.
What a dysfunctional organization.
What coach will want to end up a Jet?
I do not think Atlas was backstabbing, probably just telling the truth.
Atlas and I share a common opinion. I would have liked to have seen how we would have done without Favre. Mangini still might have been fired. Just wish my team didn’t go against the “system” and “plan” they put in place. I saw some potential. TJ sure had a good year and so did Leon.
Atlas isn’t backstabbing either say you worked for a random store with a friend. If you two basically got fired together would you not say any faults you saw with the place and air the dirty laundry with friends. Thats life.
Backstabbing?
The Jets stabbed Mangini in the back my friend.
Atlas was telling the TRUTH!
Favre was NOT a fit for this team! Favre was forced on Mangini ONLY to SELL PSL’s!
NOW the TRUE Mistake will be displayed on Sunday! The real SIN here is letting Chad go for Favre!
Watch the Magic he performes on Sunday! This is what happens when Jets Fans listen to all these talking heads on talk radio and on all these fooball TV shows! They get conned by these fools!
Now these same fools are saying Chad should have been voted to the probowl and what a fantastic year he had! They are all know nothing FOOLS!
I want Rex Ryan for HC of the Jets!
But make no mistake… Chad and the Dolphins will win on Sunday!
Chad has that special magic which he will work to perfection on Sunday. When healthy with the Jets behind a decent offensive line he displayed that magic for many years with the Jets. It seems many Jet fans were oblivious to that Magic!
Remember one thing…. the Ravens have a rookie QB in Falco. The feel good stories for rookie QB’s always end in the playoffs! This is a FACT in the NFL! Miami’s defense will end Falco’s feel good story on Sunday!
Look what they did last week to Favre as a recent example!
Joe
All of the above may be true to an extent, though I think the demonization of Favre as a person may be going a little overboard. If Mangini hated him as much as his subordinates are giving him credit for, he had a strange way of showing it with all the hugs, accolades and naming his kid after him. What if the story is simply that everyone tired their best from Woody to the ballboys and it just didn’t work out.? Of course that’s just not nearly as fun to write about.
Brett the man is getting unfairly blasted, when Brett the Player is who the press, fans , and players have a problem with. I hate the player, but I’m sure the man has some great stories. Mangini names his kids after people who effected his career Brett sure did. I’m sure he thought it would be for the better at the time. He wasn’t expecting a total collapse. His 2nd kids middle name is Bill. Him and Bill aren’t that close anymore are they?
Teddy Atlas is a Pv$$y. What has he done. He lost his cah cow and now he is crying like a F#$%. The past is the past we need to move on. How many championships did mangini win? How many did Favre? Ok so they took a gamble, better than sticking with the same crappola year in and year out. This year will be new chance at respectability.
Teddy needs to go on a reality show with Mike Tyson. See if he can motivate that crazy a$$.
Teddy Atlas is friends with Mangini, and he has no clue how to run a football team, so his comments don’t mean much.
Why is no one mentioning Favre’s injury? It was painfully obvious the last 5 games he couldn’t get the ball deep. I know it’s a tough decision to bench a legend, but Mangini should have done it, at least by the Seattle game. Everyone who was a Chad supporter gave him all the slack for his play last year because of his injury. To be fair you gotta give Brett the same slack.
Bringing Favre here was the right move. Before he was hurt he had us at 8-3, atop the division and we had just beaten the best team in the AFC on their field. Unfortunately injuries happen. Mangini did a horroble job, period. The defense went downhill fast and his in game decisions were awful. He showed no guts with his calls and with keeping Favre in the games. That’s why he was fired. At tthe same time there is alot of bashing of the Jet org going on. I disagree with all of that. Tannenbaum and Woody have vastly upgraded the talent on this team. Without even thinking about the personnel moves they will make, this is a playoff caliber team. I give them all the credit in the world for seeing that a new voice was needed to lead. They moved quickly to fire Mangini and to line up good candidates. Spags or Ryan will most likely be the next HC and both are fine with me.
Also, I am not so sure who I would like to see at QB next year. If Favre is healthy and the new HC is comfortable with him, then that may be the best choice. I have always liked Clemens and would also like to see him get a shot. We’ll know how the new coach feels about Clemens by how the draft goes. Unlike many other fans on this site I am not disheartened by this past season. There was alot of excitement this year, something we haven’t had in a while. Did anyone think we were going to win the SB this year? Either with Favre, or Pennington? No, no one did. Exept after we beat Tenn, with Favre. Tannenbaum has done a good job bringing talent and I expect the team to be improved next year. Again, unlike most of the other posters here, I think Tanny and Woody have the team going in the right direction.
All you fools that say that he was just “telling the truth” are really to dumb to be writing in a blog.
James- How many has Favre won in the last decade? MVPs? Thought so. 3 years doesn’t equal the same crappola. Oh and I guess you have met Atlas to judge him so.
Sammy G- The house is burning down people can scream and shout all they want as they run away. If you want to blame people for talking blame management for not keeping them happy.
Get used to it Guy’s all the BS is going to come out!
Mangini kept everyone quite… keep the peace… kept a Team first attitude! Mangini is gone!
Everyone will now speak!
Everyone!
Joe
Sammy G- You have posted some of the most ignorant comments I have ever seen on this blog and seem to have no knowledge that doesn’t come from espn. If you think we are all dumb go some place else, because you aren’t adding anything.
*looks sternly at JAGG and Sammy G*
ESPN…. just one of the talking FOOL outlets that most Jets fans take as gospel!
Boy have they change their toon on Chad!
FOOLS!
Pete- You’re right about the excitement factor. I always like being a back page franchise tho and Favre was hurt during the Raider’s game. As for a point I havent seen brought up does anyone remember we played Tenn on over a weeks rest after playing the Pats? or the fact that we had a warm up gave VS StL at home before the Pats. We were greatly helped by the schedule. Atlas doesn’t know football he only knew what Mangini wanted. Regardless we will all argue over firing the next coach when he makes a few questionable calls. Mangini should have been fired, but he shouldn’t have been the only one. B Schott is being interview for HC for god’s sake.
How many people thought Favre was a mistake after week 12?
I thought I was wrong about hating the deal before the season started. I really haven’t liked Favre for years, but any fan had to be excited after Tennessee.
Jaag:
The whole problem started with “the man” and not “the player. Farve has carried this baggage andthe evidece is the chaos he created in GB. Every Presser started about him and he made sure it ended about him. ..”Brett are you going to retire this year” ……’ I don’t want to discuss it ‘ then spends the next ten minutes explaining why he doesn’t want to dis cusse it. he always sucked the air out of all the pressers. Everything was about him, his way, his style.
Those that still insisted the it was everyones fault ,and everyone else are liers and backstabbers, are just delusional.
THIS IS THE WORST COLLAPSE AND THE MOST CHAOTIC STATE OF THIS FRANCHISE IN ITS SORRY ASS HISTORY. And I say this with a broken heart and a pain in my gutt.
Three people are totally responsible: IT STARTED WITH OWNER, THEN TANNENBAUM, THEN LAST BUT DEFINITIVELY NOT LEAST, FARVE. Period end of sentence.
Teddy Atlas said the same things on the Max Kellerman show the other day. He also said the Woody Johnson was just as meddlesome as Jerry Jones but was not as out in the open about it.
I think if someone comes out and says things in an open forum and on the record it does not make them a back stabber, they are merely speaking their mind. It’s when someone says it anonymously that makes them a back stabber.
JustaGreenGuy, This is a fan board and unless you are employed by the Jets organization and are in the clubhouse each day, then by that reasoning you need to shut the F@#$ up.
just a thought.
I’ve never seen such an avolanch of criticism on one player, essentially blaming the entire season on him.
From the players, to anonymous sources, no coaches?
Favre’s obviously done as a Jet, probably for the best.
Time to rebuild again!!!
No, actually 1985 was worse. We were 10-1 and lost the last 5 games to finish 10-6.
ramble, you’re right teddy can say whatever he wants.
But it shows how classless he is.
It was our worst collapse. I prefer JAGG btw. I try not to judge the people. I mean TO really only wants to win he just has no idea how to express that. The fanchise is in a bad spot, but with the right coach we could be good next year. Regardless of your opinion on his coaching Mangini has built a good foundation and Tannenbaum knows how to manipulate numbers.
Bent- I was defending the blog.
Joe Namath must be grateful Teddy Atlas wasn’t working for the Rams when he tried to recapture the magic one last time.
The Jets should thank Favre for gambling his legacy on a floundering 4-12 team full of anonymous sources and hangers-on like Atlas, who probably looked him in the eye with a smile everyday before trashing him the second he left the building, and use the 13 million to bolster the roster elsewhere.
Now I just hope someone like Ryan can come in and mop up this sordid mess.
B. Schott should NOT be fired!
In case you know nothing fools haven’t noticed.
The Jets ran a completely difference offense with Favre at QB!
This was a simple… predictable offense! Designed after Favre got here.
This was NOT the offense the team worked all off season on and was NOT the offese that was run in Pre-season!
This was NOT B. Schott’s creative, confusing for Defense’s, no huddle offense that was run the previous two years!
But you know nothings and all the talking head know nothings didn’t notice this FACT!
Ramble- At least we made the Playoffs and won a game in 85. We really screwed teh pooch this year.
James- I’m in the state where the franchise is based is that close enough to keep typing? Sorry I don’t think Favre is any good.
What’s Atlas supposed to say? He was hired as a consultant by Mangini and thought (as do I) that Mangini got a raw deal….In saying that Atlas and his “boxing skills” camp was a joke. His 2 best “boxers” were V Hobson and A Clement….both then sucked their way through an awful 2007 season. Only the F-ing Jets!!!!
james im pretty sure you wouldnt say that to his face……so who’s p*****y now?
Sammy G:
You said: ” This $hit needs to be kept in house. The fact that everyone including is talking including the pathetic coward anonymous sources is what’s going to bring down this organization.”
Are you kidding me???? Bring down the organization ?
WAKE UP !!! Where do you think they are IN THE PENTHOUSE?? Any lower and they are nonexistan.
