  1. Always thought there was something nonsensical about the “Cowher would be the coach if Woody hadn’t left the country,” story. Seems more like Cowher never had any interest in coaching the Jets, or any other team, this year but essentially dared Woody to overpay him and give him too much power. Pass. Smart move.

  2. Cowher was just on Boomer and Carton and he stated that the Jets never even called him. So much for our push to get the best guy available. As Carton was saying, you have to wonder how much control Tanny wants since he doesn’t want a major head coach.

  3. They talked to Cowher’s Representative….

Carton is spinng this! He has selective hearing!

Carton was the Ahole who started the Favre thing this summer! How did that move work out??? A Disaster… Got Mangini Fired!

Why couldn’t Cowher wait a week for Woody to get back from his trip??? Because he doesn’t want the pressure of coaching in the NY market. That was a con job by him so who doesn’t get bashed by NY Jets fans when he comes into NY each weekend!

Hire Rex Ryan already and lets move on!

Spags will FLOP as a HC! Rex Ryan will get the job done!

  4. Reposting a comment I made yesterday that nobody responded to:

With Jagodzinski risking his job to interview here, is there any chance he could end up as an offensive coordinator candidate? Obviously that will depend on the head coach, but he does have experience (including with Favre in 2006 – when he was awful – in fact).

I like the Alex Gibbs connection. In the cap era, the fact that Gibbs can get an NFL line out of cut-priced players is unbelievably valuable. I wonder what JJ could do with a high priced line? If he could pass on tips that led to similar success, maybe he could even groom the likes of Turner and Hunter to fill in for Faneca and Woody when they get too old, which would free up more money in a few years to get defensive playmakers or a big name receiver (or franchise QB, perhaps).

  5. bent: callahan is something of a zone blocking scheme guy too, so he could stay on with jags. and so is shannahan! . . .

my real fear is that they would hire this guy to placate favre. i’d rather just cut our losses and move on.
