Return of the Chat – 1:00pm ET, Friday

by Bent on January 23rd, 2009 at 10:42 am

After a one week hiatus, the weekly chat returns today, where you can welcome Rex Ruthless to the throne.

If you want to discuss the first week of our fearless leader, or maybe the upcoming free agency/draft extravaganza, join the TJB Chat at 1:00pm ET. I’ll be there just in case.

can someone tell me the exact break down of the jets draft picks this april.

    1st round – jets
    2nd round – jets
3rd round – saints (for vilma, and lost our pick for favre)
4th round – washington (for kendall) and our pick
    5th round – jets
    6th round- jets
    7th round- jets

    is this true?
if it is true, i think the jets should deal their first round pick for 2nd and a 3rd or something like that, because this years draft might not have big time players ,but its a very deep draft with very solid players that you can pick up in the 3rd and 4th rounds

you know whats crazy, san diego made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs, and they are still picking ahead of the jets at #16.

  3. avatar Dean says:

I am not going to give you the breakdown since it readily available widely across the internet but I do agree with you the Jets should consider trading their first round pick. The Jets right now are over the salary cap and probably cannot afford their first round pick so might as well deal down and make the best of it.

Get rid of Favre and Burton, bring Scott and Leonhard from Baltimore, then draft Vontae Davis and Terrence Cody. As of right now, thats my best case scenario for this offseason. Defense would be tight! If that can play out, then think reciever. We will not be an explosive offense next year, so our defense needs to be stout.

  5. avatar Big Bad Bob says:

oops, cody isn’t available. so the second pick should be defensive front 7, probably an DE. Not tyson jackson though, could be the same problem they have with gholston, desire to play

  6. avatar robert06907 says:

The only thing you have wrong with the breakdown of our draft picks is that we don’t have our fourth rounder as it went to NO for Vilma. We basically are returning the 4th they gave us last year for a 3rd this year.

  7. avatar Bent says:

Plus if Favre retires we get a 7th rounder. (Wow?)

I agree about Tyson Jackson. Let’s at least attempt to develop Gholston before we bring in another young pass rusher.

The two-gapping NT situation breaks down like this:

    B J Raji – 10th-15th pick
    Big dropoff
Ron Brace (Raji’s inferior BC teammate) – 4th round

Perhaps someone else will rise though.

  8. avatar Electric Ham says:

I thought Tyson Jackson would play DE for us not OLB we need a new DE in the lineup coleman is not a playmaker and ellis is mediocre

  9. avatar robert06907 says:

Yeah Jackson is a good mold for a 3-4 DE.. He is a big run stopper, but not much of a pass rusher. He could probably hold up guards and tackles which would allow for our OLBs to rush the qb.

  10. avatar Bent says:

OK, yes, I hadn’t realised how much he’d bulked up over the last two years – was using some old data!

  11. avatar Big Bad Bob says:

But, do you want another man in the front 7 who may not have the desire to play the game. He has all the talent and size, but may lack the desire. Reads just like gholston.
