Could Scott Linehan be coming to New York as the new Offensive Coordinator?
Former Rams coach Scott Linehan declined the San Francisco 49ers’ offer to become their offensive coordinator Sunday, saying he wasn’t ready to commit to his next coaching move. And that move could be to Tampa Bay or New York.
…
But Linehan could have another option. There has been speculation that if Baltimore defensive coordinator Rex Ryan takes the New York Jets head coaching job, he will bring Linehan with him there as offensive coordinator.
Thanks to our friend Mark Bundgaard at NewYorkJets.dk for the information.

There’s never been a guarantee that Schottenheimer will stay. Especially with the strongarming he and his agent have been pulling, the Jets may be more inclined to let him walk if they have a suitable replacement.
I don’t think it’d be fair to stick Rex with current Jet coaches except for Westhoff. Let him bring in his own coaches. It doesn’t mean we have to start over, it just means that it’s Rex’s team, as it should be.

Joe B,
I agree completely.

Given all the crap about the Jets renewing Brian S and his inept offense, this could (have) be(en) good news.
Too bad one of the threads on this blog is that lil spent shot is coming back.
At least this might have implied that Rex had some say over his staff. If he does not pick a OC or a QB coach who we would want as OC if he fires lil Shott, then he probably lacks the knowledge or balls to amount to anything.

I want Tom Moore as OC, you know that OC for the Colts that has been there before even Manning was drafted! Now thats what you call continuity on offense. No wonder why its so hard to keep a continued level of success when all your assistants keep going way to jobs elsewhere. Which is why you somehow have to admire Bill Belichick. I think that guy may lose every assistant coach he’s ever had, and he still keeps on winning. That and a few cameras ;)

Ryan should make Bill Callahan OC and keep the continuity on offense. Callahan is a good offensive coach, and will/ would be much better then Schottenheimer. I cna’t see the Jets offensive players having to learn yet another system.
