hey subwayfare,

you got a point. but if the head office can’t make up their mind about anything how can they make their choice?

i mean they brought Mangini to do something, than they forced Favre on him, put a lot of pressure with the “we must win now”, than throw him out of the window and you think they would have some vision.

i remember the stupid episode with PK. they also threw him but had no alternative.

there is no plan. they have no clue. this is why we never win anything.

A lot of the coaches being interviewed have had success in different systems with different philosophies. That doesn’t automatically mean they can’t adapt but that’s what my interview process would be trying to sort out. What do you think about the team as presently constructed? Could you win with what’s here? Why? Why not? What would you change? Looking at the cap, how do you see changes you’d like to make playing out with those restrictions? What kind of staff changes do you think are required? Who would you want to bring in? Why? Etc., etc., etc.

by what you say Schottenheimer should be hired and Spagnulo not cause he doesn’t interview well !!!

what i say is look at results. basicly your results + exp’ are your resume like in any job interview. you won’t hire someone who talks bla bla bla if he doesn’t show a record whould you?

so what i’m saying is you should interview, don’t get me wrong, but only quality.

as someone who is interviews a lot at his job i can tell you two things:

first, i always know in advance what kind of character and resume i’m looking for

second, i pick the best 5 resumes and call them in. only when i know for sure that non is right , only than i keep on interviewing. if you interview too many you are garnted to make the wrong choice.

it looks to me that Woody/Tenenbaum are looking for a jewel. it just doesn’t work like that in real life. woody took a gamble on Herm and Mangini. it’s time for a proven persona – Billick, maybe Shanahan

and all this “listening to many ideas and views” is crap !

I think Jags is a different case from Petrino and Saban. I think he can be compared more to Coughlin in that he came up through the NFL, got his head coaching experience at BC, and then returned to the NFL. Both Saban and Petrino spent a lot more than 2 years in college. Jags has only been out for two years and it seems obvious that he misses it and prefers the pro game to the college game. Can’t say the same for Saban and Petrino who seemed more driven by ego.

lol, Green Duck, you make smart Jet fans cringe. The interview process is where you find out those things. It’s not the other way around. How do you learn about these traits without meeting the person? The media or word of mouth? That would be moronic. Meet every viable candidate, lay out their credentials, and choose the best fit. Why would you possibly narrow your list down to the 1-2 people that you THINK fit your team and ignore everyone else? That’s what Leon Hess did in 1995 and it was a disaster. But I suppose you appreciated that he had a plan.

have a ” F coaching combine” ??? :)

if hope Woody isn’t running is business like that. this is embaressing to all of us.

dont’ think they had any clue when they hired Mangini, when they fired him and don’t have a clue now.

Woody, i know you dont’ read this gig, but if you did i would ask you this: what is your goal? what kind of team do you want to see? what system do you prefer?
what’ more importnat for you: backround on O or D? 3-4 or 4-3? nfl or college? rookie or experianced?

remember woody, if you bring the opposite to Mangini he will have to build the squad all over again !

only when you have some idea that you can interview people !

INTERVIEW REX RYAN OR BILLICK AND HIRE THEM !!!

one more thing – how can you judge a coach by a F intrview? you should look at words like experiance,leadership, stats, vision and not a F interview

Just like the Jets calling on Meeks for an interview…LOL Why not Tom Moore… INDY’s offense wins more games for them than there defense does…Once again @ss backwards and looking for a coach to bring back the TAMPA 2 deffense after we just rebuilt for the 3-4…Not getting the big picture of this move unless they are just looking for a coach off of a team that wins more then loses each year…
