The jets for Whatever reason seem to be sold, on Schott… Jag would seem to be a backup to Callahan or Dabol , if Mangini can wrestle of one or both of those guys away….This is mean but real, this could merely a way that Tannenbaum brown noses his boss. Tanny shows support for keeping on Favre, by bringing in one of his former coaches. Sell ,sell,sell those PSL’s

What about Mark Sanchez? I’m not sure if he announced he’ll be coming out this year, but he’d be someone I’d be interested in. He has pretty good size at 6-3 and he can run. He completed 66% of his passes this season, and had a monster game against Penn, not to mention 34 TD’s vs 10 ints for the year.

Vick was so exciting when he first came into the league. He’d make a couple of sensational throws but then the dumbest throw you ever saw to end a drive. I grew to hate watching him play. I’d like to see him try out as a wide receiver (not with the Jets), but (even though he’ll have been working out in prison), I wouldn’t be surprised if he isn’t in shape.

I like Freeman too. I think he should take another year in school and then could be a day one pick. Don’t be so sure that Stafford and Sanchez are coming out either.

Jags is interviewing for the OC job, really, and that’s assuming they give the HC job to Schotty.

I’m sort of okay with Schott and Callahan staying in their current jobs, depending on who gets brought in as the new HC (Rex Ryan or Spags).

Unless they have a no-brainer lined up for DC, I don’t see Schott as a HC, with Callahan or Jags as OC. That’s not an upgrade in my opinion.

JAGG, I tried to find Vick highlights and the only throw on the run I saw was about a 30 yarder, which was wobbly. I know he had great arm strength, I just don’t recall him flicking it 60 yards on the run to his opposite side with any pace on the ball. For a brief period, Vick was the most exciting player in football since Barry Sanders, but because of his running ability…he was a joke as a QB. I may be old school, but the best QB for throwing deep and accurately on the run that I’ve ever seen was Elway…nobody has been even close since him.

I agree with JAGG, Flacco has every bit as much raw ability as Cutler and he’s taller and stronger. Ryan, who doesn’t have Cutler’s raw ability, just finished the best rookie season in NFL history. So, I’m not sure that Cutler’s all that unique.

I don’t disagree with all the knocks on Vick and Freeman looks good, but Vick could throw 60 with a flick of his wrist. I watched him do it on the run he just couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. Vicks HS film was amazing because he was smaller, but he could just whip the ball like it was nothing. He is also an idiot.

JAAG, not sure Vick had the same ability to throw deep, in stride and on the run like Freeman did in the clip or like Cutler does now. No doubt Vick has the arm strength. Plus, Vick’s too short to be a pocket passer and his release wasn’t quick. That’s why Vick is saying that he’s coming back to the NFL as a WR. Freeman is over 6-5, so he’s a little like Flacco, but with better mobility (Flacco, on the other hand was way more accurate and threw fewer picks, albeit against lesser competition). Also, what I liked about Freeman is that he was looking to pass first, something Vick would never have done. Freeman’s just a prospect, however, not a first day guy, unless he comes out and blows everyone away at the Combine, which is possible.

He had one play where Law didn’t bump Moss and that was the touchdown.
Jay Cutler is more like a once in every 3 years player not a life time.
Peterson hasn’t broke the 2,000 yard mark and led the league in non QB fumbles.

Draft the BPA regardless of position. Unless you can fill a greater need.

BTW Dbrickshaw only gave up 2 sacks this year. Not very bust like.

rb’s and qb’s should only be drafted in 3rd round or later, unless there is a chance to take an adrian peterson or jay cutler type player. guys with once in a generation talent. otherwise, top picks should be spent on positions that are less hit or miss like lineman and linebackers–these positions cost a lot less too. (plus we still need a franchise LT to replace d’bust . . .)

i might be willing to give schott one season with a real o-line and a qb who knows his system.

that’s pretty much the other side of the coin that makes me ok with firing mangini–he had this year with his 3-4 personnel, mostly healthy, and he proved not to be a great defensive genius. he also makes some really stubborn decisions about the db’s–that series where he had ty law covering randy moss one on one without a bump at the line was particularly damning.

short of hiring rex ryan, anyone have insight about potential DC who would keep a 3-4 in place?
