Good post. I agree, Marty Schottenheimer and Jets QB’s: Clemens, Ratliff and Ainge (and Mangini) have been handcuffed by Favre.

PS: I don’t see a need to draft another QB in rounds 1 – 4. Late rounds okay. My opinion we’re stocked with QB tallent already and have too many needs elsewhere.

Jerry – If the Jets release him, he will have to negotiate a new deal and will not be contractually entitled to the $13m any more. No way anyone will want to give him $13m, agreed, but other teams will definitely have interest at a lower amount. The question may come down to whether Favre is prepared to pay for an amount that low.

QUESTION….

How did New England find QB’s like Tom Brady and Matt Cassel????????????????????????????

The gave an unknown low draft pick QB a chance to lean on the bench and then gave him a chance to play in the regular season!

In both cases in NE it was because injury. If the injuries didn’t happen then these QB’s are a spec in the tolet after you take a dump!

Give Ratliff, Clements, Ainge and a new drafted QB a chance to battle it out for the starting QB Job in a system they already know. Brian Shott’s real system…. NOT this on the fly simple crap they created just for Favre due to his learning handycap!

Let the spec in our tolet rise to the top!

NO RETRED QB’s allowed on the Jets!!!!!

I forgot to add second rounders:

Tannenbaum has been known to trade up (Revis, Harris, Keller). I hope he does again to grab ILB Brandon Spikes projected as a high second rounder.

If Jets stand pat with the 53 overall pick, I really like:

- CB Victor Harris
- ILB Dannell Ellerbe

I kinda like:

- SS Patrick Chung
- CB Mike Mickens

Finally, I’d settle for a really fast wide receiver or offensive tackle.

Alex,

The Saints wait ’til free agency begins (February 27, 2009), so they can avoid giving Jets a second rounder and thus Giants a first rounder. After all the trades and coditional picks have settled, Jets will have a selection in rounds 1 -7.

We can use DT, WR, RB and QB (Depends on who you’re talking to). Yet, I’m hoping for an Inside Linebacker to play opposite David Harris or Cornerback opposite Revis or possibly Safety to upgrade Elam.

I like ILB’s James Laurinaitis and Rey Maualuga; CB’s Malcolm Jenkins and Vontae Davis or S Taylor Mays… And possibly a runningback like Knowshon Moreno or Beanie Wells.

Concerning Saleries, I think Favre cost $13 Million against the cap.