YOU ARE DELUSIONAL!!!!
WOW i just read another rip on the JETS front office THEY stated why dont we just hire PLEXICO BURRESS so he can show us the proper way to shoot ourselves in the leg…MAN these media reporters are digging deep to put it on the THE JETS FRONT OFFICE this offseason…
Thanks Hank! You too buddy!
And James I’m here just as often as you are. I speak as a fan and Atlas has said the same things I have been saying since the season ended. Thus I agree with him. We all know it wasn’t just Favre and that he was hurt, but he obviously created issues and it is easier to lose him than 5 other players. The teams culture was team first and a guy who never did minicamps was brought in. People acted like people.
Bent……..
I thought that you filter spam! Then how come you allow Sammy G posting?
I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again.
The only people that are creating this circus type atmosphere is EVERYONE EXCEPT BRETT FAVRE.
He’s keeping his mouth shut, while everyone else on the team is bringing down the organization.
Jets will not win more than 5 games next year.
Sammy G…
I am joking
the truth hurts doesn’t it Nikolas
ridinmywave, good question. The answer is you.
Seeing the coaching names out there (Im sorry, not sold on Spags nor Rex) and all the REAL news coming out with Jets finally speaking – Im gonna ask a crazy question, but Im serious….
Q: Can we turn around and re-hire Mangini?
I think we sent the wrong guy packing, he definitely had his shortcomings but likely learned some lessons too. How can a coach be held accountable when he has a QB that he doesnt want? The QB is the most important player in football and when he is doing what Brett did all season you will fail. Not to mention the discontent in the locker room.
What gets lost here is that Pennington was the BEST locker room guy, hardest worker, lead by example. I knew from the outset that Favre would not be this guy because he wasnt this guy in Green Bay (if u listen close enough, definitely not ESPN). Anyone who has played sports at any level can tell you that teamwork/comraderie does matter, especially when a teams most looked up to player (Penny) get sent packing for a guy who thinks the team is about him, hangs by himself, and didnt create any sort of team atmosphere.
I’d love to see the most ballsy move of all and re-hire Mangini, immediately. Im sure I’ll be in the small minority on this, as I was with Chad/Brett.
Sammy- Can I quote you on that? I have use in the 7-9 to 8-8 range at the moment. Of course that is with a good draft and not changing the defense. Ypou could very well be right.
Sammy G;
You seriously need to look at your values, my man!!
Start by looking up the word ‘ VETTING ‘.
I bet if you were a cop you would erase Internal Affairs from within the Police Dep’t.
Sammy G What in the world would FAVRE have to say anyways…HE SMART not to talk because it would only be the scenerio of OPEN MOUTH INSERT FOOT…
justagreenguy, yes you can quote me on that.
I’ll even be more specific, we’ll win AT MOST 5 games, and could very well be less than that.
open mouth insert foot? that is what half of the Jets organization has been doing the entire season.
Ramble, I could be wrong, but didn’t we actually start out 10-0 in ‘85? Regardless, that first half schedule was loaded with cupcakes as I recall and I don’t think we had any wins on par with the NE or TENN games, so I think you a case can be made that this was the biggest collapse in our tortured history (I’ve been a diehard fan since Richard Todd era).
As for Teddy’s comments, I respect them, particularly since they are on the record. However, as others have posted, Mangini did name his kid after him, so I doubt he was that oppossed to the aquisition initially.
Despite the poor game decisions (Seattle in particular) the thing that bothered me most about Mangini this year was the childish and impotent reactions he showed on the sideline during tough times……eyes rolling, mouthing whiney comments, etc. He’s the head coach. If you don’t like what you are seeing, do something about it, but show some class and leadership on the sideline.
I want Spags. I want QB competition between baby Brett and KC to see what we have; I want an attacking defense; I want us to focus on youthful players with upside through draft and FA.
Finally, biggest FA bust this year IMO was Faneca. Old, overpriced, gave up more than his fair share of sacks, penalties, etc.
And before anyone sheds too many tears for Mangini – whom I would not have fired without a clear upgrade – if he had one a better job of developing his own QB he may not have been in this situation.
One interpretation of events might even be that Chad was even more responsible for Mangini’s firing than Favre was. Mangini didn’t want Chad – coming off a 2nd surgery and missing 13 games the previous year – when he was initially hired. He made that clear by drafting KC and was clearly conflicted when Chad outplayed the rookie in camp. Chad’s ‘06 comeback year forced Mangini into starting the oft-injured player again in ‘07, which after another Chad injury, resulted (along with other factors) in the disastrous season that influenced the FO to reach for the fading star, Favre.
I would bet that if Mangini had it to do over again, he wouldn’t have risked his first HC opportunity on a very good, but injury-plagued QB, who had never been healthy and consistent for a period as long as Mangini’s initial contract.
*dons asbestos suit in anticipation of the usual flame-throwers*
Can Woody have been dumber to start the offseason? Fires Mangini without doing any due diligence to find a replacement or see how the coaching market opens up. Gives a glowing endorsement of Brett without knowing how Brett feels and won’t even meet Cowher face to face. Cowher would have payed for the PSLs. Favre- Cowher are big big names. Business wise ‘m disapointed in him
Subway- Couldn’t agree with you more Mangini had Brian Billicks disease. A decent coach who couldn’t make a QB. Should have signed Brees.
Several have noted that Brett is unlikely to come back due to all the negative talk surrounding him. I hope that’s the case.
However, part of me worries that he will use this as motivation to return to “avenge” his sullied image.
Bassett:
YOU ARE THE ONLY REASON I HAVE NOT LEFT THIS BLOG. I have congratulated you in the past because of you fairness in “reporting” on what is important to the JETS. I know some will not agree but your comments on the Atlas article, again, proves how open and fair you are. Your principles have allowed me to express my anger and I trully thank you for it!!!
LONG LIVE TJB, LONG LIVE THE JETS !!
JAGG-
Agreed. Brees would have saved his job. I’ll be interested to see how he handles the QB dilemma in Cleveland if he gets that job. I hope he does.
I hope he does too. Out of what I saw of Quinn and Anderson performancewise. It is all Quinn. He has great footwork in the pocket and extends the play. He didn’t have the maturity to handle this season. He wasn’t ready to handle a star. God knows we didn’t have any near Favre’s legend.
One more crazy comment before I get ready to watch playoff teams….
I think the only guy out there that may be willing to come in next yr, and that would actually SELL PSL’s and make Jet fans happy…
is BILL PARCELLS.
The guy is an ego-maniac, he gets alot of the credit for the MIA turnaround and the schedule looks tough for them next yr (I cannot imagine them 11-5 next yr). Does he take this one last shot (2 yrs max) to try to get the last coaching ring before he calls it a day? I believe he does look to see little B’s success, success that quite frankly has eclipsed his, and he misses the coaching and the guys. Im shocked this hasnt got more play in the media. MIA loses sunday and we get big Bill Monday (or shortly after?)
Probably wishful thinking, but Tuna or resign Eric Im on board with (not drinking yet)….
The jets players arent keeping their voices inhouse bcuz they want favre outta their house. I wonder why there not ripping mangini now that hes gone…..
No way Parcells is coming back to the Jets, not that I would want him here anyway. There is one reason he left the Jets, Woody, and thats the reason he will not be coming back.
I agree with your last post Sammy They should have inserted their foot when they thought about bringing in BRETT FARVE…THE JETS organization has ruined this team from top to bottom with firing of CHAD PENNINGTON… WHY??? not for his game play but for what he stood for as a leader,in the locker room,in the press, and as a player that other players could role model themselves after…FAVRE has not been even remotely the team leader and role model for this franchise…FOR a team that is looking to find an identity and the culture that we all read about on here HOW IS FAVRE the guy for that when he didn’t prove his self worth or motivation this season….FAVRE came into this season with a lack-a daisical attitude that no one can deny and his play on the field showed it because he wore out down the stretch…We can also agree that he was injured too but CHAD played through injuries also and was still shown the door,,,,AND how do you inspire a team with their playoff hopes on the line with the most pathetic pre game rally speak i have ever heard….
im tired of hearing about this “injury” foolishness. favre’s follies werent physically related…..never were…its his brain and desicion making! when we start loosing its “oooh, its because he’s hurt”…who isnt playing hurt today?? for god sake i can bet that torn bicep came on that missed tackle in the miami game, but the favre cult members are gonna tell you it came rrright before the 5 game skid occured, pathetic.
wanna talk injuries??? how about his replacement in GB, facing waaay more scrutiny and pressure than favre, who dislocated his shoulder with damaged ligaments, but still out performed #4 in the midsts of that injury, while facing waay tougher defenses, and dont bring up their record, you know GB’s defense is the reason they suck.
its like ANYTIME favre does something wrong its either someone elses fault or a mighty GOOD reason behind it. favre has had MANY games and stretches like this before, the man peeked 95-96 and for the last 7 years has done NOTHING! the guy has had some of the worst games known to man. not to completly bash the man, he has had some GREAT performances, while showing alot of will and wit, but he also has had some of the WORST games a qb could possibly have. And dont bring up that BS 13-3 season last year, the pacs had a joke of a schedule in the weak NFC, and took adavntage of teams, running a spread 4 wr formation all the time which created matchup problems. if you bring up 07, then im pretty sure you dont wanna bring up 06 and the previous years.
When we were 8-3, favre wasnt doing what he wanted to do, he stayed within game plan. So i didnt think this was a great trade when we were winning. i ALWAYS thought this was a sensless trade, i though it was a sensless trade since 06, lol. last time i remeber the jets playing the packers, we stomped a mudhole in them, a VERY lopsided win! i remember chad pennington picking apart a packers secondary with ease and favre getting picked off by the jets secondary..with ease, lol, as if they were the second coming of deion sanders, hahaha! i remeber after that blow out i was telling myself, favre WAS a good qb, but is waay past his prime and is still hasnt subsided his wrecklessness with intelligence, and with all due respect, that i would NEVER want him on my team….but leave it to woody and his%$#$ PSL’s here he is a little over a year later…
GangGreen/Ridinmyway/…
Good posts… but I want to bring another point.
