Buzz: Is Ryan the Favorite in Saint Louis

by Bassett on January 16th, 2009 at 5:09 pm

According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Ravens DC Rex Ryan might be the favorite for the job. Yesterday it was Leslie Frazier, today it’s the Vikings. Schefter just reported that Cowboys’ OC Jason Garrett is actually headed to Saint Louis (which would be his second “interview”) as well ..

So basically it’s a mess.

The rams have said that they want to make a decision on head coach by saturday which means ryan is out of the mix. if garret is flying out there i’m betting on him gettting the job. ryan will be the next jets head coach and schotty may go to detroit unless thats a fabricated report.

  2. avatar Dean Barbella says:

I like the Ravens. My boy, Terrell Suggs (Arizona State) plays for them, but I’m not sure I can take another week of this Rex Ryan mess.

In short, we need him or we suck! Hopefully, not as bad as the Rams though. Go Steelers!

  3. avatar Chrebookie says:

i’m buying schotty’s ticket out of town, anyone wanna chip in?

  4. avatar GANGGREEN says:

Can the JETS get compensation for SCHOTTY to go to DETRIOT if they dont fire him he still is under contract for next year right?

  5. avatar Mel31602 says:

Hey all Jon Gruden just got fired from the Bucs… maybe we should give him an interview before we hire Ryan?

  6. avatar lajetfan says:

Teams only can receive compensation for head coaches

  7. avatar Tom says:

Definatly take a look at gruden

  8. avatar GANGGREEN says:

WOW i want REX but can u imagine GRUDEN with his scowl and growling face on the side lines for the JETS lol that would be awesome…AS Mangini was a PANTOMIME…

Here’s the link for anyone who doesn’t believe me haha.
I don’t get why they are firing him now though- they are behind all the other teams in terms of getting a good candidate to replace him

  10. avatar Mel31602 says:

How’s this for a brilliant idea… hire Gruden and get him to sign Jeff Garcia, who I think is a free agent. That would give us the veteran QB we need this year to lead us to the playoffs

  11. avatar Tom says:

    Reunite Gruden and Callahan

  12. avatar Tom says:

    Gruden Hc
    Callahan OC
Shotty dont let the door hit you on the way out

  13. avatar Kevino says:

Odd time to fire Gruden… Unless they promote from within and go with Raheem Morris…

  14. avatar sec108 says:

Put me down for a big NO on Gruden! He’s Billick jr, the brilliant offensive coach whose teams only won with defense and could never produce a decent offense. And I don’t want to hear about the SuperBowl win, he took over a team ready made and didn’t do much but tell them his former teams playbook. Last time I checked Barry Switzer had a ring on his resume too, I don’t hear anyone advocatinig him.

By the way, the defense he won with? Run by Monte Kiffin, who left to coach for his son in college.

    I still want Ryan.

  15. avatar Chrebookie says:

    callahan oc?

we want to step forward, not back!

  16. avatar sec108 says:

Oh, and he presided over just as big a collapse as Mangini this year, finishing 9-7 and out of the playoffs, inlcuding a home loss to Oakland in a must win situation, once again NO THANKS!

  17. avatar GANGGREEN says:

Yo, Tampa Bay is going after SPAGS i cant believe u guys didn’t figure this one out…No one has shown total interest in SPAGS so break out the sun tan lotion He will leading the BUCS next year…

  18. avatar JetsCHUD says:

Gruden……Still rather have Rex, but he would be my second choice. If anything hopefully Gruden being released will take some attention away from Ryan leaving him for us to take with little or no argument.

  19. avatar BigBadBob says:

Grudens a good coach, but I am still hoping we get Rex. It would just be more media drama if Gruden came to NY.

  20. avatar BigBadBob says:

Wasn’t trying to copy you CHUD, just happened to post around the same time.

  21. avatar Tom says:

GANG GREEN. why would we care if SPAGS is going to Tampa Bay how does that affect the Jets, who cares.

  22. avatar GANGGREEN says:

Tom people were posting as to why the Bucs fired GRUDEN I was stating that one factor is SPAGS is still availible and he fits there system of players…AND TOM Kiss MY @ss who asked for your oppion….

  23. avatar Tom says:

HAAHHA ok, you stated I cant believe noone figured it out like we were all sitting around trying to solve the puzzle, thanks for saving the day with that

  24. avatar Guys Let Me Tell You Something !! says:

  25. avatar GANGGREEN says:

  26. avatar beth says:

what is going on w/Mike Nugent?

  27. avatar Kyle says:

I can’t believe people are actually considering hiring Gruden as our head coach.

And Jeff Garcia? Thank you, but no.

  28. avatar Joe S. says:

Rex Ryan is the guy for the Jets! HIRE REX RYAN IMMEDIATLY! Make him an offer he can’t refuse!

Did you hear what Gruden’s players were saying about him? Not good!
