watch he wins 11 games next year

  2. avatar Mortimus says:

No way. Just further evidence that the Browns are one of the worst run franchises in the NFL. Had JAX or STL gotten him then I would have bet the over on 10 wins.

  3. avatar BigKatFan says:

ok. Now I’m very afraid of the browns.

  4. avatar Great Scott says:

Have the Browns hired a GM. If not they are doing things ass backwards. The correct way to do things is to hire the GM first. Even if you don’t like Tanny the Jets are doing the coaching search the correct way.
I heard Crennel may stay as DC. I wonder how this will go over with the players.

  5. avatar Liam says:

I hope he does do well but I frankly don’t think this is the best situation for him. I think he would have really benefitted from a year or two as an assistant so he could have truly reflected on the things he needs to work on as an HC. If things don’t go well in Cleveland he is going to be in a tough spot, and lets face it there are plenty of reasons to think they won’t (defense stinks, key players are head cases – edwards, winslow and rogers) and his QB has I think started two games in his NFL career). Ironically, Cleveland’s 3-4 was very similar to ours in the second half- no push on the QB and terrible defensive backfield.

I just think this is too soon, as a coach in his second time around he is prob only going to get 2 years to really fix cleveland, if it doesn’t work out he is screwed. He will be two time fired as HC and only has one year experience as a defensive coordinator.

  6. avatar Mel31602 says:

Great Scott, no they have not hired a GM but it seems like Pioli is out since he didn’t want to work with Mangini and his demands were too much. I heard the same about Crennel but apparently he was well liked in the locker room. I don’t think the fans will be too happy though. And it must be odd for Crennel for his pupil to be his new boss.

  7. avatar junior says:

too bad he couldnt take gholston with him

  8. avatar me says:

    junior…dont u mean GHOSTon?

  9. avatar James in TN says:

LOL!!!!!!! The Detroit Lions of the AFC!!!!! Cleveland used to rock, now it will suck!!!!!!!!!!! Who gives this putz a 4 year contract!!!!!!!!! I love it. One less team to worry about for the next 3 years in the AFC . I say 3 because he won’t make it to 4 years. I hope we get them on our schedule, lol.

  10. avatar Liam says:

And thus the “PROCESS” begins in Cleveland. Dawg pound, getting no pressure on the QB and leaving receivers open all over the field is. . . part of the PROCESS

  11. avatar junior says:

    ghost man actually

  12. avatar Dean says:

I don’t think its a horrible decision to hire Mangini. I wanted Mangini gone from the Jets like the rest of you but remember, Mangini was not fired for his record this year or his overall record the last three years, he was fired because of the way Jets collapsed towards the end of the season. I think the Browns right now would be happy for nine wins even if it did not guarantee the playoffs next year.

  13. avatar Joe S. says:

I am happy for Eric and was NOT in favor of him being fired. In fact I was shocked!

It is being reported that he has a say in who will be the GM and in Personnel as well!

Well Mangini was run out of NY….

Now he will get the Browns into the playoffs as early as next season.

What will you all say then???? What?

Rex Ryan for HC of the NY Jets! THE SAVIOR!

    Jets better hire Rex ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. avatar ronnie says:

maybe we convince him to trade derek anderson for kellen clemons and have anderson and ratliff compete for the starting QB job.

  15. avatar James in TN says:

    I’d rather trade Ainge.

  16. avatar JoeMustGo says:

At the rate he evolves, it will take Mangini another 3-4 years to become a quality HC. Whatever he learns during the season never seems to be applied during or between games. His “process” is too inflexible.

  17. avatar Doug from Long Valley says:

James, you are consistent if nothing else. Best wishes to Eric and his family.

btw, my buddy in real estate said Eric was renting in Harding NJ, maybe now he can buy in Cleveland.

  18. avatar john r says:

i hope he does well. i cant wait til they beat us in the playoff next years

  19. avatar Drew says:

And when the Brwons win 9 games next season, their fans will be happy. The Jets will win 5 and continue into the abyss.

  20. avatar Bent says:

All: note that the above “Drew” is not the Drew that usually posts here.

If either of you could pick another name, it would be appreciated.

We already have an Ian and an ian, as well as about 12 Jeffs!

  21. avatar James in TN says:

We have too much talent to not be in the playoffs next year. We get a coach that has a set and a longterm QB and it is full speed ahead. We only need to make the right decision. I am glad we are taking our time. I would rather find the right coach than find a coach right now. Too bad though for Rob Ryan. I hope he changes his mind about teaming up with Mangini. Why continue with losing franchises?

  22. avatar Joe B. says:

Who the hell is trading us anything for Erik Ainge?

  23. avatar James in TN says:

We need some new footballs, and Mangini being an ex-ballboy could really seal the deal.

  24. avatar James in TN says:

Ainge for 12 new NFL footballs is a bit much but we could throw in a Kicker.

  25. avatar jay says:

why the hell did we ever pick ainge in the first place him and ghost man are a joke

  26. avatar GANGGREEN says:

Here’s the kicker Mangini get fired from NY goes to CLEVELAND with his hand picked assistent coaches on offense and ROB RYAN from Oakland and posts more wins next year there than the JETS do…Look at Clevelands roster this is a team that just needs direction and has the talent to win now…Woody better bring in REX RYAN next year and win at least 10 games cause if he doesn’t Manigini will in Cleveland and it’ll be like DEJAVU all over again… Remember we cut Chad and he went 11-5 in Miami…Mangini goes 10-6 next year in CLeveland to again stick it in Woody’s and MIke T’s for cutting the wrong guy at the wrong time…

  27. avatar JustAGreenGuy says:

James- we are a losing franchise. How many playoff wins since Parcells left? 1? We only win in years where we have a weak schedule.

  28. avatar GANGGREEN says:

JAGG we had one of the easiest schedules in the league this year and didnt make the playoffs Next year will be even tougher schedule wise to make a playoff run…New coaches, new QB,and a hole bunch of positions we still need to fill-WR,CB,LB,DE’s,and QB Were in for a long season next year ….

  29. avatar James in TN says:

JAGG, i can’t fault that logic, but with a new HC and our players we can win.

  30. avatar luke says:

Current management wants to utilize the LARGE investments the team made last year…Faneca,Pace, etc. It makes no sense for them to bring someone in who wants to gut the team and build..Billick would be able to get the most out of this group while retaining Schottenheimer and hopefully firing Sutton..they have the talent to compete and we all know they play best when expectations are low

  31. avatar LMP23 says:

    Justagreenguy-

It was a pretty weak schedule this year. ‘Nuff said

  32. avatar JustAGreenGuy says:

I know it was a weak schedule and we went 9-7. That is a winning record. Hence my statement that we only win with a weak schedule.

  33. avatar ramble914 says:

Actually I think we’ve had 2 playoff wins sinse Parcells. 1 against Indy in 2002, and 1 against San Diege in 2004.

  34. avatar UKSteve says:

Congratulations to the guy, I wish him and the Browns all the best.

  35. avatar JustAGreenGuy says:

You’re right I forgot about Indy. We looked really godo in that game. Then the Raiders killed us.