Now that Clemens and Ratliff have been tutored by a HOF in Brett Favre do we keep them or do we release them?
Good points ridinmywave, Favre just started using the injury excuse when the team started losing. Notice how Jenkins, who had been hurt since the Oakland game, never made injuries as an excuse, he just kept playing. Favre was still able to throw the deep ball, he was just inaccurate and made poor decisions, there are no excuses for that, he is just a shell of what he once was, please stay away Favre.
Joe S…..excellent point on the offense……I thought I was the only one that noticed that……all the motions before the snap were gone there was no sugar huddle like pennington and clemens ran…..oh and by the way play action fake doesnt work when your qb sucks at it “favre” unlike pennington who was great at it……. It was completely different…..cant blame schotty all the way…..does anyone remmember last year when the jets were losing and pennington was playing poorly…..mangini would say in his press conferences Chad made some good decisions out there ….got us out of alot of bad plays……..did you ever hear him say that about favre this year??……Rex for head coach, Schotty for OC, clemens or ratliff for qb and if the offense stinks it up next year then get rid of schotty and find a new qb
Have these guys been ruined?
Was Mangini forced to name his son after Favre…I think not!
Nikolas,
I doubt that Favre put in that extra effort to tutor Ratliff or Clemens. I am sure he used all that extra time to study film and get caught up on the offense, haha. I’d say keep Ratty and KC let them battle out for the QB spot, because next years schedule is going to be brutal, better to find out what they have.
He named his children after influential people in his career I think Brett had thrown 6tds the week before. He was optimistic doesn’t mean he worshipped the guy or thought he was great for the system.
Plus his child was born on Favre’s bday. Kismet people. Maybe he believes in fate. If we can buy into KC’s daughter being blessed he could believe that.
hahahahahahaha! GET A LOAD OF JAMES THE INTERNET GANGSTER!..LMAO, I BET YOU LET PEOPLE HAVE IT WHEN YOUR ANGRY BUDDY. DELIVER A GOOD DOSE OF PAIN THROUGH YOUR KEYBOARD, HAHAHA, LAMES LIKE YOU MAKE ME SICK!.
but to keep this post relevant……nikolas to answer your question, we should definately see what ratliff and clemens can do with a nice core group surrounding, i hope they benefited from favre somehow and can utilize what they have seen from him and whatever advice he has given them, i dont see why this team cant be great next year with decent quarterbacking and thensome. we shouldnt put a lid on their capabilties, just because theres a select few bitter about favre not being wanted back…lets not speak out of emotion. i dont see why they cant excell with proper gameplan and tutilage. we have a good team, and look at how “decent” quarterbacking has done ex. bears, titans, vikings, bucs, and yes even the 49ers. so say let them battle it out and may the best man lead this team next year.
ridinmywave, do you see how foolish you sound?
Way to represent Jets fans.
ridinmywave… I am tired about all this injury to Favre BS!
Remember Chad throwing not one but two Deep Bombs to Santana Moss in the playoffs for touchdowns…. WITH…
A torn Rotator Cuff Injury!
How was Favre inury worse than Chad’s?????????
I really dont think that RATIFF or CLEMENS picked up an good habits from FAVRE this season…IF CLemens and RATIFF want to mentor some of FAVRE skills they need to go back to some old game footage…I hope FAVRE gets inducted to the HOF I really do he does deserve it…Shoot i watched some of his heroic comebacks on the NFL NETWORK every weekend…..AS a whole body of work meaning over his whole career FAVRE is a living legend…BUT TIME in the league,HIS age and demishing skills has brought FAVRE back to being an average quarterback…AND with this many years in the league you would have thought he would of learned some better leadership qualities by now….
JAGG, I get it, I know why. It was kind of a rhetorical question. I’m just saying that I don’t believe that they had to force a legend like BF on a coach like Mangini, even though I do believe he is an egotistical maniac, and who knows if he really wanted him or not.
its hard to lead a team, that refuses to have you as their leader.
dade county jets fan…. FINALLY!
Someone who actually watches all the games and knows what they are looking at!
With Rex Ryan and HC, his brother who knows the defense Mangini was trying to put together here finally geting it to work and Schotty for OC and Callahan for the offensive line… Ratliff at QB with Clements and Ang in reserve.
The Jets will WIN it ALL!
You can’t bring in someone who worn’t run a 3 – 4 defense! If you do we won’t win for another 5 years! We will need new personnel which will put the Jets in CAP hell for 3 years at least!
Take it with a grain of salt but I just read on ESPN that the Browns are very interested with mangini after his interview
Browns will be in the playoffs next season with Mangini at HC!
Comparing Chad with the Dolphins to Brett with the Jets is apples and oranges people… What you can compare is how one team (Miami) brought in totally innovative playcalling (Wildcat formations) and played to the strengths of their QB (short, high % passes to backs and TE’s)… While the other team (Jets) did the same thing every game, often out-smarting themselves by going away from the things that were actually working (running game; screens to Washington; quick slants to WR’S and TE’s)…
Did anyone notice any difference in the way the team played their last four games? The only difference I saw was in Seatle every ball was underthrown and against Miami every ball was overthrown.
Finally, pairing an ultra-conservative coach with the most reckless QB in the league is guaranteed to work 0% of the time.
joe S. i agree with the Ryan brothers. Sutton is a goner (well, he should be) and Ryan would be best becuase he has been the DC for the best defense in the league the last 4 years AND he runs a 3-4! Spags is a great DC but wed have to make a lot of changes and thats wat we already did this year! I think if we get another DE to repalce Kenyon Coleman who was a huge dropoff from last season and if Gholston actaully developes into the player he should our defense could be GREAT.
Also, correct me if im wrong, but doesnt marty schotenheimer go 3-4 as well? Chargers in 2006 had an amazing 3-4 defense (I know they had merriman and all of them) But we have JENKINS who wen healthy is the most dominant defenseive player in the league and a complete beast in DH, Calvin Pace is a good player as well, etc. Bottom line is we HAVE THE PLAYERS to have a GOOD/GREAT 3-4 defense.
I remember just a month ago 95% of the posts were about how horrible Mangini is and how the entire coaching staff must go.
Now everyone is in love with Mangini.
What a disorganized bunch of fans we have don’t we.
Also, skimming through the older posts – I agree with the comments that the offense had become ridiculously simplified in order to accomodate Favre. We simply became a different team after we got him. Everything that was in place went out the window. But you can’t blame Favre. You can only blame Woody for making one move (more stunt than sound football decision) too many. But lets not forget this is a business first. He sure did sell a lot of #4 jerseys…
Krista:
I believe Mangini commented (jokingly?) that he promised Farve during negotiations to name him Brett if he signed. I love Mangini, still do, but my stomach turned and I lost some respect right then and there. Like I said, he will be reminded every time he calls his son. Incredible ! However , he does name his kids after players that influenced his football life.
It is a documented fact that Farve never gave his understudy a single moment, not even a NY MINUTE, in Green Bay. I would LOVE to know how much “one on one” he did with BR/KC/DA. Dollar to a doughnut it was less than GB.
I blame my father…,
You can thank the Favre move move for this offense!
With Chad in the offense the Jets trained in all off season, tranning camp and in pre-season… The Jts would have a BUY in this seasons Playoffs!
NOBODY can convince me otherwise… NOBODY!!!!!!!!!
The Dolphins have that Chad Magic this season… the Jets didn’t!!!!
The Dolphins will win on Sunday!!!!!!
and the ignorance is getting overwhelming now………if you like favre and he’s your favorite player and he can do no wrong on your eyes…..then just say so! you are definately entitled to your opnion, your likes and dislikes….but i dont undesrtand the wreckless banter, you really sound like cult members (sammy g., lame james from TN, pete57, and there’s more of you that i dont remember)….
its one thing to simply defend somebody and make a point, but dont let your emotion drown out any logic you try to make. some of you are even starting to contradict yourself….judging from past posts. its to the point where it seems like you dont like dealing with “truth” and “honesty”. and yes sammy, its quite obvious the truth DOES hurt. and to be HONEST some of you sound even more ignorant than the ones claiming that Favre is the “worst” and “over rated” and “always sucked”. yeah that IS ognorance, but you are fighting ignorance with MORE ignorance, and you start to sound dumb. Dumb to the point where your throwing EVERY body else on this jet team, from management to practice squad, under the bus to defend your newcomer favre. to the point wher im wondering why your still blogging here??? are you even jet fans?? if you feel that he is not coming back, then there is nothing here for you to see, you guys just sound like a bunch of lawyers he hired. you cant make ONE post without expressing a love affair with favre and how everbody else sucks..i dont get it, arent there fan clubs or some $hit for that???
“Imagine you were Bill Cowher though, looking at the situation from the outside, you’d see a GM that you’d have to report to, who is supposedly “friends” with the guy he just stabbed in the back to keep his own job … would any veteran head coach who has earned his stipes want to answer to him? I wouldn’t …”
Bassett, your a great writer, and I generally agree with almost all of your ideas, but thats just dumb.
Friendship has NOTHING to do with this business. Tannenbaum and Woody made the decision together, not just Tannenbaum trying to keep his job. Tannenbaum wasn’t gonig to lose his job anyway cuz hes still done a great job for us. I mean theres no way you or anyone could possibly say that we don’t have a very skilled and talented team. And I dont understand how he was “backstabbing” Mangini by FIRING him. mangini lost the final 4 of 5 games and we got pretty lucky and outplayed in that one win against the Bills. When your 8-3 and your team finishes 9-7 you may not agree with the firing but you could atleast UNDERSTAND it and not call him a backstabber for firing a coach who let his team fall apart the final 5 games of the season against teams that just weren’t good.
Yes Marty Schotenheimer goes 3-4 as well, Fred!
If the Jet can’t get Rex Ryan… I would favor Marty as the backup plan… if he wants to coach again!
Rex Ryan will get the Jets a Super Bowl!
Remember, his Father ran the Jets defense in the 1960’s and in the last Jets Super Bowl win!
