This Is An Important Choice …
I just thought this was amusing and wanted to share it.
See if you can determine a pattern here:
“This is an important choice and the Jets are going to take the time necessary to make sure it’s the right choice,” said the person familiar with the search who requested anonymity because the individual wasn’t authorized to discuss it. “The team is seeking a passionate, dynamic leader that can create a winning atmosphere where players enjoy coming to work and are held accountable.”

Newsday (Not primary source)
Another source familiar with the team’s search said that wasn’t the case. It is not a coincidence that all of those interviewed share characteristics such as being “passionate” and “dynamic.”
“This is an important choice,” the source said. “The Jets are taking the time necessary to make sure it is the right choice.”

Bassett,
You have to be kidding. You cannot be implying that this is the first time the NY Mediots have parroted the identical lines as news. Are you?
I grew up in the Days of Dr. Z writing for the Post. First of all, unlike most reporters, having been a player, he could watch the game and see things others could not. Secondly, having played the game, and obviously having been a good guy, he had great sources he could tap. Finally, he must have had some respect for the art of journalism – the concept that there is a story out there and if one does the work and research, one can find it, and if one finds it, one can report the news and not one’s opinion as news.
Those days appear dead. While this is true for most news reporting today, it is more egregious when it occurs in a city like NY and with a newspaper the credibility of the NY Times. But one should be able to obtain real sports information from any major NY paper with the prestige and salaries they offer.
The real story will be if anyone ever writes a real story, one that is not obvious to all; that evidences work, relationship and research; is well written; and elucidates.
That would be news.

Well, since this is so important, Shotty’s our guy.
Oops, I just threw up again.
Bassett, tell me again what anyone sees in this guy. I know you watch the games. 3 years of silly, cute and being out coached by opposing defensive coordinators game after game.
Continuity? Great. Let’s stay crappy. At least we’re “consistent”.

Harlan-
After blogging about this team basically everyday for four years, in a word? No.
I just thought it was funny … but then again to me, fart jokes still are too.
“source familiar with the coaching search” = Jets PR Department.
The coaching issue aside, it’s just sad how often “stories,” are simply reworked press releases in contemporary journalism.
Well it is an important choice and I think the Jets should take their time and make the right choice.
Guess they have the same source I do…. Captain Obvious. No lets hire a bad canidate. Freakin tool boxes
I agree with Harlan.
Coming from a Journalism background, this is lazy Journalism, where everyone basically feeds off each other, rather than developing their own sources, and storylines.
And it is funny, while being rather sad what’s happened to Journalism, in general.
I’m basically resigned to the fact that Lil Schott will be back, as OC. A big mistake.
If they want continuity, I’d bring back Callahan. As a former HC, he could be invaluable in helping an inexperienced HC,
fill in the blanks.
The Jets are waiting for Ryan. Case closed.
Bassett,
Fart jokes = NY Mediots
I love it. LOL. You made my day.
H
It is a very important decision, if they make the wrong one we’ll be talking about this again in 3 years from now.
I just hope that if they want continuity on offense they look to Callahan and not Schottemheimer.
If we’re waiting for Ryan and he goes all the way to the SuperBowl, then he’s going to take Woody to the cleaners.
I don’t get the Jets love affair with Schottenheimer. “Cute offense” is dead on. It’s like a powder puff game
Hilarious! Great detective work Bassett!
Just wondering…Is this an important decision for the Jets? and if so…when can we expect an answer….?
:-)
Bubby,
When Rex’s season is done.
Lets hope so, Ramble, let’s hope so !

Seeking a dynamic, passionate leader that can create a winning atmosphere where players enjoy coming to work and are held accountable is one way of saying, we don’t have a clue what to do next, and we will be freaking on each other up here for a while yet.
