Empty backfield sets....I believe this was a staple for BRETT FAVRE more than Schotty............I wonder who added that wrinkle into the offense.

Leon is like the basketball player that comes off the bench for energy and then loses his flavor after awhile if used too much. He is a great talent but he can't be used as more than a change of pace back.

Regarding TJ, his only 2 stellar years were when he had a dominate offensive line with CHI and NY. About 4 years ago, TJ was the 3rd running back and looking for a team to play for (ARI, TB). He was a failed college player who became tough in the NFL. I think he is a good player but nothing to brag about.

jay,

Let me introduce you to spell check, capitalization, punctuation, especially what is called the question mark.

frank,

Use your return key. It helps too separate sentences to indicate a new paragraph. Your post looks like a rummage sale.

Both of you write like a teenager with his Marky Mark pants at his ankles texting his Hooptie Ride of a girlfriend. Get it together or get lost!

GB - Sorry about that but D. Vermeil's first name was automatically picked up by our spam filter as an offensive word!

We don't "censor" unless a comment is blatant trolling or offensive and we usually advise people when this happens if they are regular posters.

We do review automatically blocked comments and re-approve them if they are not offensive, but obviously this sometimes is after a delay because we cannot man the ship 24/7!

You guys who are bashng Thomas Jones - I want to know where you buy your drugs. He leads the AFC in rushing, has 13 TDs, and he needs to be replaced? I do agree, we need depth at the position.

GangGreen, "TJ wasn't a back that other teams were scared of?" Who cares if they are scared -- they have to stop him.

Frank, Leon is just okay?

You guys are underrating our Offensive talent, because the coaches did not use them properly.

I'll give you two examples, where formations and play-calling can make all the difference:

In one situation, we are in an empty backfield set, Favre drops back, looks around and can't find a receiver. Safeties are playing back, as there is no way we can run the ball. The defense knew the pass was coming so, they rushed five or six players. Favre feels the rush and throws a pass directly to a defender.

In another situation, we have Richardson and TJ in the backfield, Favre drops back, play-actions to TJ who circles out of the backfield, Richardson picks up the blitzing LB, Safety plays up, as he bites on the play-action. Favre looks up, finds single coverage on a slant to Cotchery, and we gain fifteen yards.

Schottenheimer put us in the first situation, way too often. That is how coaching can cause a receiver to look like he can't get separation. That is how coaching can cause a QB to throw interceptions. You have to look beyond statistics.

Mort was saying if the Rams dont hire Jarrett by end of day Friday, they will be going after Ryan and he then said he speculated Ryan prefers the Rams HC Job over the Jets... Keep in mind it came from Mort but lets hope the Rams and Jarrett is doing a presser tomorrow.

Bassett-
I'm proud of you. You're coming around on how awful the coaching was the last 3 years.
By the way, there are some pissed off monkeys. They think they are way better and don't appreciate being compared to Shotty.

We already have a monkey named Schott. I only hope that Schott goes elsewhere after the JETS hire REX.