Rex Ryan will guarantee that the Jets won’t break the Rangers record for gap between titles!
you know your gonna see alot of posts and threads thats not in your messiah’s favre’s best interest, so why put yourself through the anguish. you either feel he wouldnt come back after people expressing themselves about his performance or feel that he shouldnt come back to this disgrace of an organization..blah, blah blah, then what is your purpose??
if you know football, you know the qb position is the most scrutinized postion on the team, the qb represents the team…with that said if we won the Super Bowl, alot you bandwagoners would be saying “look how favre took this team on his shoulders and brought them to the promise land” and basically take all the credit……but now that he flopped its………”why is he recieving most of if not ALL the blame”…when we were 8-3 analyst were saying favre should be MVP and how “he” carried the team while overlooking our run defense and how kris jenkins anchored them. but now when we sucked, its “oohh look at the defense, and the dropped passes(supposedly), and fumbles, and etc”…..thats the truth and harsh reality alot of you favre cult members cant deal with, i guess its..”only if favre, had better players and coaching satff around him, he’d be better off”….well, hopefully for our sake and your sake, that wish is finally granted, he can go to minnesota as he always wanted to or wherever that would make you guys happy, and show us what he’s made of…with the “right” people around him……..smh
everybody was saying 2 weeks ago that mangini should go hes gone and your bitching because hes out now ,thank god now lets get favre the hell out of here to hell with both of them something got to give, and i say fire the whole dam d-fence what a joke and they actually took there paychecks the following day bunch of bums that was unreal against the fins ,every year its something im over it.
and to second what a couple of you are saying…….these fools better in the front office better sell their bodies and do whatver it takes to get Rex Ryan here for next year, i honestly dont just look at him as the best candidate, but the ONLY candidate for this job!…i like spags but i dont know of his familiarality with the 3-4. spags can manuever the front 7 quite well, but rex ryan has done this for longer, can utilize the front 7 just as good..if not better, and made the ravens secondary(while playing a bunch of second stringers* no mc callister etc.) look extrodinary, and his utilization of ed reed the past couple of years is crazy!…it seems like he’s every where at once, so like i said before…….. for god sake….and gholston’s sake, lol…get rex ryan, the most fierce and firey of the candidates out there.
I’m sure Kerry Rhodes would love to see Rex Ryan on the sidelines, too.
ridinmywave,
The only game you can blame the Defense on is the Denver Game! The only score that got out of hand. The Jets were within 3 to 7 points late into the other games. That is all you can ask of the defense… To keep you in the games till the end!
If the Jets had any offense at all in the last 5 games… they would have been 4 and 1 and in the Playoffs:
The Offense and in particular Favre stunk up the place!
Last 5 Games:
Nov 30 DEN 34 @ NYJ 17
Dec 07 NYJ 14 @ SF 24
Dec 14 BUF 27 @ NYJ 31
Dec 21 NYJ 3 @ SEA 13
Dec 28 MIA 24 @ NYJ 17
hey, the team didn’t work because of the failure of fundamentals, not because Brett threw the ball everywhere. At the end of the day it was way too easy for defenses to key in on the old man and disrupt him because they didn’t have to key in on the running game, coles, cotchery, the tight ends, anything else that takes attention of the QB.
that’s a game plan problem. that’s not a QB problem.
Coaches are responsible for game plans.
sammy, if it werent for your chin, favre would have nowhere to rest his family jewels…..i have no clue what your making refernce to……obviously you have nothing to offer, you cant refute ONE thing i say one these posts, so you just go on with your wreckless banter that has no relevance….further more you prove my point every time you make a post
Of course defenses key in on the old man. he doesnt want to learn the playbook. all of us bloggers can probly gameplan the same 15 plays when ur qb is dumber than wood.
Joe, i wholeheartedly agree with you, but i decided to keep my mouth shut because you cant agrue with ignorance. some of these people actually had the nerve to bash the defense after the seattle game, as if it was a highscoring game, lol. so after a while, it gets comical, and instead of arguing facts, i just sit back and read how foolish people can sound. i guess the defense was the MAIN problem in the MIA game too right??lmao..oh no heres a better one…it wasnt “chad just basically making great passes and dissecting the defensve pressure” to which he deserved respect for……it was “look how the jets defense cant cover and tackle anybody” hahaha, i mean you guess reaaallly cant please everybody huh?lol but you made good points, but the favre lovers dont see it that way
if the coaches forced him to, in that seattle game, Favre would have handed the ball off 50 times.
Handing the ball off don’t take no smarts.
He’s not supposed to figure out that it’s a snow game and you’re supposed to run the ball like hell. That’s coach’s job right?
*sigh*
It’s 3rd down and 1. Well lets send in a pass play 10 yards down the feild. Nevermind that we have an offensively made of 1st and 2nd rounders that cost us a mess of money to get.
Is that Favre?
I’m not in love with Favre. But it’s my understanding that its the coaches job take the peices you have and you make it work. And it’s the organization’s job to provide the proper complimentary peices to a QB like Favre. He doesn’t make personell decision.
Could he have played better. Sure.
But when you played against the giants last season, you had to put 8 men in the box for Jacobs. You had to double-team Plaxico. You couldn’t key in on Manning and the passing game.
In football, if you don’t respect the fundamentals, you don’t win. Just ask the champs.
* LOL*
lgs
obviously no one expects to run the ball every time, but when the pass game is utilzed, im pretty sure its made note of to make smart and simple descions, ecspecially when playing in snow. i for one did not like the coaching job done this year, but at the same time what can you do if a player doesnt always follow protocal and fall in line with gameplan, bench him????
wow what a picture of a god?
Someone needs to be hit over with a cactus to have the slightest ounce of respect for him!!
ridinmywave,
I agree. And like I said, I have my criticisms of Favre. But you seem to ignorin the fact that the ball shoudln’t have been thrown 40 times in the snow. It just doesnt happen.
Only the Jets. And this I promis you. Even Mike Martz would not throw the ball 40 times in the snow. It’s not complicated. It’s fundamentals.
Now I think by the final game, the D had just given up. But I watched every game over the season and I can tell you that I watched that defense get worn out by the end of games. Not that they were great. But what defense can be good when you’re passing the ball all over the place and not pounding out the yards.
Ask the 2000 Ravens how important a good ball pounding offense is to staying upright. Not that I like Sutton. But there’s more to it than Sutton and poor motivation.
Igs play calling did suck, but 10 of those attempts were in desperation in the 4th qtr at Seattle.
The defense was tired and B Schott should be fired he did scramble to change the O for Favre. If you look at how often we ran the 5wr sets early in the year I originally thought it was for Favre to build relationships with recievers. I hate the package, but Favre did love it and if Schott asked Favre what made him most comfortable and he said the 5wr set I’m not suprised it didn’t go away.
None of that is an excuse to stare down recievers, force throws, and miss open recievers. No one player had more to do with our demise than Brett Favre. With Jenkins injury coming in second.
You know there were so many intangibles for the demise of this season we cant rant and rave typing til the tips of our fingers are callused….FAVRE was forced on Mangini and he had to simplify his offensive scheme not his fault,,,IN game play calling and not adjusting to what the other teams were doing MANGINI’s fault….COULDN”T bench FAVRE because of the front office not MANGINI’s fault, horrible defensive scheming and not adjusting MANGINI/DC’s fault….bringing in FAVRE that late in preseason FRONT OFFICE’s fault….FAVRE seperating himself from the rest of team, making poor decisions with the football, and lack of leadership and motivating the team HIS FAULT all great quarter backs do this without even thinking about it….NOT playing gholston or finding ways to use his raw talent coaching staffs fault….THE DROP OFF in play in the last 5 games of the season is a combination of all of the above…DID MANGINI honestly deserved to be fired HANDS TIED BEHIND HIS BACK WITH FAVRE and MANGINI not asserting himself on the side lines or to the FRONT OFFICE I think he had a 50/50 chance of getting fired…WE as JETS fans need to come to the realization that the avalanche that hit us at the end of the season was a combined effort of all parties involved OWNER,COACHING STAFF,and ALL the PLAYERS on this team…IF we learned anything this season is that THIS WHOLE JETS ORGANIZATION NEEDS A MAJOR OVERHAUL….
Gangreen, I couldn’t say it better myself.
But I’m going to leave yall with this:
Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals.
Ganggreen I agree with you, but isn’t that sad considering we were 8-3? I mean it all went down hill fast.
Bassett,
Is there anyway to post the comments from the few days after the Tennessee game when the Jets were 8-3 and leading the league in points per game? Would just love to read what the fanbase was saying about Favre at that time, see how many wanted Chad back, and the praise for Woody and Tannenbaum on the trade, etc..
JAGG i agree with ya but also if we look back at even the games we won HOW convincing did we win…I know all games are going to be blow outs but most games were nail biters win or loss….AND with all the offseason distractions and media criticism during the season I dont think this team was ever truely focused…NOT an excuse for what happen because the coaching staff should have pulled the reigns back in on this team and had them mentally prepared esch week but in my oppion I really didn’t see a well focused highly motivated team as a whole…WE can blame the coaching staff, media, and players as a whole for that…LET us learn from this years mistakes and hopefully the new coaching staff can undo the damage that has seperated this team, get them to play with passion and fire, and move forward and NOT look back at this circus show we called a football season….
kd bart,
well if you want to see my epxressed sentiments about favre and when we were 8-3 after the tennesse game, no need to bring back old threads….just simply scroll UP to my previous posts..that should sum it up…..thats just me speaking for myself
From the second half of the first Buffalo game through Tennessee this wasa very fine focused team. When Denver hit them in the mouth early, they fell apart.
I think I may have flatered him with praise like “even Favre played well” or “Only one turn over”. I still stand by my comments that Chad couldn’t have made the throws Favre did to win that game.
The TD pass that Favre threw to Coles in the back of the end zone in the Tennessee game is a pass that Chad could never make.
Also, someone stated up above that you can’t blame the defense for the 49er game. Please. They gave up over 400 yards that day and twice let the 49ers march down the field after the Jets tied it.. You got to come up with a big stop.
