Sincerity?

(1) The HC NYJ’s position certainly wasn’t up for grabs last summer.

(2) Nobody was twisting Rex’s
arm to appear at Mangini’s charity event.

(3) He doesn’t come across as a BS artist.

So…on the whole I’d take his comment at face value.

Given all the 3-4 defensive players the Jets have assembled, this is a deal that makes sense for both sides.

I do not think he is a savior of any kind but is the best of whats out there and fits with what the Jets have in personnel on defense. I like Spags, I dont like the thought of going back to the 4-3 because then all we have down to revamp the def has been for naught. I have to imagine that he'll do whatever it takes to stay in his place, but i think he knows he's on shaky ground. tannenbaum has to realize that even though he's done some good things, he's got a good gig that will be hard for him to come by anywhere else in the league. i think that tannenbaum is looking for someone who can win, but i think he's also looking for someone who he can keep control of ... someone like cowher would pose a serious threat to his relevance ... a first time coach though ... he'd need the personnel help.
