Anybody else think that Ryan looks a little bit like Brian Dennehy playing Bobby Knight in the ESPN Movie, A Season on the Brink?

  2. avatar Ed L says:

i could see it but he reminds me alot more of parcells

  3. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

Finally a JETS HC ho wants his team to be knon as th “most physical in the NFL.” No more of this read and react crXp we have gotten out of Mangini, Edwards, etc.

It will also be interesting to see which players don’t survive this new philosophy.

  4. avatar ronnie says:

jenkins, harris, pace, revis, lowrey, rhodes, elam (as a substitue) are the only ones who will survive on this defense.

I wasn’t really watching, when I heard the presser.
I could’ve sworn it was Namath speaking. He has a similar accent, and intonations.
Hopefully he brings the same result!

  6. avatar Liam says:

A guy who I could see shining under Rex Ryan . . . Eric Smith. Baltimore has had a number of physical/cerebral strong safeties with limited range that have flourished in their system

  7. avatar pound4pound says:

That’s a good call Liam. Jim Leonhard was actually one of those guys this year for BAL – picked up for peanuts from BUF. Leonhard has raved about Rex giving him the freedom to make plays because he’s smart and aggressive.

  8. avatar AL says:

I think we are all forgetting that 11 games into the season we were at the top of the league in sacks and stopping the rush. So it’s not like we have no talent.

  9. avatar Ken says:

Seems like a nice guy… reminds me of John Madden a little

  10. avatar Rich says:

It’s great to have someone who seems to be himself. No Mangini imitating Belicheat. Go D-Rex!

  11. avatar Liam says:

Rich I had much the same thought (and have read that about him these past few weeks). he seems very comfortable with who he is and doesn’t really give a damn if other people approve. thats should serve him very well both with the team and surviving the media

  12. avatar Jerry says:

An “up-front” guy. The Jets players will love him.

  13. avatar Bassett says:

close your eyes and see if you hear wilford brimley … cause i did!

  14. avatar Krista says:

I can’t believe I’m not hearing anyone complain about him wanting Favre back…

This is not a complaint…just an observation.

  15. avatar mole57 says:

    Krista,
If he said anything else, that’s all we’d hear about from the media. Good chance Favre is retiring, so why cause controversy and a distraction?

  16. avatar Krista says:

    Mole57,

True, True…I was just surprised…with the way this blog works, (or what I’ve experienced in the last month or so reading what people have to say, which is fine with me, just saying) it seems like most everyone just jumps at the opportunity to find something negative to say…so I figured that was next. But I’m glad it wasn’t. I like Ryan a lot! I’m excited about next season!