KD BART since you come on here to criticize everyone who has an oppion, speculation, and or advice HAVE a SPINE and YOU tell all us what was the down fall of this football team because by the way to judge everyone elses oppion you must be GOD and know it all….
It was a combination of many factors. Poor QB play, passive pass defense, run defense fell apart , timid and playing not to lose coaching, abandonment of the running game before some opponents showed they could stop it and poor preparation in general. It was a massive failure team wide. While Favre has his share of blame, could he had played better? hell yes but to blame it all on him is ridiculous. Mangini’s decisions in certain situation showed he lost faith in his own team. The team failed in so many ways over the last five games. They went into the Denver game believing all they had to do was show up and they would win. Denver hit them in the jaw early and this team never recovered.
Man, this front office has been a joke for so many years that it is hard to imagine it not being a joke.
You just can’t fire a coach every 2 or 3 years, consistancy on the sidelines and front office equals consistancy on the field.
Look at the Steelers, how many coaches have they had in the last 30 years…three! and while they do not always win, they compete and they are consistant.
AS you can see my post above i agree with many of your valid points but DENVER hitting us in the mouth causing us not to be able to recover I dont buy that for a second IT was only one game,we didn’t lose any players to injury, and if one game can have that effect across the whole JETS team DENVER better bottle that STUFF cause i know many teams will be on the market to buy it….IF one game can have that much effect on the JETS players we better go out and get some players who can play more than 1 game a season…
and YES THAT WAS SARCASM….
What pissed me off more than anything the last 5 games was how timid Mangini got as a coach. The 4th and 2 in SF and the 4th and less than 1 on the 2 in Seattle decisions still piss me off. You’re playing 4-8 and 3-11 teams and you don’t think you can make it? You’re letting them dictate the game rather than vice a versa.
to throw my thoughts out there…i wouldnt say it is “all” favre’s fault. but i would argue hard that it is about 70-80% his fault for our demise. and you know whats funny??…as i stated before, if we won it all……it would be all because of favre and his play, due to media hype and some baised fan base, and no one else on the team, who probably helped contribute as much or even more than he did would be given the credit they are deseverved. but now with the losses, he cant recieve as much criticism as he would praise??…….something aint addin up. its sad, but the reality is thats what comes with the territory playing qb, ecspecially when your name is brett favre and you put your name sake and legacy ahead of the well doing of your team, which he has done repeatedly in GB and now in NY. and i have heard many GB fans attest to that

AMEN….i have been posting the same since the F—-N seattle debacle…. blame favre all u want on this site…. bash him…..whatever….. HE WAS THE HIGHEST RATED QB EITHER IN THE AFC OR THE LEAGUE (i forget what the stat said) AFTER 11 GAMES!!!!
the denver game should have been a wake up call for the D….it didnt F—-N happen. The next week in SF, that opening drive wuss punt was awful…and as bad as we played ON DEFENSE…it was tied late 3rd and the D let us down AGAIN!! and the 4th and inches in seattle was a joke…..
favre sucked the last 5…cant hide the stats….but AGAIN…. the playcalling sucked…..and the loss to miami, although it didnt matter in the end…how the hell are we throwing 40x in a game that was never more then a 7pt deficit.
it was a group effort to lose 4 of 5…..a total group of wuss’s effort. KDbart is one of many who get it….100% of the time.
anyone know if we were interviewing for the HC job today and if so did any new leak out yet?

favre update from peter king….
spags interviewed today i believe

I found a comment of mine BEFORE the titans game:
hank/naples, on November 18th, 2008 at 11:16 am Said:
The jets are not going to change their game because they know they are finally hitting their stride and getting stronger the last three games. They spent $140 million to run the ball and stop the run, this is their signature. If our defense can keep their passing game reasonable and Farve can continue to be a game “manager “ and stays within the game plan and not regress to slinging it, we will win!!!
Favre leads this franchise to only it’s 16th winning season, but this season was a failure all attributed to him? The Jets needed to win 4 of their last 5 games to win the AFC East outright. Denver was better prepared and beat the Jets soundly. The other 3 losses were all Favre’s fault? That’s just a ludicrous conclusion. The defense was terrible against the 49ers, the coaching was just absolutely awful against the Seahawks and, yes, Favre was terrible against the Dolphins. However, how about a defense that let up two huge passing plays (the flea flicker and Fasano TD) on just terribly thrown balls. Also, how about a coach that does not blitz one of the QB’s most susceptible to the blitz in the NFL? How about the blocked punt? Or, the dropped certain INTs (the one Barton dropped was a pick 6).
Favre deserves lots of the blame, but Mangini (whether saddled with a player he didn’t want or not) coached not to lose down the stretch. I seem to recall from my childhood a meddlesome owner that forced his manager to accept a superstar prima donna, it seems that the ‘77 and ‘78 Yanks with Reggie Jackson, who Billy Martin despised, seemed to do okay. (I know Favre was older, past his prime and football is far different, but Reggie was also a way more distracting influence and was prone to prolonged slumps that hurt the Yanks during the regular season…Martin was still able to manage effectively and win 2 championships, hating Reggie the whole time).
Since I believe that Favre will retire, I think all this pointless debate will end soon. But, if I have to vote on who was more at fault for the Jets late collapse, I blame Mangini. And, that’s what this debate all comes down to.
Lastly, I lived through the 1986 collapse, which was an awful collapse. This collapse was worse because the ‘86 collapse was caused by injuries, not incompetence (whether by Favre or Mangini). The ‘86 collapse hurt more, however, because we knew that the Sack Exchange’s window for a Super Bowl was closing due to age, injuries and character flaws. But, here’s food for thought Joe “Must Go” Walton had a .482 winning percentage (53-57-1) and Eric “I was unfairly saddled with Favre” Mangini has a .479 winning percentage (23-25). The more things change, the more things stay the same with the Jets.
Fonz,
Thanks. Since I was Vegas at the time and didn’t have any chance to read the site at that time, I was wondering what people were saying at that juncture.
ridinmywave, on January 3rd, 2009 at 3:04 pm Said:
Ridinmywave’s comments at 3:04 are just a perfect example of how a lot of the jets players and fans felt. And that feeling is 100% jealousy. The fans and players were getting their panties in a wad, about how Favre was going to get all the credit if this team was successful, and no one could handle it. All the old school jets were feuled with jealousy of Favre getting the credit, and the special treatment that he was getting from the coaches. They had to have some of the glory. It doesn’t make a difference if he’s a 1st ballot hof, or that he had 3 mvp’s. They needed their glory. The jealousy and the bitterness lead to Favre not being welcoming, and the continuing (public) criticsm that is now directed at Favre. The story feeds upon itself, and Favre has not said a single word. Just shows how Favre can make the media players and fans absolutely crazy without him contributing one word to the drama.
The Jets have been overly sensitive about Favre from the beginning. And that part of the Jets base and fan base is a disgraceful bunch of natural born losers.
Favre is still 22-10 the last two years. Is that the sign of a washed up QB?
And the Jets are 13-19 the last two years.
Put that in your pipe favre haters.
Favre retire, or go to Tampa Bay.
When your teammates through you under the bus, they’re no longer your teammates.
throw*
Wow Teddy Atlas that great football mind trashed the Jets, now I really feel bad.
If you think that was bad you should hear what Michael Phelps said about the team today too. Gimme a break, they’ve screwed up many things, but I’m not taking the comments of a boxing coach who is friends with the former head football coach, seriously.
Sammy, how about the 22 INT’s whats the excuse there?
agree with atlas and the post. Mangini was scapegoated. Favre was a mistake.
sackdance……if you knew that Yankee season….you’d know that Billy sat Reggie……..
I doubt Mangini had that choice. If he did but chose not to, then the fault is his…..but if he didnt have a choice then the blame is management’s
SackDance99
You are wrong about the 49ers and the Seahawks game.
The defense held the 49ers to 17 points until close to the end of the 3rd quarter
no excuses except I can think of about 5 of those INT’s that were tipped or bounced the wrong way.
No one is denying that those last 5 games were the worst of his career.
Didn’t the QB’s for the jets last year have 19 INT’s?
10 TD’s and 9 INT’s Pennington
5 TD’s and 10 INT’s Clemens
19 TD’s Pennington/Clemens = 4 wins
22 TD’s Favre = 9 wins
Need I say more?
Sammyu G:
You ahve totally misconstrued ridinmywave’s comment:I know delusional peo[ple fabricate reality to their liking but this is beyond delusion it is absurdity.
Also, not all of us are born losers, we have been conditioned by Jet management for over four decades to feel this way and “WE ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE”. We are not delusional, we are realists.
not TD’s I meant INT’s
Hank, if you choose to not take it anymore, I highly recommend rooting for the other team in New York (Giants). Because if you do what I suspect and stick with the Jets, you’re goin gto be taking it for many many years to come.
Oh nevermind, Ratliff is going to be the starting QB next year. Shall we put the champagne on ice? Shall we start talking of a subway superbowl again?
49er game:
Twice the Jets tied it up.. Twice the Jets allowed the 49ers to go on a long drive on the next series for points. The second time, the 49ers twice converted for first downs when they had first and 20. Defense did not rise up in the situation.
sammy g,
you need help, and still prove my point. not only are you irellivant and speak with no purpose besides sounding like 12 year old fan club member, but you (as always) cant refute logic. and that my friend, is a sign of insanity, not only do you speak with no purpose, your existence here is with no purpose. you continue to contradict yourself, you say the o line, d line, recievers, running backs, and secondary suck, and with better coaching this could easily be a 13 to 14 win team(i saw when you posted that a while ago) with favre at the helm…but a 4 win team with ratliff or clemens.
you are not a jets fan.
you dont like whats being said here.
your favorite player is not in our future plans..nor anyone elses.
you speak nothing but negativity about jet fans, players, mamagement, and anyone who is not brett favre.
you speak as if you are his best friend angry at the flack recieved by this dissapointing season.
so unless you are brett favre himself, your pure existnce to this world my friend is of no purpose, knowing the man doesnt know who you are and could care less if you left this earth tomorrow.
so why do you persist to post meaningless comments that are of no knowledge, relevance and importance to anyone here?
basset…….(even though its impossible)……no more posts relevant to brett favre!! ! put sammy out his misery and let him go in peace, lol!
ridinmywave, so anyone that disagrees with your points can’t be a jets fan and irrelevent? That’s not insanity that’s ignorance and stupidity.
