We shoulda hung on to Rickey Ray, he lights it up in Canada and he's a proven winner, at least give him some reps. The guy just wins and is a great escape artist. Maybe holds the ball too long but has a hell of a touch. Anyway not gonna happen, soooo id go with Favre again if it can all be worked out. Nothings really going to change until our defense starts making stops. We worked a long field it seemed for half a season. No good with our little cap gun offense. Hope the new coach has the good sense to turf Schottenheimer and Sutton.

The only thing that Florio failed to mention was, why Mangini was fired.

After an 8-3 start, the coaching staff forgot how Pro football is played. Our defense, with the same players we started the season with, forgot how to stop the run and decided not to apply any pressure. Our offense, was barely able to put together one good drive per game and it usually it was the first one. There were no coaching adjustments to stop the landslide. Zero!

If Favre or Jenkins was hurt and could not play up to full potential -- it is the coaches job to sit them down and let them get healthy. Mangini obviously had no relationship with either of them and, as a result, they played below their capabilities and brought us down. Once again, a good reason for Mangini to be fired.

Cleveland is Cleveland. They do not scare me. Especially, if Mangini is their coach. If Jet management hires a quality coaching staff, we have enough talent on this team to walk into the Playoffs next year.

Except for Favre, our players did not choke on us. They are a hard working, classy, solid team. The next coach is going to walk into a great situation. I am not sold on the 3-4 (with these players) and I do not think that it would be difficult to go back to 4-3, if necessary. I hope Favre goes -- I would have cut ties with him, already. Our remaining QB's all have ability. Ratliff is either a great find or he had the luckiest pre-season of all time. Harris and Clowney will be healthy, next season. Stuckey and Keller have proven that they can be a quality receivers. The real Thomas Jones showed up this season and I see no reason why, with either Tony Richardson or Jehuu Caulcrick leading the way, he can't lead the division next year. We definitely need a big receiving threat. I don't see any reason why Marcus Henry can't be the man. At 6'4", he looked good in the pre-season. A good coach will either go with Henry or let Tannenbaum know he has to go shopping. Of course, saving money with Henry will allow Tanny to spend more on our defensive backfield. Revis is the only untouchable in that group. I would have to speak with Kerry Rhodes and his psychiatrist, as to what happened to him this season. It could have easily been the coaching staff that set him back. He has too much talent to go unnoticed for most of the season.

I just figured that, after Florio's rant, I would remind you of the positive things that we have going for us. We are not the Detroit Lions. We are a few players, and a coaching staff, away from being one of the better teams in the league. Tennessee knows that.

Agreed. I've posted about forty versions of this more authentic interpretation of events but it just doesn't fit the popular faux narrative so it's a waste of time.

What Florio and all the Jets-hating press focuses on is the Chad v. Favre issue, without noting that Mangini never wanted Chad. Chad was just always the best of a bad lot. Eric saw Chad when Eric was DC for the Pats and didn't like what he saw. He traded up to get KC, gave KC a chance to win the QB position in '07 and KC looked awful. This season was even harder for Eric. Sure, he wanted to bench Chad, but now the best prospect looked like Ratliff (during Eric's 3 years, the Jets cycled through, by my count, 7 QBs on the roster...not exactly a ringing endorsement of Chad). What getting Favre did was allow Eric to get rid of one headache, while hoping that the old man could get the Jets to the playoffs. It didn't work out, but it's pure revisionist history to say that the Jets should've stuck with Chad. Under Eric, Chad's days were numbered starting back in '06 when he was hired.

How can you not enjoy an article that has lines like "Favre decided to grant unto the citizens of New York his unparalleled football skills," and "the schedule was about to get softer than Kris Jenkins abdomen"? I'm already a pessimist by virtue of being a Jets fan, but this article didn't make me any more upset about the Jets.

First thing first Woody, GET RID OF SCHOTTY his system does not work, he is not his father and does not deserve that respect, then look at the statistics, Favre has hit and miss years all throughout his career, let him mend physically and mentally, then draft a Donald Driver type of receiver one who can get separation unlike the ones we currently have now, keep JC or LC not both, they are both possession WR’s, trade B. Smith and work Clowney in, place VG on DE he is not an LB, the guy is a freak of nature and will adjust to the game in the trenches he cannot play in space, draft a another DB and give it a go for next year.
