Doesn’t Schwartz runs a 4-3? That could be part of the reason they are not interested. Also, Schwartz strikes me as a Mangini clone. Very analytical, but no emotion. The Jets seem intent on moving to a more fiery coach, which I feel is absolutely needed.

WHY BILL CALLAHAN? I cannot take this anymore…No Bill Callahan…I think we should re-vamp the entire coaching staff but I would much rather give Schott another year than bring in Callahan as OC…

    HE HAS DONE NOTHING..

Reading a post earlier..Gruden called the plays and basically ran the offense for the Raiders..

Trade Coles for a first round pick or second at the very least. His time is New York is done, he has been good not great and he is paid way too much!

Leeh- He still led Oakland to the Superbowl without Gruden and our O line was vastly improved. I’m not a huge fan of his, but would like him to stay in some capacity.

Bassett, thanks for posting the Rauch article.

I hope Rauch is right. In fact, I would tell Coles’ agent now if he can engineer a trade for a second round pick, we will let him go. I would even take one of the first ten third round picks. I would put no restrictions on the trade (Miami, Bills or Pats because Coles only has a few years left).

I’d also tell his agent that if he fails to find a team willing to pay and make a trade for his client, his client should shut up.

Then, when Coles whines more to the media, I would “out him”. I would let the reporters know we volunteered the trade before the whining. That his agent could find no takers for a used up WR. That Coles can always sit home if he thinks playing at his level for $5 mil is unacceptable and if he misses OTAs or Training Camp, he will be fined for the mandatory ones, and risk losing his starting job to someone who wants to play for th NY Jets. Enough already. In fact, there is no cap hit for cutting him the day before TC ends.

  6. avatar Bent says:

Harlan – if we cut him on the last day of training camp there IS a cap hit…of 6m (and then another 1m the following year in dead cap space). Only trading him to a team that will take on the last guaranteed year of his salary gets him off the books (albeit with a $1m cap hit).

  7. avatar Harlan Lachman says:

Good catch Bent. My brain cells departed early for lunch.

That means we either pay him to play elsewhere, his agent finds a sufficient trade, or we can put up with an entire year of whining.

Oh, we could make things worse by satisfying whiney-boy.

Hey maybe Mangini will trade Edwards for Coles…He was willing to back guarenting Coles his money for two years…Maybe he wants him in CLEVELAND too…(COLES IS A (TEAM) PLAYER maybe Magini thinks he can teach the other receivers in CLEVELAND how to catch the damn ball…..LOL