Sure I’ve been critical to Favre, he had a horrible season, but I’ll defend him from idiots like you because he’s not the only one that sucked this year, the entire team and the coaches contributed to the inevitable collapse of this team.
But if you would prefer to have a chat where everyone with agrees with each other and you can sit around in a circle to circle **** each other, by all means have fun.
Everybody loves to second guess. Half of these people were probably in line buying Farve jerseys as soon as he signed. When Chad got hurt in a game last year some people cheered. The part that stinks is that the Jets did Chad a favor and cut him instead of waiting and trying to trade him. Training camp was already 2 weeks in and they didn’t want to screw him any more then they already semi did. They took a gamble and it was looking pretty good at 8 and 3. They got away from what they were doing to get there and the coach needed to step up and he didn’t. I wouldn’t have yelled if they kept him but I am not crying because he is gone. As long as the next coach is not a Rich Kotite clone then I am good. The defense was so bland. How many times did I have to watch the DB’s play off the ball when it was 3rd and 5. The whole reason for the 3/4 defense is so you can come at many different angles and positions. I did not notice much of that during the year. So stop with all I told you so’s. We do not know what was going on in the locker room and we will never know.
ridinmywave:
Sammy G tells me to go root for the Giants if I can’t take it anymore. His advise is to run away and he calls himself a loyal fan? His convoluted logic is irrational and he has the nerve to call us losers?
I commented that “fans” with his mentality are resposible for our sorry ass state the Jets have been the last four decades and he questions why I’m blaming Farve for that?
I’m telling you, ridinmywave, Sammy G IS delusional and suffers from a “battered wives syndrome’ if he wants Farve next year.
Peter King,
Just said on tv that Favre told Tannenbaum before he left not to count on him for next year and the jet’s should go in the direction they need to go.King also said he talked with Favre last nite for 30 min look’s like he’s retiring…………………
sammy,
anyone who disagrees with my points cant be a jet fan??
…no one said that
i remember sayin that you contradict yourself…..or in lamest terms…
you usually disagree with yourself…dumb@ss
i actually pointed out how you do that…and you still havent refuted that case yet….
matter of fact i, guess you shed light on more of your sensless ways.
so im gonna go out on a limb and “assume” that you are a jets fan….you simlply being a fan is contradicive, simply seeing through your statements….you like nothing about this team……but your a fan??…..hopefully you find your purpose on earth sooner or later, god bless.
lol nice try again hank.
You said you weren’t going to take it anymore, and if you read what I said, I would hope you have the capacity to understand that if you’re not going to take it you would be better served being a fan of a different team. But the reality is that you ARE going to take it, you have no choice if you’re a loyal fan.
hank and ridin are both a disgrace to us real jets fans. Both of you are just Chad Jello Puddington pop worshippers.
TC, if thats true lets pop the champagne because that would be awesome, but it is from Peter king so..
@ TC
is this so??? well at least we can all go on with the rest of our lives, and i respect favre for thinking respectfully and making note to management in a private manner
Can someone please explain to me how the Jets do not have a proven winner as head coach ready to take over. If they hire a assistant or a college coach I may stop watching NFL football. Woody and Mr Mike said in the press confernce that they wanted to build on the already built foundation. They said they needed someone to “take them over the top”. When this was said did anyone think of Rex Ryan or Steve Spagnolo???
This organization is dreadful…..
To top it off , I was walking in the city on monday with a Jets hat on and literally a couple laughed in my face….
im sorry sammy, but i dont think anyone is ridin with you with the “us” statements when you talk of fans…….from what ive seen of your posts and responses to your posts…..no one respecets you
Well to all of you in Ridinmywave’s “us” train, I’m sure you will enjoy the coming years of sub 500 seasons.
I’m sick of watching failure year after year.
At least you are still having fun with your second favorite team the Miami Jello Puddington’s.
The only thing more depressing than the last five game of the Jets season is this pathetic “dissing” contest over who’s a true Jets fan.
craig, you cant live in the past and off namesake, all coaches started somewhere and everyone knows that rookie coaches do not spell demise and that was obvious this year and many years before. these are men who have been around the game and enough talent to kno how to manage a team. i understand your frustration, but instead of going off what names your familiar with and popularity contests, do research on these guys and find out the pros and cons for yourself. and what our personel lacks and how that can be accomodated. the jets went the popularity and money route this past offseason and look how that turned out.
Dan:
Obviously , I believe, none of us were inside the locker room to know but, I can tell you that Mangini considered Atlas a close personal friend and often went out together. If ANYONE CAN BE HONEST, IS HONEST AND KNOWS THE “INSIDE” SCUTTLEBUTT is Teddy Atlas. He also had the confidence of several of the players. And if you listen to what he said, it is definitive that Farve was the bull in the chinashop and Mangini was forced to pay for all of it, by a digracefull owner.
whos dissin?
ridinmywave:
My point is that i would have kept mangini unless you were going to get a proven commoditiy….he was not ray handley or rich kotite.
How many rookie coaches have won superbowls?
I really am not looking forward to experimenting with a unproven/untested coach.
It is not about popularity, it is about a proven track record of success. How can you want anything less?
i fully understand and agree. not sure of winning superbowls, but rookie coaches have made it to the big dance. the coaching was questinable and scary this past season, but i also think mangini being fired was a lil too hasty. i DO feel there was no true back up plan, and that they felt that they coul lure cowher but woody’s head was in the clouds. but at least rookie coaches arent really THAT much of an experiment compared to rookies players. the foundation is somewhat laid down already, and we have a bunch of seasoned and talented vets on our team, they know what they have to do, but just as long we get someone here to put them in the best posion to do that.
and what i meant by “popularity” was for example the possibilty of hiring shanahan, which i was not a big fan of. i realy dont hink his style would address any issues we had last year, but hopefully all works out for the best next year.
Why did my last post not post??? I spent a lot of time on it :(
Ridin
How can a professional organization make decisions with it not being thoughtout?
Then again it is the same organization that sent out the bill for the playoff tickets this year with the wrong dollar amount.
The Jets to me are like an embarassing family member that I am stuck with for the rest of my life.
If it says it is in waiting to be reviewed. It thinks you’re saying something naughty. Happens sometimes.
Ridin
I am not a Shanny fan either…His record without Elway is not that great. And his teams over the past 3 seasons have had December meltdowns.
Craig:
How can you be embarrassed of the team that you are a fan of? Do you think that Falcons fans are embarrassed they their ex-QB ran a dog fighting business…or a receiver that accidentally shot himself in the thigh? If you are so embarrassed, I suggest picking another team.
Krista to answer your questions:
1. Because they consistantly suck
2. Yes
3. No because they won the superbowl the previous year.
craig:
lol@ the playofff tickets…..thats embarassing
woody comes of kinda weird to me and im not too keen on his methods, but tanni did a good job with the FA last offseason, even though dangling a lil bit too much money out there.mangini did NOT do a good job last season, but the front office and stupid new york media made him a scapegoat, and i guess they figured, through fire mangini we would think that they were cool and meant business………..wrong, lol.
Krista,
I can not speak to what a Falcons fan is thinking….
Thank you for the tip…after 30 years I will now choose a new team to root for…..I wish I would have thought of that years ago.
kd bart:
I totally agree. I can count the times the defense actually stepped up this year on one hand. I didn’t understand why every team we played didn’t go for it on 4th and short every time, because it would have been a guaranteed 1st down. I mean, we weent from being the 3rd best running defense in the league to not even being able to stop the run a little bit. And the prevent defense, scared to lose defense that just allowes teams first down after first down got really old. I got a lot more sick of watching our defense than I did Favre throwing interceptions.
i guess were one year early to be saying by to head coaches, lol……the free agent caoching list for 2010 looks like this…dungy, cowher, shanahan, and homgren
One phone call from Favre to Holmgren and you can take Holmgren off the list for the Jets.
Ridin
I agree Mangini did not do a good job this year. But I would have retained him if you didnt have Cowher or the ghost of Vince Lombardi to coach next season. Mangini seems to be respected in the NFL ansd according to ESPN the front runner for the Browns job.
serious question……well not really……….who would you guys rather have?? laverneus or plaxico??
PB is a better WR….LC is a better shot.
craig:
yeah, his motivational skills and confidence in his team were not evident which led to some really bad and questionable calls, but lucky for him these are things you develope and learn from as time goes on. as far as preperation and wit, i think he’s good, and will turn out to be a good coach. im not gonna lie, he never came across as a real passionate person….but more of a nerdy disciplinarian, but thats a personality and nerve issue. you live and you learn, the guy is smart and he’ll learn from it.
Ridin
well said.
I would add that I beleive when you win people do not question your demanor….If the Jets won the Superbowl The media would have said Mangina had a steady hand. Not getting too up or too down.
When Torre won his championships they said he was cool, when they lost they said he lost his fire. I dont buy in to that too much.
Peter King reports that Favre told Mr T on Monday that the Jets might want to go in a different direction at QB next year.
Wow, my first time here and probably won’t be back after reading some of this tripe.
It’s all Favre’s fault, LMAO are you kidding? I saw several of the games this year and the coaching had to be some of the worst I’ve ever seen in the NFL.
Now your players are all proving to be backstabbing whiners to the media too, worse than the Cowboys. No wonder Pennington did so well after he got away from this horrible franchise.
Hopefully you’ll release Favre so he can go play somewhere else too, why would anyone want to play for the Jets with players and fans like this? I now see what the Same Old Jets means, more like Same Old $#!+ different year.
Favre fan??
It wasnt all his fault but when the guy throws 9 INT’s and 2 TDs in the final 5 games and misses the playoffs…he is going to take some heat.
By the way I did find 1 (one) thing here worth reading, that the Jets have only had 17 winning seasons, in their entire history?
