Bent, I thought D-Rob and Vilma were obviously not 3-4 players and would have to be traded or otherwise re-deployed. I wanted Ngata at NT and would've experimented with D-Rob as an undersized DE. I had no idea what his contract situation was, but I thought he was still marketable and could've been traded before the 2006 draft for additional picks. IMO, Vilma was the real value, he could've been traded for a high pick or picks, but the Jets' fan base would've howled. I thought that the defense had to be made over immediately, like what Parcells did with the Fins by getting rid of Zach Thomas, Taylor and others. Instead, we had to watch Vilma and D-Rob fail and decrease in value.

Guys, let's get real here. Chad took a 1-15 team and led them to the playoffs and a division title with very little talent around him. For starters, Miami's wide receiving corps are a joke. Come on, I don't think Peyton Manning could win a Super Bowl with Devon Bess and Ted Ginn Jr. at receiver.

Chad was hurt in 2007 and he would've led the Jets to at least 11 or 12 wins with an improved o-line and running game this season.

Trading for Favre was the WRONG move. I said it before it even happened. There were too many factors going against Favre and his gun-slinging, brain-dead decisions would make fans wish they had Pennington behind center.
I'm a lifelong Jets fan and it made me sick to my stomach to see Chad celebrate a division title at Giants Stadium as a member of the Dolphins. Now the Fins have a QB for years to come and the Jets are left in the cold without a coach and quarterback.

It wasn't worth it.

Pete57, I agree totally! I feel like the team played like Mangini coached, with no enthusiasm or sense of urgency. Once the Favre hype faded, it was back to the same ol' Jets. We need an aggressive coach that will show some sort of emotion on the sidelines. I think that the players like Mangini and respected him, but more so as a friend, rather than a coach. Just like the Favre hype wore off in New York, the Pennington hype will wear off in Miama! No playoffs for them, and depending on our HD and QB situation, maybe no playoffs for us either, but I am hoping for the best.

It wasn't all the wild cat. Chad carried them the second half of the season. I have no idea what you guys saw, but their running attack looked horrible to me. As much as Chad dipped and dunked his 6yd gain was 3 more yards than they were getting per running play every time I saw them. Chad was the reason they beat us. The Wild cat is a popular word in the media and on espn, but wasn't used as often after teams learned how to defend it around week 8. Give Chad the credit he deserves.

That being said Dolphins got lucky. That team totally overachieved.

Yes Krista, I think most Dolphin fans see a bright future, but I believe they will be very surprised at their season next year, especially with a much tougher schedule. Also, they have several key UFA this year. The Jets need a HC who can light a fire under people and be aggressive in game when it's called for. If we get that coach we will make the playoffs. I do not think the Phins make the playoffs next year.

Pete 57:

Exactly. I'm glad that Chad is no longer our problem. And whether Favre comes back or not, at the most it will only be for one more year. However, Chad is in with the Dolphins for the long haul, that is if he doesn't get hurt...NOT TO MENTION, they completely exhausted their playbook...nothing from here on out will be a surprise. The element of surprise is gone! Next year will be like watching the 2006 Jets all over again, and if we're wrong, I'll be really surprised!

Krista, the best part of the Dolphin situation is now they have inherited our problem: They just made the playoffs and lost miserably in the 1st rd. Chad is their QB and played well during the season, against the weakest schedule in the league, but was exposed against a good team. Next season they are forced to start Chad, at the expense of the QB they drafted. The team seems to love Chad, and if they replace him at some point with Henne, they could possibly face a revolt. This looks awfully similar to the 2006 Jets.

Fonz:

Not ignorant.

And are you sure you didn't get the names mixed up and said Manning when you should have said Pennington and vice versa?

Let me quote you... "What Chad did in one year Peyton couldn’t fathom doing in his entire career"...YOU MEAN LIKE WIN A SUPERBOWL??? You must be kidding...or confused. I mean, what did Chad do that was so great in one year? Besides compile the majority of his yards running that Wildcat formation, and throw 4 interceptions in possibly the biggest game of his career?

You call me a Favre worshiper? Someone has a man-crush on Pennington.

Colt McCoy when he comes out will be a 4 year starter with an over 60% completion percentage and he doesn't dink and dunk. I want him to be our next franchise QB if we he isn't on the team yet.

Krista,

Chad deserves every award he gets! He was more valuable to this Dolphins team this year than Peyton was to his Colts. What Chad did in one year Peyton couldn't fathom doing in his entire career.