LOL
->he is going to take some heat
“some” heat? You’ve got to be kidding, these freaks are ready to hang him despite him leading the Jets to some of the best wins you’ve probaby ever had. This team will be right back at 4-12 again next year, couldn’t happen to a nicer group of guys. /SARCASM
Lets be honest here Favre fan…The guy was brought in to win games. I am not sure if you saw games but the team carried him to alot of the 9 wins they had. He played really well against the Rams, Cardinals and the Patriots….He played like crap for the rest of the games. The coaching and the defense didnt help but he played so awful int eh final 5 games he is going to get killed. He didnt build a 17 year fanbase with the Jets.He get no leash here
I think you forgot about the previously undefeated Titans Drew. A game that Jello Puddington only could have wet dreams about winning.
The 3 games I mentioned were his best games. The Titan game was won by our running game and our run defense. Alot of QB’’s could have won that game….Favre played well but it wasnt his best game. But he did play well.
Go look up the pass from Favre to Coles for a TD in the titans game with 3 people covering Coles.
Not many NFL QB’s would have even attempted yet completed that pass.
VS. Tennessee
25-32 for 224 yards, 2 TD’s and 1 INT
VS Rams
14-19 for 167, 1 TD and 1 INT
What are you talking about Drew?
True…but it didnt win the game. The Jet run D totally took the Titans out of the game. Plus we saw Favre make a few of those special throws but down the stretch they were non-existent
Drew, whatever. The fact is that Jello Pudding pop wouldn’t have won the game for the Jets. Not a chance in hell.
I stand corrected….We did score 40+ against the Rams but Favre played okay….I would like to sub the Rams game for the Titan game….lol. Point still made though. He played really well in 3 games Sammy
I didnt want to have Chad lead this team and was happy to get Favre in August. I was more happy thinking he learned the offense and we were going to get things rolling after the Titan game. But it all went downhill and Favre’s awful play had a lot to do with it. This should now be considered a one year project and everyone should move on. Favre is not going to learn a new system and if i was a new coach i wouldnt want him on my squad at 40.
Another day, and more of the same!!! It’s all Favre’s fault, Boo-Hoo-Hoo, I Hate’em, I Hate’em, I Hate’em, I Hate’em!!! You all sound like mindless morons!!! Sammy G, Is once again correct!!! If you love Chad soooo much……..MOVE TOO MIAMI!!!! The fact is our defense is what failed us this year!!! I need only point too the “Seattle Debacle”!!! Not 1, or 2, or 3, or 4, but 5 practice squad O-Linemen, and how many sacks did we get? ZERO!!!! Favre was pretty bad down the stretch, no hiding that fact, but too put all the blame on Favre’s shoulders is simply put, FOOLISH!!!
Doesn’t anyone remember that Mangini named his son’s middle name after Favre? That’s pretty serious star-f@#$ing. Would Mangini have named his son after Favre if: He was resistant to bringing Favre in in the first place? He felt pressured by ownership, management or Favre to abandon the ’secure, protect the ball, intelligent approach’?
I don’t think so.
Who’s putting all the blame on Favre?? The defense was bad the coaching was bad (even our boy Westoff’s special teams) were poor down the stretch. The problem is you have constant Favre fanatics who think Favre is God and had no fault in our collapse. Here’s the fact…Favre played awful in the final 5 games (throwing some of the horrible INT’s) in the process. He was brought here to win games. He failed and we should move on…..And any coach taking this job will think the same way
The middle name was something Mangini did with all his sons. (which is gay) B Belichick and R Harrison have a part in his other sons name… so the name thing dosent matter.
Well at least we have Ratliff next year to lead us the way to another 5 win season.
This team was a 7-9 win team without Favre. I was hoping the Favre of 2007 could take us to 10 or 11 wins
Once again, Sammy G is on point!!! You all have Ratliff being the greatest qb ever!!!! Our savior Brett jr.!!!! Give me a break!!! Favre, no matter what ypu say, is our best chance at something special!!! Not because his name is Favre, but because HE’S BETTER THEN JR., OR KC!!!
The Favre of 2007 had the packers of 2007 thus 13 wins. The Favre of 2008 had the Jets of 2008, with worse D, worse O-Line, definitely worse wide receivers, and most importantly pathetic coaching.
He is clearly the best QB on the roster but does anyone think Favre is going to learn a new system for another coaching staff?? The project is over boys. Favre can go fish or hunt or whatever these people do in Miss. and we can move on with our new coach and QB….Whoever they are
The D and the O line were not great for GB…The WR’s were better….Green Bay was picked by every publication to go 6-10 or 7-9 in 2007.The got 13 wins becasue Favre played great and they got lucky with R Grant off the Giants PS…. Stop not Sammy
Look at what happened to the Packers with virtually the same team. Rodgers comes in and wins 6 games. The D was stacking the box to stop the run, and not worrying as much on the deep ball.
Jones has a pathetic season last year, but with Favre the D respected the long ball and didn’t stack the box, and look at the result Jones is a pro bowler now. Just the last month when Favre was struggling, the the D’s started to stack the box, and wow it must be a coincidence, but Jones had a horrible last month.
He’s a game changer, even if he has a subpar game.
But after all of this backstabbing favre will not return, and the Jets will continue to suck.
I was so surprised at the comment this was only the Jets 17th winning season, I went and looked it up, and sure enough, only 17 winning seasons, in 49 years!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Jets_seasons
And you’re bashing a Hall of Fame quarterback, that just gave you one of those precious winning seasons too. This is freaking hilarious, except for Favre, that guy deserves better than being stuck with these sour losers. Wonder who they’ll blame next, they’ll have to find someone cause this franchise is a joke!
At this point, I believe even Favre wants to move on. He won’t be back.
TJ got better because the Oline was greatly improved. Where were teams respecting the long ball for the Jets?? They didnt complete a long pass after the Arizona game…And that was on a 4 and 1 play action??
And Favre wasnt just struggling the last month he struggled all year minus a handful of games.
Plus not to burst your bubble but Rodgers throws a better long ball at this point…Just ask the Packers.
Rodgers was 0-8 in come from behind wins.
Rodgers had better stats, but that doesn’t mean anything unless you play fantasy football.
It comes down to one thing, and that’s winning games.
->Plus not to burst your bubble but Rodgers throws a better long ball at this point…Just ask the Packers.
You don’t have a clue what you’re talking about, I have the stats from a Wisconsin paper right here:
http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/36986949.html
The average distance of Aaron Rodgers’ 28 touchdown passes was 15.6 yards, almost 10 yards below Brett Favre’s mark of 25.2 last season. Favre’s average was 26.9 in 2006, his first season under coach Mike McCarthy.
Favre fans can continue to love Favre. I thought it would work out and he let me down. Maybe he didnt let all “Jet” fans down but at 8-3 I wasnt expecting 2TD-9INT. I wasn asking for a HOF showing in the final 5 games. Just get me a couple of wins and he played awful. Show me a fan who thinks differently and I’ll show you a jerkoff
Thanks Favre fan for your 2006 stats. Fact is Rodgers throws a better long ball…
I didnt say Rodgers was a better winner Sammy….I said he threw a better long ball and ther Packers WR’s stated it publicly.
Rodgers throws a better long ball? lol I can’t even respond to such a dumb statement.
link me up with that one Drew.
It was shown on ESPN about 30 times this year during the whole Favre-Rodgers comparison. Even Driver stated that Rodgers threw a better long ball.
no way in hell Driver said that.
no heresay, I need a link.
Your a smart guy Sammy…Try google. Greg Jennings, James Jones and Driver said it on Sunday countdown early this year….no heresay.
After you find it you might want to rephase how dumb my statement was
If you are correct, I will write a full page apology to you.
But I still need a link….
drew is right driver did say it earlier on in the season
The truth is no matter what Favre decides too do, he’s screwed!!! If he retires, everyone will pegg him a quitter, and if he returns, he’ll have to deal with all this crap!!! A true no win situation!!! Welcome too New York Brett!!! The lunitic fringe makes me want too puke!!!
LOL at this Drew guy, not did I already PROVE Favre’s average TD pass in Green Bay was TWICE the yardage as Rodgers, Drew acts as if he’s got Rodgers sitting on the Jets bench when he’s got jack freaking squat.
Man am I glad I never wasted my money on a Jets jersey, the only thing worse than their pathetic franchise is their idiot fans.
Ed you proved nothing with that statement. Link it.
Thank you Ed L…..I dont need a full page just for you to realize that I know what I’m talking about….
Link coming
http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/31961869.html
i still love brett and i cant blame him for everything…. but i was lucky enough to be at the 6td game….
as much as i am dissapointed i really have to say that all shortcomings aside i really enjoyed seein him in a jet uniform…
just wished he coulda kept that brett magic goin…
The link shows Werner tellong Favre what Jennigs said. The Countdown show had Jones, Jennings and Driver stating the same thing
The only thing I act like is I thought I was getting a better QB than what I got. I wish I could have blind love for the guy. He didnt play well.
->He didnt play well.
Cause your team sucks, duh. 4-12 last year, and only 17 winning seasons in 49 years! 17 counting THIS year LOL.
Favre has 16 winning seasons HIMSELF!!!!
Is that not hilarious or what!!!
First of all that’s not Driver saying anything, its Jennings.
I guess I’m still surprised that Jennings said that, but he was probably looking to do some sucking up to his future QB.
Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn here, & then, Drew!!! lol!!! But seriously way too back up an argument!!! That said, I still think Favre is better then Rodgers!!!
Sammy…Do you read well?? I stated the link quoted Jennings making the statement…The Sunday Countdown peice had Jones, Jennings and Driver. All stated Rodgers had a stronger arm and DRIVER said Rodgers throws a better long ball. What do you want me to tell you? In the long run it dosent mean anything but when you post that my comments are dumb just except when your proven wrong…No apologies need
I read well, believe me. Hooked on phonics worked for me. Even though your statement is more credible than before, I will still need to here or read that Driver made those comments before I believe it.
WOW i see were all back to debating the FAVRE issue again.HOw many times can we all post the same thing a diiferent way..YOU all argue just to ARGUE GET A PUNGHING BAG or take a pill…FAVRE was not the savior or the total demise of this team….MANGINI wasn’t the total demise of the team, the offense wasn’t the total demise of this team, nor was the defense the total demise of this team, the front office made some good choices and some bad choices this offseason..HOW bout we post a dart board and throw darts at all of em… I’ve watched this team shoot themselves in the foot for 26 years now did u really expect anything different this year…AND as i true fan I have dealt with the good and the bad every year so you grow numb to it after a while..THIS TEAM (FAVRE INCLUDED) was built to win now and when you try to rush success without continuity BS like this happens…TAKE OIL AND WATER SHAKE IT ALL TOGETHER WHAT DO U GET>>>OIL AND WATER NO CONTINIUTY…YES We played good the first eleven games, yes we played horribly the last five…WAS everyone to think with all the new players, coaches try to work them into the system,FAVRE having a short camp, and the media blowing every little detail into a epic novel that this team would not collapse….In the preseason everyone had the JET winning 9-10 games and possibly making a play off run…THE first half of they played up to our expectations and struggled the second half of the season THE PRESSURE TO WIN NOW is what caught up with the JETS as after they got to 8-3 everyone had them going deep into the playoffs and a possible superbowl appearence…DO we really think that these expectation were rational for this season with a team that lacked consistent play even in the games they won…Come on people lets get real for we got to the expectations we thought we would get and then got over confident with selfish thinking that a newly revamped team could keep playing to that level all year long….AM i disappointed yes but the reality is that they did do what most of us expected before the season started……
->Even though your statement is more credible than before, I will still need to here or read that Driver made those comments before I believe it.
I already gave the stats, Favre’s TD passes averages almost twice the yardage of Rodger’s. And like you said, you can’t believe ANYTHING coming out of Green Bay these days, those players are terrified of that GM after what he did to Favre and now all kiss up to Rodgers since he’s the GM’s boy. He’s the GM’s lover, even, according to many. Yes, his lover, check into it if you doubt it.
I agree with you.
I’m just not so sure about the GM’s lover part. I heard Pennington was trying for 1st dibs on Rodgers.
Oh no don’t tell me Pennington isn’t married, doesn’t have a girlfriend either, and even has a male roomate he admits he has a “deep relationship” with too?
And the rumors surrounding the Packer GM are even louder, and have been around for years.
Sammy G and FAVRE FAN why dont you guys get a room together talking about all the gay issues on a football blog….YOU two sound like husband and husband already with all the arguing u 2 have done all night,,,
gang, first of all been married for 15 years.
Second of all we haven’t been arguing not even once, so i’m not sure what you’re talking about.
sammy g and FAVRE fan my appology I didnt type that last post my drunken idiot friends did…again my appologies to u both….
as shown above my posts are lengthy and of substance again my appologies to u both….
lol no prob
THIS IS STRANGE. IF FARVE WAS FORCED ON MANGINI WHY DID HE SAY HE WANTED HIM FOR ANOTHER SEASON?
WHY DIDN’T MANGINI QUIT IF HE DIDN’T LIKE THE FAVRE SITUATION IN THE FIRST PLACE?
The truth is as always somewere in the middle…
Favre Fan your beloved legend is DONE!! This season was a disaster and the person most at Fault is Bret ****ing Favre. Pennington was the better QB this year and the Jets made a huge mistake thinking Favre still had anything left. When things were going good all Favre did was screen plays and short slants things we have seen from Pennington. When Favre decided to do the things he was brought in to do he was awful. Favre is a selfish person who knows that if he throws 10 terrible interceptions no matter cause that one that sneaks through ie the Titans td will be remembered as unbelievable yet the other same throws that get intercepted cause their so risky will just be disregarded by his blind legion of fans. You tell me they were 4-12 putting a blind eye to the vast improvement by their FA but what about the year before when they were 10-6? Oh yea you probably didn’t know that.
Atlas is right about Favre throwing the ball over the field, he’s even right about the PSL’S and how favre screwed mangini
So are we now picking ahead of the Chargers since they beat the Colts?
One thing I learned while skimming through these posts. Previously , I couldn’t understand why Schotty escaped any criticism, in fact he is being interviewed for th HC spot. When Farve came in , and the offense was scaled down, Schotty got a pass , and gets at least another year.
Sammy G…
Stop posting Spam. You have littered the site!
ridinmywave, you are a joke. You contradict yourself, and I believe you need to take your meds.
Favre had a poor season but, you have to put a great deal of his performance on the coaching. The same coaching made Chad Pennington look like garbage, the year before. Only the team knows who was responsible for the inept offensive play-calling but, Mangini was ultimately responsible.
Teddy Atlas should stay to his sport. He is being loyal to Mangini, who thought enough of Atlas to get him involved in the players’ training. He obviously wasn’t watching the games.
Igs {Is that Favre?
I’m not in love with Favre. But it’s my understanding that its the coaches job take the peices you have and you make it work. And it’s the organization’s job to provide the proper complimentary peices to a QB like Favre. He doesn’t make personell decision.}
It would help if the most important player on offense the QB could learn the entire Jet offense. Favre could NOT and did NOT!
The coaches had to change the entire Jet offense to make Favre understand it! Well… the Jets… the other 10 players had to learn the Green Bay offense just for Favre.
This is NOT Green Bay… this is NY!
These are Facts and most on this board just don’t understand what happened here!
{JustAGreenGuy, on January 3rd, 2009 at 4:35 pm Said:
I think I may have flatered him with praise like “even Favre played well” or “Only one turn over”. I still stand by my comments that Chad couldn’t have made the throws Favre did to win that game.}
Maybe he could NOT make that throw! But Chad makes different throws like what he did on Sunday against the Jets to WIN GAMES!
And Chad would NOT make the MORON type INTs that FAvre did on SUNDAY!
Which would I want! If you read all my posts… you know the answer to that.
Just watch Chad today as the Dolphins beat the Ravens!
Probably all true but why is Teddy Atlas even bothering? Is he sour about losing an easy gig?
He really should just keep his mouth shut until he finishes his Hooked On Phonics, Vol. II.
What a tool.
Chad also threw a last-minute potential tying TD pass INT to seal the Jets’ win in Week One.
Remember that?
I’m happy for Chad and will actually root for the Fins for the first time since Super Bowl VI but we’d been down the Pennnington road before, and most people agreed that an upgrade was necessary – not-necessarily Brett “Gary Cooper” Favre, but something more to actually stretch the field.
Hard to have a consistent running game with NINE “in the box” against you. Remember?
Brett ….. Brett Ratliff.
->Favre Fan your beloved legend is DONE!! This season was a disaster
No it wasn’t, although hearing a Jet fan claim that a winning season was somehow “a disaster” is quite hilarious LOL.
Favre had another winning season (almost tying the total for the entire Jet franchise himself), made another Pro Bowl, had a 6 TD game, and helped the Jets get rid of Mangina. Sounds like it went pretty well, I don’t understand why the Jets fans are all hating on him, but I guess 50 years of losing will give you a warped view of the world, if you didn’t already have one to begin with.
This is an example of how People don’t understand what they are looking at on the Football field:
{Sammy G., on January 3rd, 2009 at 8:49 pm Said:
no excuses except I can think of about 5 of those INT’s that were tipped or bounced the wrong way.No one is denying that those last 5 games were the worst of his career.
Didn’t the QB’s for the jets last year have 19 INT’s?
10 TD’s and 9 INT’s Pennington
5 TD’s and 10 INT’s Clemens}
_____________________________________________
You happen to leave out that the Jet QB’s were running for their lives last season behind that offinsive line. Chad only took 3 step drops and was running for his life!
Come on people! Watch the games and pay attention!
Favre fan- I’d take Mangini over that washed up has been anyday. He couldn’t lead a thirsty horse to water. Everyone should have realized this when he blew an NFC championship game the Giants tryed to give him. I would rather have watched 12 million burn (or given to charity :)) than payed him. He may have added to his legend, but to me he will always be overrated.
{Sammy G., on January 4th, 2009 at 12:18 am Said:
I think you forgot about the previously undefeated Titans Drew. A game that Jello Puddington only could have wet dreams about winning.}
I bet you Chad gets the chance against the Titans here in the playoffs this season! We shall see what happens!
The Dolphins will win today!
Chad told Phil Sims that his arm was at 50% strenght the last two seasons.
This season it was at 100%!
See people there are reasons for everything!
Chad as QB for this Jet offense would have won 12 games and the Jets would have had a Buy this week!
FOOLS!

Favre had a poor season but, you have to put a great deal of his performance on the coaching. The same coaching made Chad Pennington look like garbage, the year before.}
Another poster who doesn’t understand the game of Football!
Without an effective offensive and defensive line…. Everyone Else looks like CRAP!
Jets QB’s were running for their lives last season 2007 and the Jet defensive could not stop the run!

Chad also threw a last-minute potential tying TD pass INT to seal the Jets’ win in Week One.
Remember that?}
Yes I do… Great play by Reevis! Defenses get paid also!
Chad if you remember brought the Dolphins back and put them in position to win that game! The CB made a great play to win that game!
My last post for Today!
The Dolphins will win today! Rookie QB’s 9 times out of 10 lose their 1 st playoff game!
Flaco is a Rookie QB and he will make mistakes today!
Chad will NOT make any mistakes and he will make a few of those MAGIC throws that I have enjoyed over the years and continue to enjoy!
The Jet fans who ran Chad out of town will FEEL the pain this week!
when did i contradict myself junior?………i mean, james?
Joe S.’s syntax looks awfully familiar.
subwayfare, What are you trying to say??????
I don’t post very often. I only post when I am pissed off and have something to say.
Favres performance and Mangini getting fired, plus what Chad did this season with that bad Miami offense has really pissed me off!
why can’t everyone find the middle on this, which is that the Jets made Favre an offer he couldn’t refuse and put themselves in this exciting but ultimately failed position…and then Brett isn’t that disciplined and although led us to some exciting games, also threw some of the worst interceptions I’ve ever seen. Why is only one side at fault here? I ultimately blame management. They wanted the guy, and they got him.
